WPW Sunday Night on ESPN2 - October 8 / 2000 -==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==- "Spit It
Out" by Slipknot played in the background as the WPW Sunday Night on ESPN2
graphic comes up on the screen then fades away but not completely as a fast
paced montage of WPW action including; Masato Tanaka hitting the Roaring Elbow
on Mike Awesome, Al Snow smashing away at Sting's arm with a chair, Booker T
drilling Kurt Angle with a Neckwrecker, The Acolytes putting Jeff Hardy through
a table, the LWO beating down an opponent, Ken Shamrock with the Ankle Lock on
Triple H, Mike Awesome with an Over-The-Top-Rope Awesome Bomb, Kidman pinning
Ric Flair, Sting hitting the Scorpion Death Drop on Al Snow, Kurt Angle with
all his gold, Chris Benoit raising the King Of Kings trophy, The Hardy Boyz
with the Twist Of Fate and Swanton Bomb, Triple H hitting the Pedigree on
Goldberg, Chris Jericho hitting a Lionsault on Goldberg, Goldberg spearing
Jericho, Mick Foley hitting Goldberg in the head with a chair and much, much
more. The WPW Sunday Night on ESPN2 logo
fades back into full then explodes... We entered the
arena and soon "Welcome To The Fold" by Filter blared over the
loudspeakers as the owner of WPW, Mick Foley made his way out to the ring and
took a microphone... Mick Foley:
"Damnit, Ric Flair, you know that if you didn't have that fat
guranteed contract I'd fire your ass right this second. You see, Flair, maybe I was wrong about you. Yeah, maybe, just maybe, your more of a glory
hog then I thought. You could've stepped
aside when Kidman retired you, gone home to Charlotte and played daddy but no,
instead you come back as the Commissioner.
You made my career in WCW a living hell and now you're doing the same
here but you know what Ric Flair? I
survived you once and I'll do it again because after Battle Ground, 'The Elite'
will come out stronger then ever and then if I was you, Ric Flair, I'd be
worried about my own personal safety because maybe we'll have to take you out
just like we eliminate Goldberg." "Sprach
Zarathustra..." would then come over the loudspeakers as 'The Nature Boy'
Ric Flair walked out of the entrance with a microphone... Ric Flair:
"Mick, I'm not out here to have a confrontation or to pick a
fight. I'm out here to apoligize to you,
to Chris Jericho, to Triple H and to Kidman.
What I've done is wrong and I feel bad for pitting 'The Elite' against
eachother and tonight, I'm going to try and make it right. So right here tonight in this ring, in the
Main Event on one side of the ring it will be Sting ... Chris Benoit ... and
Ken Shamrock and on the other side will be Triple H ... Kidman ... and the WPW
World Heavyweight Champion ... CHRIS JERICHO!
Now that is FAIR by FLAIR, WHOOOOOOO!
WHOOOOOOO! WHOOOOOOO!" Mick Foley stood in the ring with a pissed off look on
his face as he peered up at 'The Nature Boy'.
We would then cut to the announce position where Scott Hudson and Jerry
Lawler were located. They ran down
tonight's card which feature Kaz Hayashi of the Jung Dragons against Al Snow,
Scotty Taylor teams up with the WPW World Tag Team Champions The Hardy Boyz to
take on Brian Christopher and T&A, Dean Malenko defends the WPW Television
Title against Guido Maritato, Papi Chulo and Eddy Guerrero of the LWO take on

teaming up to face Sting, Chris Benoit and Ken Shamrock. All that and much more tonight, six days away
from WPW BATTLE GROUND live on pay-per-view! Opening Match: Kaz Hayashi v. Al Snow. "Somebody Someone" by KoRn started
over the PA as Kaz Hayashi of the Jung Dragons made his way out to the
ring. Then, "What Is Fight
Club?" by Dust Brothers brought Al Snow out to the ring along with 'The
Lethal Weapon' Steve Blackman. Snow and
Hayashi started off trading some martial arts kicks then went to the mat. Snow controlled on the mat then Hayashi took
to the air and quickened the pace of the match.
The end would see Snow go for an ocean cyclone suplex but Hayashi
countered it with a bulldog. Hayashi
then went out to the apron for his Slingshot DDT but Blackman tripped him up
and Snow drove Kaz's face down into the mat.
Snow then dropped Hayashi with the Snow Plow for the one, two, and
three! Al Snow has taken the win over
Kaz Hayashi. WINNER: Al Snow in 4:52. Rating: ** Afterwards, Hayashi rolled out of the ring as Blackman
rolled in. Yung Yang and Jamie-San of
the Jung Dragons ran into the ring and dumped the ring of Al Snow then
double-teamed on Blackman. Snow would
grab a chair on the outside, hit Kaz in the back then roll into the ring. Snow nailed Jamie-San with the chair then
Yang came at Snow but Snow tossed the chair to Blackman. Yang nailed Snow with a spin kick but turned
around and got nailed in the head with a chair by Blackman. Snow would take the chair and place it around
Jamie-San's ankle. Blackman went up to
the second rope and came off snapping the chair on the ankle of Jamie-San! Jamie screamed in pain, rolling and holding
his ankle. Snow kicked Yang a few times
then placed the chair around his ankle, Blackman went up and did the same to
Yang! Hayashi grabbed the ring bell and
ran into the ring clearing it of Snow and Blackman. EMTs came out and had to assist Yang and
Jamie-San to the back as we went to a break... Backstage: -We saw Jamie-San and Yung Yang being helped into an
ambulence when Al Snow and Steve Blackman attacked the EMTs then further went
to town on the ankles of Yang and Jamie with kendo sticks until security had to
physically restrain Snow and Blackman... Match #2: WPW World Tag Team Champions, The Hardy Boyz
& Scotty Taylor v. T&A and Brian Christopher. "Break Stuff" by Limp Bizkit blared
over the PA as the WPW World Tag Team Champions, The Hardy Boyz and Scotty
"Too Hotty" Taylor made their way out to the ring first. Then, "Shock" by Fear Factory
blasted through the loudspeakers as Trish Stratus led T&A and Brian
Christopher out to the ring. This match
went at a quick back and forth pace for a few minutes until The Unholy Alliance
hit the ring and started attacking T&A.
The Hardy Boyz joined in while Scotty Taylor and Brian Christopher were
brawling on the outside until officials ran out to break it all up. WINNERS: No Contest in 2:58. Rating: * 1/2 The lights went
out and pyro blasted as "Break Down The Walls" came over the
loudspeakers and the WPW World Heavyweight Champion, "Y2J" Chris
Jericho emerged from the entrance.
Jericho walked out to the ring with a microphone... Chris Jericho:
"Welcome Jericholics to my show, Sunday Night Jericho and as
always, Y2J is your host with the most and *STILL* the World Heavyweight
Champion. You know a lot of people have
been complaining that Y2J is Mick Foley's handpicked champion but whine all you
want because the fact of the matter is that I *AM* and there's nothing that anyone
can do about it. And that includes the
jealous Triple H. Trip, it eats away at
you that I'm the one that has the spotlight and that Y2J has the gold and not
you! That's the way it's going to stay,
buddy because I don't have any intentions of dropping this strap anytime
soon. Then maybe after I hand you the
Y2J beating of your life you'll figure out that you can never be anything more
then NUMBER TWO in this promotion and you'll be a team player and support Y2J..." "ONE! TWO!
ZIS ON?!" 'The Game' Triple H would soon emerge from the entrance
and stand at the top of the ramp with a microphone... Triple H:
"Chris Jericho, you overrated son of a bitch, you come out here
each week and run your mouth but it's a rare occasion that I see you back it up
in the ring. I don't give a damn about
The Elite, I don't give a damn about Mick Foley, I don't give a damn about
anything but that World Heavyweight Title.
People have said that I'm obbsessed with the World Heavyweight Title and
those people are right, that belt means more then anything to me and in six
days at Battle Ground, I will prove to you, I will prove to Mick Foley, and I
will prove to the world that I am the true World Heavyweight Champion because I
am the Game and I am just that DAMN GOOD!" Chris Jericho:
"If you are that damn good then tonight stand on the apron and
don't get involved because I'll handle the business inside the ring but when
the match is said and done, I won't be responsible for my actions and as for
Battle Ground, never eh...ever will you beat Y2J." Backstage: -Guido Maritato told Tony Mamaluke to stay in the back
tonight and let him challenge Dean Malenko on his own and that he's going to go
out there and win the TV Title for all of Italy. Match #3: Dean Malenko (c) v. Guido Maritato - WPW
Television Title. "Stayin' Alive
[Remix]" by N-Trance came over the PA as 'Little' Guido Maritato of The
Full Blooded Italians made his way out to the ring. Then, "Change" by Deftones blared
over the PA as the WPW Television Champion, "The Shooter" Dean
Malenko walked out to the ring for his title defense. Malenko and Guido went at it in a very good
and very mat based match. Malenko
started working over the back of Guido and controlled most of the match while
Guido got some shots in and some good moves but Malenko kept going to the
back. The end would see Guido go for the
Kiss Of Death but it hurt his back and Malenko broke free then kicked Maritato
and hit a power bomb then held onto the legs and turned it into the Texas
Cloverleaf for the submission victory.
Dean Malenko retains his WPW Television Title. WINNER: Dean Malenko in 5:34. Rating: *** 1/4 (Dean Malenko retained the WPW Television Title.) Backstage: -Michael Cole welcomed Sting, Chris Benoit and Ken
Shamrock for some comments on the Main Event.... Sting:
"Tonight, there's two teams and one team is a crumbling mess of a
faction while the other consists of three of the best in this promotion. You've got 'The Crippler' Chris Benoit, 'The
Worlds Most Dangerous Man' Ken Shamrock and the Stinger." Chris Benoit:
"We'd have to be stupid to think that there won't be some
infighting between The Elite or some outside interference so we don't want to
send these fans home with a disqualification or a countout so what we're going
to do is make this match a No Disqualification and No Countout match..." Ken Shamrock:
"Mike Awesome, the bigger they are, the bigger their joints and I
dare you to get involved because you just might get your ankle ... SNAPPED!" Match #4: Latino World Order v. The Acolytes. "La Raza" sounded as Eddy Guerrero
and Papi Chulo of the Latino World Order made their way out to the ring. Then, "Ironman" by Black Sabbath
blared over the PA as The Acolytes charged out to the ring looking for
revenge. At Battle Ground, The Acolytes
will team with Booker T against the three LWO members. The Acolytes controlled most of this match
with their powerhouse moves and brawling.
Bradshaw and Faarooq were hot about the LWO attacking them at a bar last
week. The end would see Eddy Guerrero
and Bradshaw going at it. Guerrero went
for a brain buster but Bradshaw hit elbows and sent Guerrero into the ropes. Chulo made a blind tag and quickly went up
top. Bradshaw went for the Clothesline From
Hell but Guerrero ducked it and Chulo came off the top with a Moonsault
Bodyblock on Bradshaw. Guerrero tagged
Chulo's back then went up top and hit the Frog Splash on Bradshaw. Guerrero put his feet on the ropes for the
one-two-THREE! WINNERS: Latino World Order in 4:35. Rating: ** 1/2 Backstage: -The Acolytes were going nuts kicking around lighting

the Angleplex on Awesome but Tanaka broke it up and hit a DDT on Angle. Tanaka would then throw Angle out of the ring
on one side. Tanaka turned around and
got nailed with a lariat by Awesome.
Awesome set up Tanaka and nailed a Running Awesome Bomb sending Tanaka
over the top rope through a table on the outside. CHRIS BENOIT ran into the ring with a chair and
whacked Awesome in the back then in the head sending Awesome over the top to
the outside. Benoit quickly left the
ring as Angle would then roll Tanaka into the ring and hit the Angleplex and
make the cover for the one...two...three!

WPW Sunday Night. Then, "La

over the head of Booker. This would be
an exciting fast paced match as Booker kept up with Juvy. Juvy showed off his vast aresonal of arial

brawling with 'The Elite' to kick things off.
After a few minutes things settled down into a six man tag. Benoit, Shamrock and Sting worked well
together as a team making lots of tags while Kidman, Triple H and Jericho were
reluctant to tag and there were never direct tags between HHH and Jericho. The end would see Kidman and Sting brawl to
the back leaving Triple H and Chris Jericho against Chris Benoit and Ken
