-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-

"Spit It Out" by Slipknot played in the background as the WPW Sunday Night on ESPN2 graphic comes up on the screen then fades away but not completely as a fast paced montage of WPW action including; Masato Tanaka hitting the Roaring Elbow on Mike Awesome, Al Snow smashing away at Sting's arm with a chair, Booker T drilling Kurt Angle with a Neckwrecker, The Acolytes putting Jeff Hardy through a table, the LWO beating down an opponent, Ken Shamrock with the Ankle Lock on Triple H, Mike Awesome with an Over-The-Top-Rope Awesome Bomb, Kidman pinning Ric Flair, Sting hitting the Scorpion Death Drop on Al Snow, Kurt Angle with all his gold, Chris Benoit raising the King Of Kings trophy, The Hardy Boyz with the Twist Of Fate and Swanton Bomb, Triple H hitting the Pedigree on Goldberg, Chris Jericho hitting a Lionsault on Goldberg, Goldberg spearing Jericho, Mick Foley hitting Goldberg in the head with a chair and much, much more.  The WPW Sunday Night on ESPN2 logo fades back into full then explodes...

  "Sprach Zarathustra..."

After a few moments, the new Commissioner of WPW, 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair walked out of the entrance to a big reaction.  Flair was clad in an expensive suit as walked to the ring.  Flair got into the ring and took a microphone...

Ric Flair:  "WHOOOOOOOOO!  Let me tell you that when I signed a contract with World Professional Wrestling six months ago, I *NEVER* expected any of this to be happening and how could anyone predict what's going on?  The Owner of the WPW is ... MICK FOLEY?!  Now, anyone that knows Ric Flair knows that I ain't gonna be politically correct and dodge this issue, I'm going to take this time to comment on Mr. Foley so set the VCRs because this my friends is going to be some candid comments.  Mick, as everyone has read your book knows, you don't hold 'The Nature Boy' in the highest regard.  You think I overlooked you back some seven-eight years ago and you think I couldn't be bothered with you.  The fact of the matter is, I held that company together for YEARS and all of a sudden, when no one had any competency or common sense, in addition to being the workhorse of WCW they put me in charge of the whole damn wrestling operation.  I was in way over my head and you think that I overlooked you?  Your damn right I did.  You're damn right all I saw was some fat guy that can brawl and fall on his ass and that's all you are.  Sure you're one of the best damn brawlers in this business but I'm going to go back to the interview you did a few weeks ago where you ripped on these fans for wanting to see you put your body on the line.  Mick Foley, you're in the shape you are now because you allowed it to happen and you have no one to blame but yourself.  You're right, no one cared about you until you took those big bumps and if you hadn't, you'd still probably be just another guy because simply you didn't have what it took to hang with someone the caliber of the Nature Boy.  You want to rip on me?  You want to rip on the legacy that I built for myself?  Go right ahead but the proof that you're wrong is there in black and white, Mick and that's why it doesn't bother me the least.  One more thing, you're right, I can't carry Terry Funk's jockstrap when it comes to being a locker room leader but you know what, Mick?  Neither can you and neither can anyone.  NOW that I've got that off my chest, WHOOOO!  As the Commissioner of WPW, I've got some business to take care of..."

"Rollin'" by Limp Bizkit interrupted 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair as out of the entrance swaggered Kidman wearing his 'I BEAT THE MAN' T-Shirt.  Kidman had a microphone...

Kidman:  "Well look who's back, none other then the former 'Man' , 'The Denture Boy' Dick Flair.  As great as it is to have you back, Ric, it's not.  Why don't you make our lives a whole lot better and take your ass back to the Retirement Center where it belongs?"

Ric Flair:  "You know, Kidman, as much as I'd like to run up that ramp and beat the living snot out of you, pal, it just ain't gonna happen because like it or not, I'm retired, thanks to you, punk.  However, I've been handed this responsibility of being the WPW Commissioner and I think I owe it to you to be fair and hold no grudges so at WPW Battle Ground, I think it's only fair that you, Kidman, a great rising star in WPW step into the ring and go one-on-one with ... STING!  And to be even more fair since Mick Foley is desperatley trying to hold 'The Elite' together and since you three are so damn good I think you all would just love to have tune-up matches tonight.  I knew you'd be too shy to ask so I signed each member of 'The Elite' up to a tune up match.  Chris Jericho will defend the WPW World Heavyweight Title against Masato Tanaka.  Triple H will face off against Sting.  And you Kidman, I've decided to re-ignite an old rivalry when you face off against KEN SHAMROCK here tonight!  Now you definately cannot say that Flair ain't fair ... WHOOOOOOOO!"

Flair's music played as he smiled at Kidman, we cut to a shot of Kidman who was bursting with anger as he'll have to face Sting at Battle Ground and Ken Shamrock here tonight.  Also tonight, Test faces Mikey Whipwreck, Al Snow and Steve Blackman go up against the Jung Dragons, Jeff Hardy takes on Tajiri, and our Triple Main Event of Kidman versus Shamrock, Jericho against Masato Tanaka and Triple against Sting.  All that and more tonight on WPW Sunday Night, just under two weeks away from Battle Ground...

Opening Match: Test v. Mikey Whipwreck.  "Shock" by Fear Factory blared over the PA as Trish Stratus led Test out to the ring for our first match of the evening.  Then, "Bombtrack" by Rage Against The Machine started over the loudspeakers as Mikey Whipwreck made his way out to the ring along with the Sinister Minister.  At WPW Battle Ground, T&A and The Unholy Alliance will challenge The Hardy Boyz for the WPW World Tag Team Titles in a Three Way Dance.  Whipwreck got a few near falls on Test in this one as he tried to counter Test's power.  The end would see Whipwreck go for a Whippersnapper on Test but Test blocked it and nailed Whipwreck with a full nelson slam.  Test then headed to the top rope and came off with the Flying Elbowdrop.  Test made the cover on Whipwreck for the one, two, and three.  Test has taken the victory over Mikey Whipwreck.

WINNER: Test in 3:52.

Rating: * 1/2

Match #2: Jung Dragons vs. Al Snow & Steve Blackman.  "Somebody Someone" by KoRn brought Jamie-San and Yung Yang of the Jung Dragons out to the ring first.  Then, "What Is Fight Club?" by Dust Brothers sounded as Al Snow and 'The Lethal Weapon' Steve Blackman walked out to the ring.  This would be the ground attack of Snow and Blackman against the high flying of Jamie-San and Yang.  The end of this match would see Snow hit an ocean cyclone suplex on Jamie-San.  Snow then rolled out of the ring and was going under the ring for a weapon.  Yang was in and trying to warn the referee but the ref was telling Yang to get back to his corner.  Suddenly, Masato Tanaka came out of the crowd and nailed Snow with the ROARING ELBOW on the outside.  Tanaka rolled Snow into the ring and took off.  Jamie-San headed up top and as Snow got up, Jamie-San nailed his Flying Dropkick for the one-two-three!  A big win for the Jung Dragons!

WINNERS: Jamie-San and Yung Yang in 5:39.

Rating: 3/4*

Afterwards, Blackman grabbed his kendo stick and came at the Jung Dragons but Jamie-San and Yung Yang cleared out of the ring avoiding the attack...

Match #3: Mike Awesome v. Scotty Taylor.  "Awesome" by Reckless Fortune sounded as Mike Awesome stalked his way out to the ring for our next matchup.  Awesome will face off against Ken Shamrock coming up at Battle Ground, Awesome felt cheated out of the King Of Kings with Shamrock's victory over him in the Semi-Finals.  Then, "Country Grammar" by Nelly brought Scotty "2 Hotty" Taylor out to the ring.  Taylor is embarking on a singles career starting out with revenge on his former tag team partner, Brian Christopher.  The two men that made Too Cool a success will face off at Battle Ground but tonight, Taylor had a big opponent in Mike Awesome.  Taylor held his own in this match and showed that he can be an effective singles wrestler.  The end would see Awesome go for a Running Awesome Bomb but Taylor dropped down the back and hit a faceslam.  Taylor then went for the WORM but Awesome rolled out of the ring.  Brian Christopher would then walk out of the entrance which distracted Taylor.  Awesome set up a table on the outside of the ring then rolled back in and nailed Taylor from behind and hit a release german suplex.  Awesome followed that up by going for the Running Awesome Bomb.  Awesome teased throwing Taylor to the outside but the referee threatened a DQ and Awesome just planted Taylor in the ring for the three count.  Mike Awesome takes a hard fought win over Scotty Taylor.

WINNER: Mike Awesome in 4:13.

Rating: **

After the match, Brian Christopher rolled in and started stomping away on Scotty Taylor.  Christopher then patted Awesome on the back and called for the Awesome Bomb.  Awesome agreed then kicked CHRISTOPHER in the gut and would throw him over the top rope and through the table with a RUNNING AWESOME BOMB!  Awesome rolled out of the ring and grabbed a microphone...

Awesome:  "Ken Shamrock!  You're looking at the real World's Most DANGEROUS Man!"

"Surfacing" by Slipknot blasted through the loudspeakers as 'The Crippler' Chris Benoit walked out to the ring in his wrestling gear and took a microphone...

Chris Benoit:  "Kurt Angle, these back and forth attacks between us end tonight because The Crippler is calling your Olympic ass out.  I don't give a damn about the I-C Title tonight, this is man on man and I can't wait until Battle Ground to take you out, Angle.  The question is does our 'Hero' have the integrity to accept my challenge?"

"My Hero" by Foo Fighters sounded as Kurt Angle emerged from the entrance with the WPW Intercontinental Title aroudn his waist and a microphone in hand...

Kurt Angle:  "Hold up, Benoit.  How dare you question my integrity?  Your Olympic Hero is a man of the 3 I's, Integrity, Intelligence and Intensity.  Your challenge seems to lack all three but Benoit last week when you disregarded my Olympic achievements and hero status in this country, you insulted me.  So tonight, I'm going to accept your challenge to a match right now..."

Chris Benoit:  "Then shut up and bring it on..."

Kurt Angle:  "Wait a minute, Benoit.  I haven't finished yet.  This match will not be for the WPW Intercontinental Title but it *WILL* be contested under a variation of OLYMPIC RULES.  That means, Benoit that there will be no *STRIKING*.  Punches, kicks, chops, especially chops, will result in a disqualification.  There are also no rope breaks on pinfalls or submissions.  So Chris Benoit, I'm going to come down there and expose you as the worst wrestler in WPW and that is true!"

Match #4: Chris Benoit v. Kurt Angle - 'Olympic Rules'.  Angle walked down into the ring handing his I-C Title belt to the referee.  Angle and Benoit circled eachother then locked up with Benoit using a single-leg takedown on Angle.  Benoit stepped back allowing Angle to get up.  Angle seemed a little embarrased that Benoit took him down.  The two locked back up and Angle used an armwringer on Benoit into a hammerlock then tripped up Benoit.  Angle kept the hammerlock on Benoit on the mat but Benoit rolled out and reversed the hammerlock, followed that with a side headlock and a bulldog takedown.  Angle complained to the referee but Benoit said it wasn't a 'strike'.  They locked up again with Benoit shoving Angle into the corner and Angle begged Benoit to chop him but instead Benoit went to whip Angle across the ring but held on and pulled Angle back in and hit a northern lights suplex for two.  Benoit picked up Angle and tried a snap suplex but Angle blocked it and hit an overhead belly-to-belly on Benoit for two.  This technical wrestling continued back and forth between the two men and it was certainly something different.  The closing moments of this match would see Angle attempt the Angleplex on Benoit but Benoit countered it with a headbutt then drove Angle down into the Crippler Crossface.  Angle was tapping out and the referee called for the bell!  The ring announcer then made this call, 'The winner of this match as a result of a DISQUALIFICATION, KURT ANGLE!'

WINNER: Kurt Angle via DQ in 5:19.

Rating: *** 1/4

Benoit was enraged and the referee said the headbutt was a strike.  Benoit then headbutted the referee, grabbed Angle and hit his rolling german suplexes.  Benoit followed that up with a Swandive Headbutt on Angle.  Benoit rolled out of the ring and grabbed Angle's I-C Title belt and a microphone then came back in.  Benoit stood over Angle holding the I-C Title...

Benoit:  "Kurt Angle, we all saw you tap out to the Crossface here tonight and you'll do the same at Battle Ground.  Wake up, Kurt, open your eyes and look at the next Intercontinental Champion, the Crippler, Chris Benoit."

Match #5: Jeff Hardy v. Tajiri.  "Break Stuff" by Limp Bizkit brought 1/2 of the WPW World Tag Team Champions, Jeff Hardy out to the ring first.  Then, "Bombtrack" by Rage Against The Machine sounded as Sinister Minister led 1/2 of the Unholy Alliance, Tajiri out to the ring.  This would be a preview of sorts for Battle Ground as The Hardy Boyz defend the World Tag Team Titles against the Unholy Alliance and T&A in a Three Way Dance.  Tajiri countered Jeff's aerobatics and daredevil moves with hard kicks and stiff suplexes along with some arial attacks of his own.  The end would see Jeff send Tajiri into the ropes and hit a spinning leg lariat.  Jeff then went up top and tried a Twisting Moonsault on Tajiri but Tajiri moved.  Tajiri then kicked Jeff hard in the back.  Tajiri tied Jeff to the tree of woe and went for the baseball slide dropkick but Jeff pulled himself up at the last second.  Jeff fell down off the ropes then picked up Tajiri and slammed him down to the canvas.  Jeff headed up top and nailed the SWANTON BOMB for the one ... two ...  THREE!  Jeff Hardy takes the win over Tajiri in a great match.

WINNER: Jeff Hardy in 6:07.

Rating: ***

We returned to a local tavern where Booker T, Faarooq and Bradshaw were shown having a few drinks around a table and having a good time, we picked up on some of the conversation...

Faarooq:  "Man, Booker, wasn't it great last week when you pinned the World Heavyweight Champion then the whole 'Elite' fell apart?  That was somethin' man..."

Booker T:  "Damn it was something, I think it proved to all the people out there that Booker T's a player.  That's why tonight the drinks are on me, bros.  Can you dig that?"

Bradshaw:  "Yeah, I can definately dig that but don't blame me when I drink you into welfare.  [Laughter].  Booker, I gotta say you've got some of the best damn catchphrases in WPW.  Like save the drama for yo' mama and that other one about the bone..."

Booker T:  "It's gonna be on like a neckbone?"

[We see Juventud Guerrera enter the tavern...]

Faarooq:  "Speaking of bones, skin and bones, look who it is..."

Bradshaw:  "Well if it isn't that little punkass Juvy..."

[Juventud walks up to the table...]

Juvy:  "Hey guys, what's up?  You know over the past few weeks we've had some misunderstandings and on behalf of the LWO, I want to clear it up so BARTENDER six CORONAS for my boys."

Bradshaw:  "You want to come in here and try to make peace with cheap Mexican piss beer?  You gotta do better, man."

Juvy:  "Fine, make it six Bud-weis-er's!"

Faarooq:  "That's more like it..."

Juvy:  "Can I have a sip of your beer?"

Booker T:  "Ok..."

[Booker T hands Juvy his beer bottle.  Two waiters walked up each with a tray of drinks.  They placed the trays down then each picked up a beer then BROKE them over the heads of Faarooq and Bradshaw while Juvy broke his over the head of Booker T!  The waiters took off their hats to reveal EDDY GUERRERO and PAPI CHULO.  Guerrero stomped on Booker T...]

Eddy Guerrero:  "Don't MESS with US!"

We returned backstage where we saw Mick Foley giving Kidman a peptalk of sorts...

Match #6: Ken Shamrock v. Kidman.  "Stress" by Godsmack blared over the loudspeakers as 'The Worlds Most Dangerous Man' Ken Shamrock headed out to the ring first.  Then, "Rollin'" by Limp Bizkit sounded as Kidman walked out to the ring.  It didn't take long for Kidman and Shamrock to renew their old rivalry as they started trading fists.  This would be a solid match for the two as they head into big matches at Battle Ground with Shamrock against Awesome and Kidman versus Sting.  The end would see Shamrock hit a huracanrana on Kidman then "Awesome" by Reckless Fortune blared over the loudspeakers.  Shamrock looked around the crowd and the entrance for Mike Awesome.  This allowed Kidman to nail Shamrock with a low blow.  Kidman followed that up with a swinging bulldog on Shamrock.  Kidman headed up top and nailed the Shooting Star Press for the one...two...THREE!  Kidman has scored a win over Ken Shamrock!

WINNER: Ken Shamrock in 6:02.

Rating: **

After the match, Mike Awesome would now come out to the ring and start pounding away on Shamrock.  Awesome set up Shamrock for an Awesome Bomb but Shamrock countered it with a huracanrana then locked Awesome in the Ankle Lock.  Awesome yelled in pain before referees came out to make Shamrock release the hold.

We went backstage where Mick Foley was shown talking to "Y2J" Chris Jericho...

Match #7: Masato Tanaka v. Chris Jericho (c) - WPW World Heavyweight Title.  'D A N G U N' sounded over the PA as Masato Tanaka made his way out to the ring.  Tanaka got put into a very lucky position this week with a rare shot at the World Heavyweight Title with the champion coming off of two straight non-title loses.  Then, "Break Down The Walls" came over the PA as the WPW World Heavyweight Champion, "Y2J" Chris Jericho made his way out to the ring.  Jericho showed more toughness in this match much like he did against Benoit.  Jericho looked to be out to prove a point as he went fullstop against Masato Tanaka.  Tanaka would go blow for blow with Jericho matching him at every turn and showing he had it in him to become World Heavyweight Champion.  The closing moments of the match would see Jericho hit a power bomb on Tanaka then held on, lifted Tanaka back up and drilled him with a second power bomb.  Jericho headed up to the top rope and waited on Tanaka.  Jericho came off with a missile dropkick but Tanaka dodged it.  Tanaka pulled Jericho into the corner and nailed the Diamond Dust and followed it up with a cover for the one ... two ... THR .. NO!  NO!  Jericho kicked out!  Tanaka waited on Jericho to get up and ROARING ELBOW! NO! JERICHO ducks down and double leg takedown into the WALLS OF JERICHO!  Jericho kneels down driving his knee into the back of Tanaka's head!  Tanaka is shaking his head, no! no! no! YES! Tanaka taps out!  Tanaka tried to hold on but couldn't withstand the pain of the Walls Of Jericho.  Chris Jericho has retained the WPW World Heavyweight Title in impressive fashion.

WINNER: Chris Jericho in 7:17.

Rating: **** 1/4

(Chris Jericho retained the WPW World Heavyweight Title.)

Backstage, Mick Foley was this time giving a peptalk to Triple H but Triple H pretty much brushed Foley off...

Main Event: Sting v. Triple H.  "Seek And Destroy" blared over the loudspeakers as Sting made his way out to the ring first for our Main Event match here on WPW Sunday Night.  Sting was granted his wish earlier tonight as Ric Flair signed Sting to face Kidman at Battle Ground.  Then, "ONE! TWO! ZIS ON?!" sounded as 'The Game' Triple H emerged from the entrance and headed out into the ring.  Triple H and Sting went face to face with Triple H shoving Sting.  Sting came back with a right hand.  Helmsley kneed Sting in the midsection then hit blows to the back of Sting.  Triple H whipped Sting into the ropes but Sting came off with a clothesline.  Sting and Triple H fought back and forth in a really solid match with lots of near falls that had the crowd on the edge of their seats.  The closing moments of the match would see Triple H go for the Pedigree but Sting countered it with a slingshot but Triple H caught the referee.  Sting nailed a Stinger Splash on Triple H.  Kidman came out of the entrance with a chair running towards the ring but Chris Jericho ran out and grabbed Kidman stopping and telling him not to help Triple H.  Kidman said he's not helping Triple H, he's going to hurt Sting.  Kidman turned towards the ring and Jericho sucker punched Kidman knocking him down.  Jericho grabbed the chair.  Sting went for another Stinger Splash as Jericho went to nail Triple H with the chair but Triple H ducked out and Jericho nailed Sting by mistake!  Triple H then drilled Sting with the Pedigree.  Kidman got up and started a shoving match with Jericho while the referee counted Sting's shoulders down one...two...three!

WINNER: Triple H in 7:06.

Rating: ** 1/2

Meanwhile, Mick Foley had come out and was getting inbetween Kidman and Jericho trying to break them up.  Foley was holding back Kidman when Triple H came from behind and nailed Jericho.  Triple H pounded on Jericho while Foley cursed at Triple H telling him that he's ruining everything.  Triple H shoved Foley and told him to shut up as Kidman then stood in between Foley and Triple H as the show came to a close...
