WPW Sunday Night on ESPN2 - November 5 / 2000

-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-

In the back, Mick Foley gives a short speech to Triple H telling him that while Goldberg may have gotten through the rest of The Elite it was time for him to show the world that he is that damn good and take out Goldberg for good tonight...

"Spit It Out" by Slipknot played in the background as the WPW Sunday Night on ESPN2 graphic comes up on the screen then fades away but not completely as a fast paced montage of WPW action including; Masato Tanaka hitting the Roaring Elbow on Mike Awesome, Al Snow smashing away at Sting's arm with a chair, Booker T drilling Kurt Angle with a Neckwrecker, The Acolytes putting Jeff Hardy through a table, the LWO beating down an opponent, Ken Shamrock with the Ankle Lock on Triple H, Mike Awesome with an Over-The-Top-Rope Awesome Bomb, Kidman pinning Ric Flair, Sting hitting the Scorpion Death Drop on Al Snow, Kurt Angle with all his gold, Chris Benoit raising the King Of Kings trophy, The Hardy Boyz with the Twist Of Fate and Swanton Bomb, Triple H hitting the Pedigree on Goldberg, Chris Jericho hitting a Lionsault on Goldberg, Goldberg spearing Jericho, Mick Foley hitting Goldberg in the head with a chair and much, much more.  The WPW Sunday Night on ESPN2 logo fades back into full then explodes...

"INVASION..." hit right as we entered the arena and Goldberg made his way into the ring in his wrestling gear.  Goldberg grabbed the microphone...

Goldberg:  "Triple H, you gutless champion, I've beaten you before and I'll do it again tonight.  Are you really as good as you say you are?  If you are then you'll come out here right now and face me like a man!"

"ONE! TWO! ZIS ON?!" blared over the PA as the WPW World Heavyweight Champion, Triple H stormed out of the entrance and down to ringside ready for the match...

Goldberg:  "Ahhh, Triple H, I've got to hand it to you, I didn't think you'd come out here and face me but if you really want to prove how damn good you are then you'll put that World Heavyweight Title on the line right now!  That is of course, if you're not a GUTLESS coward of a champion..."

Goldberg throws the microphone down to Triple H...

Triple H:  "You want my World Heavyweight Title on the line, Goldberg?  You got it!  I'm going to prove to the world that I am the GAME and I am that DAMN GOOD!"

Match #1: Triple H (c) v. Goldberg - WPW World Heavyweight Title.  'The Game' Triple H walked into the ring and handed the belt to the referee, who rang the bell and we're underway in a BIG way here on WPW Sunday Night just one week away from MANCHESTER MASSACRE!  Goldberg pounding on Triple H backing him into the corner.  Goldberg whipped HHH across the ring but HHH reversed it.  Triple H missed a clothesline and Goldberg took him down with a spinebuster.  Goldberg followed that with a lariat on The Game.  Goldberg mounted on top of Triple H and pounded on him with more punches then sent Triple H into the ropes and backdropped him over the top to the floor!  Triple H would grab the legs of Goldberg and pull him to the outside.  Triple H knocked Goldberg into the ringpost then whipped him into the ring steps.  HHH worked over Goldberg then rolled him back into the ring.  Triple H kept punching and choking Goldberg.  Triple H suplexed Goldberg then hit a kneedrop for two.  Triple H went back to the right hands but Goldberg fired back and sent Triple H into the ropes.  Goldberg ducked down to hit a backdrop but The Game hit a DDT.  HHH uncharacteristicly went up top but Goldberg cut him off and lifted him off with a gorilla press into a shoulderslam!  Goldberg now worked over Triple H for a bit then caught him with a savate kick! ONE! TWO! THR .. KICKOUT!  Goldberg whipped HHH into the ropes and ducked down.  Triple H went for the Pedigree but Goldberg countered it with a backdrop.  Goldberg then went for the Jackhammer but HHH countered it with elbows then went for another Pedigree but Goldberg countered this one with a slingshot ... right into the referee!  Goldberg then caught Triple H with his pumphandle suplex!  Foley passed the belt in to Triple H and Triple H tried to hit Goldberg but Goldberg blocks it!  Goldberg grabbed the belt and nailed Triple H with it!  The referee makes the count...

      ONE...

                  TWO...

...THR ... KICKOUT BY TRIPLE H!  TRIPLE H GOT A SHOULDER UP!  Goldberg whipped Triple H into the ropes but Triple H caught Goldberg with a facebuster!  Foley handed Triple H a chair this time but when Triple H turned around ... SPEAR~!  Goldberg caught Triple H with the SPEAR!  Goldberg sets up Triple H and ... JACKHAMMER!  Goldberg makes the cover...

      ONE...

                  TWO...

...THR ... FOLEY PULLS THE REFEREE OUT!  FOLEY DECKS THE REFEREE!  Goldberg looks down at Foley and yells at him!  THE ELITE HAVE HIT THE RING!  Shamrock, Angle and Kidman triple teamed on Goldberg until ... STING! BENOIT! JERICHO!  The three ran into the even the odds as the eight men that will meet at Manchester Massacre brawled.  Meanwhile, the referee DQ'ed Triple H.

WINNER: Goldberg via DQ in 7:15.

Rating: *** 1/2

Then ... "SPRACH ZARATHUSTRA" came over the loudspeakers as the WPW Commissioner, 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair walked out at the top of the ramp with a microphone...

Ric Flair:  "It's become obvious to me that the eight of you cannot wait until Manchester Massacre and the Ultimate Survival Match so being the fair commissioner that I am, I'm not going to make you wait until the Pay-Per-View.  Since it seems that the eight of you are going to fight anyways, later tonight in the Main Event, I'm booking a TEN MAN SUDDEN DEATH BATTLE ROYAL!  The eight of you along with Booker T and Mike Awesome will get a chance to unleash your aggressions here tonight within the confines of a match.  WHOOOOOOO!  As for the Pay-Per-View, Mick Foley, get ready for your five minutes with Goldberg because I agree, I'll put the Commissioner power on the line for the match because I'm confident that Goldberg, Chris Benoit, Sting and Chris Jericho will walk out victorious.  As for you, Foley, I'm gonna enjoy you're five minutes to hell, jack.  WHOOOOOOO!  WHOOOOOOO!"

We went to a commercial break as the melee in the ring was broken up.  We returned to Scott Hudson and Jerry "The King" Lawler at the announce position.  Hudson said that tonight Al Snow, Steve Blackman and Dean Malenko will face Scotty Taylor and The Unholy Alliance.  Masato Tanaka has apparently brought in a tag team to face Juventud Guerrera and Papi Chulo of the Latino World Order tonight.  Jung Dragons will face Brian Christopher and T&A.  The Hardy Boyz defend the WPW World Tag Team Titles against The Acolytes.  Then in the Main Event, it'll be a 10 Man Sudden Death Battle Royal with Booker T, Mike Awesome, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Sting, Goldberg, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Ken Shamrock and Kidman.  All that aand more as we head into Manchester Massacre live on PAY-PER-VIEW!

Match #2: Al Snow & Steve Blackman & Dean Malenko v. Scotty Taylor & The Unholy Alliance.  "What Is Fight Club?" by Dust Brothers sounded over the PA as the team of Al Snow, 'The Lethal Weapon' Steve Blackman and 'The Shooter' Dean Malenko headed out to the ring.  Then, "Country Grammar" by Nelly brought Scotty "Too Hotty" Taylor out to ringside.  Taylor waited as "Bombtrack" by Rage Against The Machine blasted over the PA and The Unholy Alliance along with Sinister Minister made their way out to the ring to team with Taylor.  Whipwreck and Tajiri were sober after last week's intoxicating experience.  Apparently, Commissioner Flair made them take breathalyzer tests before they came out to the ring.  This was a solid but unspectacular match between the two teams, very even and back and forth.  The ending would see Taylor and Malenko going at it.  Taylor hit a face slam and went for the WORM but BRIAN CHRISTOPHER came out of the crowd and hit Taylor in the back with a chair out of the referee's view.  Malenko hit a tiger driver and locked Taylor in the Texas Cloverleaf for the win!  Snow, Blackman and Malenko get a tainted win heading into their match with the Jung Dragons at Manchester Massacre.

WINNERS: Al Snow, Steve Blackman and Dean Malenko in 4:49.

Rating: ** 1/2

Backstage:

-Michael Cole was standing by with Goldberg, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho and Sting.  Goldberg said that the four of them are a unit and will beat the living hell out of The Elite tonight and whichever one of them wins the Battle Royal it's ok because they'll still be a unit going into England.  Jericho said that in England the match is dubbed the 'Ultimate Survival' and that's what it will be, they will survive but The Elite will not...

Match #3: Latino World Order v. ???.  "La Raza" brought Juventud Guerrera and Papi Chulo of the Latino World Order along with Eddy Guerrero out to the ring for our next match.  Then, Masato Tanaka walked out onto the stage and pointed towards the entrance as "Hip Hop" by Dead Prez blasted through the loudspeakers as D'Lo Brown and Chaz, The Lowdown walked out of the entrance.  They high fived Tanaka then headed into the ring for their WPW debut against Juvy and Papi.  This was a good match with Brown and Chaz showing to be a good team and getting many near falls.  D'Lo showed that he's got a lot of agility that with his size makes him dangerous.  The closing moments of the match would see Juvy try a running power bomb on Chaz but Chaz countered it with a backdrop then an Inverted DVD.  Chaz tagged in D'Lo Brown and took Juvy up top for the Real Deal (Superplex/Lo Down combo) but as Chaz hit the Superplex, Guerrera hooked Chaz's legs with his feet for the quick three count!  The LWO win the match out of nowhere!

WINNERS: Latino World Order in 6:47.

Rating: *** 1/2

Afterwards, Eddy entered and nailed D'Lo Brown.  This brought Masato Tanaka in.  Tanaka hit Guerrero then caught Guerrera with a Roaring Elbow.  Papi came from behind but Tanaka hit him with an elbow then a DDT!  Guerrero caught Tanaka with a brain buster and went up top!  Guerrero came off with the Frog Splash but Tanaka got the knees up then took Guerrero into the corner and drilled him with a DIAMOND DUST!  Tanaka and The Lowdown left the ring together with the LWO laying for once...

Backstage:

-Michael Cole was standing by with The Elite.  Triple H said that Goldberg wouldn't and couldn't beat him earlier tonight because Triple H is that damn good.  Foley said that later tonight they'll take everyone out then the best man of The Elite will win.  Foley guaranteed wins for The Elite here tonight and at Manchester Massacre...

Match #4: Brian Christopher & T&A v. Jung Dragons.  "Shock" by Fear Factory blared over the loudspeakers as Trish Stratus led Brian Christopher and T&A out to the ring for our next match.  Then, "Somebody Someone" by KoRn sounded over the PA as the Jung Dragons of Tatsuhito Takaiwa, Jinsei Shinzaki and the WPW Television Champion, Kaz Hayashi made their way out to the ring.  While Takaiwa and Shinzaki are smaller wrestlers they're around the size of Brian Christopher and pack a lot of power into their frames but they couldn't match power with T&A so they had to keep the match fast.  The ending would see Hayashi go for a brain buster but Christopher countered it suplexing Hayashi out of the ring.  Christopher then mocked Scotty Taylor and Taylor came out of the crowd with a chair.  The referee was distracted counting Hayashi out and Taylor nailed Christopher with a chair.  Kaz got up on the apron and hit the Slingshot DDT on Christopher for the one, two, THREE!  The Jung Dragons take the six man tag as the war between the former Too Cool continues...

WINNERS: Jung Dragons in 4:51.

Rating: ** 1/4

-Michael Cole got comments from the WPW World Tag Team Champions, The Hardy Boyz.  Matt said they've been thrown an unexpected challenge here tonight in the form of The Acolytes.  Matt said they've always been the underdogs but they always find a way to win and tonight will be no different...

Match #5: The Hardy Boyz (c) v. The Acolytes - WPW World Tag Team Titles.  "Ironman" by Black Sabbath blasted over the loudspeakers as the challengers, The Acolytes headed out to the ring.  Then, "Break Stuff" by Limp Bizkit brought out the WPW World Tag Team Champions, The Hardy Boyz.  This was another good match in the series over the months here in WPW between these two teams.  The only two teams that have held tag team gold in WPW.  The closing moments of the match would see Matt Hardy and Bradshaw going at it.  Hardy went for a suplex but Bradshaw blocked it then went for the Clothesline From Hell.  Hardy ducked and dropkicked Bradshaw.  Bradshaw stumbled back into his corner and Faarooq tagged in.  Faarooq came in and went to work on Hardy until Whipwreck came out of the entrance with Sinister Minister trying to hold him back.  This distracted the referee as Tajiri snuck around and nailed Bradshaw with a chair.  Faarooq came over and Tajiri hit him in the head.  Matt Hardy got up and hit the TWIST OF FATE on Faarooq for the three count.  The Hardy Boyz retain thanks to some unasked interference from The Unholy Alliance.

WINNERS: The Hardy Boyz in 5:10.

Rating: ** 3/4

(The Hardy Boyz retained the WPW World Tag Team Titles.)

Afterwards, The Acolytes chased after The Unholy Alliance while the Latino World Order hit the ring and started brawling with The Hardy Boyz until officials broke it up.

Main Event: 10 Man Sudden Death Battle Royal.  The rules of this match are normal over-the-top-rope battle royal regulations.  Two men will start it out then every minute after one man will enter until all ten have entered.  The last man standing in the ring is the winner.  "Stress" by Godsmack blasted over the loudspeakers as Ken Shamrock came out first then we waited for the second man and "Rollin'" by Limp Bizkit sounded as KIDMAN headed out.  The two Elite members didn't lock up and instead just took the minute to rip on the crowd.  Then the time expired and "SEEK AND DESTROY" blared over the PA as Sting ran down into the ring.  Sting was in control on the two men when the next man entered, "ONE! TWO! ZIS ON?!"  Triple H ran down into the ring and the triple team on Sting began.  Then, "Surfacing" by Slipknot sounded as the next man to enter would be 'The Crippler' Chris Benoit.  Benoit helped out Sting but it was still 3-on-2 for The Elite.  "One More Road" by DMX blared over the PA as Booker T charged in and cleared house on The Elite with Harlem Sidekicks.  Then as he celebrated Triple H decked him from behind eliminating him!  (BOOKER T has been eliminated).  The next man in was .. "My Hero" by Foo Fighters as Kurt Angle came in making it 4-on-2!  Triple H, Kidman, Shamrock and Angle, The Elite were working over Sting and Benoit.  Then, "Awesome" by Reckless Fortune brought the next entry, MIKE AWESOME.  Awesome just went off on The Elite and he was in control.  The next man in would be .. "Break Down The Walls" sounded as CHRIS JERICHO ran into the ring making it '4-on-4'.  Then the final man made his entrance as "INVASION..." blared over the PA and GOLDBERG headed into the ring.  The next elimination would see Mike Awesome and Sting double teaming on Kurt Angle.  Awesome went for a big boot but Angle moved and Awesome hit Sting knocking Sting out.  Then Angle dumped Sting out of the ring.  That left us with Angle, Kidman, HHH, Shamrock, Benoit, Jericho and Goldberg.  The next one out would be Kidman as Goldberg tossed him out.  Kurt Angle came at Goldberg but Jericho got him from behind and the two tossed Angle out leaving Triple H, Shamrock, Benoit, Jericho and Goldberg.  The non-Elite guys were in control when Benoit tried to eliminate Shamrock but Shamrock countered a suplex and suplexed Benoit out.  Jericho then managed to eliminate Shamrock with the help of Benoit on the outside.  Goldberg and Chris Jericho double teamed on Triple H.  Jericho hit a Lionsault on Triple H but then Goldberg clotheslined Jericho out of the ring.  Goldberg looked at Jericho and shrugged.  Jericho wasn't happy but smiled and walked to the back.  Mick Foley tried to come into the ring but Goldberg knocked him off the apron.  Triple H low blowed Goldberg and threw him over the top to the outside!  TRIPLE H has won the Battle Royal!

WINNER: Triple H in 14:03.

Rating: **

Afterwards, Goldberg re-entered the ring and speared Triple H!  Foley came in from behind with a chair and nailed Goldberg once then twice!  Triple H got up and would Pedigree Goldberg on the chair as we ran out of time!  BUY THE PPV!  BUY THE PPV!
