WPW Holiday Hell - December 9 / 2000

==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==

  Slipknot's "Wait and Bleed" played in the background of a montage of footage hyping up the matches tonight.  At Manchester Massacre, The Unholy Alliance established themselves as a dangerous threat handing it to The Acolytes, The Acolytes responded with a beatdown and this past WPWSN, Mikey Whipwreck burned down The Acolytes offices.  This feud continues tonight as The Unholy Alliance and The Acolytes take it to the streets with a Street Fight.  'The Shooter' Dean Malenko will defend his WPW Television Title against Scotty 'Too Hotty' Taylor.  Masato Tanaka has had his troubles with the Latino World Order for months now and Eddy Guerrero challenged Tanaka to bring a partner here tonight to face himself and Chavo Guerrero Jr.  Will Tanaka look within WPW for a partner or will he bring someone in for help?  Kidman has questioned Sting's heart and passion for the wrestling business, Sting responded by challenging Kidman to a good old school 2 out of 3 Falls match here tonight to show Kidman that he still has a fire for the wrestling business.  The three-time WPW World Tag Team Champions, The Hardy Boyz face another tough challenge in a triangle elimination match against the Jung Dragons and former champs, the LWO.  This match promises to be a high flying encounter.  An old feud was rekindled when Booker T won a Number One Contenders match for the Intercontinental Title.  Booker T gets another shot at the man that took his gold several months ago, Kurt Angle.  Ever since Ken Shamrock turned his back on former friend, Chris Benoit, he has refused to face Benoit in the ring until finally accepting the challenge making Benoit step into his world, the Lion's Den.  This is a first ever here in WPW and the only way to win is by submission or throwing in the towel.  Shamrock has the Owner Mick Foley in his corner while Benoit counters with the Commissioner, Ric Flair in his.  Then in the Main Event, Triple H will defend the WPW World Heavyweight Title against "Y2J" Chris Jericho and Goldberg.  Last month in the Ultimate Survival Match, Triple H was left with Jericho and Goldberg and was promptly destroyed.  Ric Flair then named Jericho and Goldberg co-#1 contenders setting up the match.  The next week, an accidental spear from Goldberg to Jericho led to Jericho losing a World Title match to Triple H.  All three men walked out of WPW Sunday Night last week with big wins leading here tonight at WPW Holiday Hell ... LIVE ON PAY-PER-VIEW!

  We then entered the arena live as fireworks went off with Scott Hudson and Jerry 'The King' Lawler welcoming us to the show and thanking the fans for ordering.  They hyped up the show some more then sent us to the ring for three hours of solid action...

The Acolytes - Street Fight.  "Bombtrack" by Rage Against The Machine blared over the speakers as Sinister Minister stepped through the curtain then The Unholy Alliance of 'The Japenese Buzzsaw' Tajiri and 'The Extreme Underdog' Mikey Whipwreck headed out to the ring.  Then "Ironman" by Black Sabbath blasted through the speakers as Faarooq and Bradshaw, The Acolytes hit the ring in street clothes for this Street Fight.  Bradshaw slid right into the ring leaving himself wide open for a rolling kick from Tajiri.  Whipwreck prevented Faarooq from getting in the ring sending him off the apron to the floor then hitting a baseball slide dropkick.  Tajiri chopped Bradshaw a few times then Bradshaw returned fire, picked up Tajiri and dropped him with a hotshot.  Bradshaw stomped on Tajiri then went for a power bomb but Whipwreck slid back in to save Tajiri.  Tajiri and Whipwreck both chopped on Bradshaw until Faarooq came in and threw Whipwreck to the outside.  Bradshaw then tossed Tajiri out and the brawl ensued on the outside.  Faarooq worked over Whipwreck until Tajiri came over and nailed Faarooq from behind.  Bradshaw ran at Tajiri but got caught with a thrust kick.  Sinister Minister distracted Faarooq allowing Whipwreck to roll him up for two.  Whipwreck sent Faarooq into the guardrail and charged at him but Whipwreck got backdropped into the crowd.  Faarooq went over the railing and after Whipwreck up into the crowd.  Tajiri kicked away on Bradshaw until Bradshaw fought back and would hit a pumphandle suplex.  Bradshaw went under the ring and grabbed a trash can and nailed Tajiri in the head.  Bradshaw got the lid and nailed Sinister Minister with it!  Tajiri grabbed the can and rifled it at Bradshaw's head connecting.  Faarooq tossed Whipwreck back into ringside.  Tajiri grabbed a broomstick from under the ring and came at Faarooq but Faarooq kicked Tajiri, took the broomstick and laid out both Tajiri and Whipwreck.  This mass carnage of a match continued for several minutes until Tajiri hit a pescado on Bradshaw.  Whipwreck then hit Faarooq with a Whippersnapper for the one ... two ... THR ... KICKOUT!  Tajiri tossed two chairs in then would with the help Whipwreck hit a Double Brain Buster on a chair!  Tajiri covered Faarooq for the one ... two ... THR ...   We went to a shot of the empty Lion's Den and then went to a video package documenting the events leading up to this unique match...

Match #7: Ken Shamrock (w/Mick Foley) v. Chris Benoit (w/Ric Flair) - Lion's Den.  We moved over to the Lion's Den which was located near the entrance area.  The Lion's Den is a circular cage with no escape.  The only way to win the match is via submission or the cornerman throwing in the towel.  "Stress" by Godsmack blared over the speakers as 'The Worlds Most Dangerous Man' Ken Shamrock and his cornerman and owner of WPW, Mick Foley headed out.  Shamrock climbed the ladder up then climbed down into the Lion's Den.  Then, "Surfacing" by Slipknot blasted through the speakers as 'The Crippler' Chris Benoit and his cornerman and Commissioner of WPW, Ric Flair headed out.  Benoit went up and down into the cage along with the referee.  The ladder was taken away and there was no escape for either man.  Shamrock tried to attack Benoit but Benoit countered with a chop on Shamrock.  Benoit chopped Shamrock some more then tried to smash Shamrock into the cage but Shamrock blocked it and hit Benoit a few times then tried a mafia kick but Benoit moved and Shamrock hit the cage.  Benoit nailed Shamrock with a lariat then dropped him with a power bomb.  Benoit followed that with a legdrop on Shamrock.  Benoit locked Shamrock in a single leg boston crab!  Shamrock was in pain but managed to reverse out of the hold.  Benoit continued to pound on Shamrock sending him into the cage.  Benoit slammed Shamrock down then tried to pick him up but Shamrock sweeped out the legs of Benoit.  Shamrock got up and stomped on Benoit then went for a leg grapevine but Benoit kicked him off.  Benoit got up and went for a kick but Shamrock grabbed the leg and sweeped out the other then locked Benoit in a cross knee breaker.  Benoit struggled to get out but Shamrock would release the hold.  Shamrock mounted on Benoit and started punching him in the face.  Shamrock hit twice then Benoit dodged one, grabbed the arm of Shamrock and flipped him over then got up.  Benoit nailed Shamrock with a dropkick sending Shamrock into the cage.  Shamrock turned around and Benoit went for a lariat but Shamrock took him down into an armbar submission.  Benoit struggled but would get out.  Shamrock then tried a choke hold on Benoit but Benoit fought Shamrock off.  Benoit hit some forearms on Shamrock then a DDT!  Benoit went for the Crippler Crossface but Shamrock rolled over onto his back, not letting Benoit lock it in.  Benoit would get frustrated and limit his submission attacks, instead went to the strategy of beating Shamrock down with stiff power moves and using the cage to split open Shamrock.  It looked like Benoit was trying to knock Shamrock out and wear him down enough where Foley would have to throw in the towel or Shamrock would just pass out from the pain.  Shamrock on the other hand, would stick to the submissions, mainly on the leg of Benoit wearing him down for the Ankle Lock.  The closing moments of this match would see Shamrock drill Benoit with a single arm DDT.  Shamrock climbed up the side of the cage and jumped off catching Benoit in a huracanrana but Benoit countered it with a vicious power bomb!  Benoit yelled at Foley to throw in the towel but Foley wouldn't.  Benoit climbed the side of the cage and came off with a Swandive Headbutt but Shamrock moed.  Shamrock then locked Benoit in the Ankle Lock!  Benoit was in a ton of pain!  Shamrock told Flair to throw in the towel while Benoit yelled, "NO! WINNER: Ken Shamrock in 12:39.

Rating: ****

Afterwards, Shamrock refused to release the hold on Benoit while Flair heard the announcement.  Foley laughed and gloated then Flair nailed him with a right hand.  WPW officials would go into the cage to make sure Shamrock didn't do further damage to Benoit.  Meanwhile, Flair nailed Foley with right hands as Foley backed down the entrance towards the ring.  Flair nailed Foley with a chop then Foley rolled into the ring.  Flair came in and Foley begged off into the corner.  Flair held his hands up as to say he wasn't going to hit Foley.  Flair then chopped Foley.  Flair chopped him again then Foley hit a right hand on Flair.  Flair chopped Foley, then punched him, chopped and punched him then Foley went to the midsection of Flair, turned him around and started pummeling down Flair with right hands.  Flair went down then nailed Foley low!  Flair got up and traded shots with Foley.  Finally the WPW officials that were helping Benoit got into the ring and broke up Ric Flair and Mick Foley!  ALL HELL HAS BROKEN LOOSE HERE AT HOLIDAY HELL!  Flair tried to get at Foley but was restrained.  The two men yelled back and forth at eachother before both were taken to the back.  The two men in power here in WPW have finally come to blows...
