WPW International Incident - July 29 / 2000

-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-

  Limp Bizkit's "Now I Know Why You Hate Me" played in the background of our opening montage that chronicled the feuds leading up tonight's matchups.  Jeff Jarrett and Eddy Guerrero have formed an alliance over the past month and after Papi Chulo upset Double J, the two attacked him only for Juventud Guerrera to make his WPW debut saving Chulo.  The two teams meet tonight in tag team action.  Al Snow has turned into a dangerous psychotic individual taking out people with his vicious submission maneuvers but the returning new look Sting has stepped up to Snow and promised to end Snow's path of destruction tonight.  Another chapter in the storied feud between D-Generation X and The Four Horsemen will be written tonight as Ken Shamrock and Dean Malenko step into a Steel Cage against X-Pac and Road Dogg.  Kurt Angle has been looking to add gold to his Olympic Medals and has targeted I-C Champion, Booker T.  Being a fighting champion, Booker T has granted Angle a title match here tonight but showed last week that he can play dirty if needed.  The Hardy Boyz have been WPW World Tag Team Champions ever since winning the tournament to become the first champions, tonight they defend against the team they beat in those finals, The Acolytes.  After losing the World Heavyweight Title to Goldberg, Triple H came out on Sunday Night and made excuses for his loss only for Chris Benoit to walk out and tell Triple H to accept his loss like a man.  Ever since then Benoit and Triple H have had one of the most intense rivalries in WPW culminating with a match tonight.  There's no titles on the line but both men's pride is at stake.  That brings us to one of the most high stakes matches in WPW history, the Career versus Hair Match as Ric Flair puts his illustrious career on the line against Kidman, who puts his hair on the line.  After Flair beat Kidman one month ago, Kidman demanded the stipulations for a rematch and Flair seemed to be denying the challenge but ended up accepting it stating that if he can't beat Kidman again then he doesn't have a place in the ring.  Then our Main Event as the WPW World Heavyweight Champion, Goldberg is set to explode on "Y2J" Chris Jericho.  Once a fan favorite, Jericho turned against his fans as he's done everything in the book to get under the skin of Goldberg and while he won't admit it, hide from Da Man.  Will Y2J be able to defeat Goldberg on his own or will Goldberg simply run through Jericho?  Will Mike Awesome get involved?  All these questions and more to be answered as WPW is live from the GM Place in Vancouver, B.C., Canada for INTERNATIONAL INCIDENT...

   We entered the arena as fireworks went off and Scott Hudson and Terry Taylor welcomed us to the show.  However, these men were interrupted by the sounds of "Awesome" by Reckless Fortune and out of the entrance came Mike Awesome in his wrestling attire.  Awesome stormed into the ring and took a microphone as the announcers wondered what was going on...

Mike Awesome:  "Shut the hell up!  I didn't just come here to WPW to watch Chris Jericho's back, I came here to show the world that I am the most dominant wrestler ever and I challenge any piece of shit in the back to *MY* type of match, a STREET FIGHT which means Anything Goes!   From here on out, all my matches will be street fights.  So which of you pussies back there want to test me?!"

  'D A N G U N' would sound over the PA as the announcers wondered 'Now what? Now who?' and Mike Awesome had a somewhat worried look on his face as out of the smoke stepped MASATO TANAKA.  Awesome's most hated opponent has followed him right into World Professional Wrestling.  These two men have inflicted more pain on eachother then any two men in wrestling over the years in multiple promotions now their feud continues here in WPW.  Referee, Jim Cordarus has come into the ring and has called for the bell, we've got an unscheduled match to kick off International Incident...

Match #1: Mike Awesome v. Masato Tanaka - Street Fight Rules.  Tanaka and Awesome traded punches to start until Awesome nailed Tanaka with a big boot and clotheslined him to the outside then got a head of steam and nailed a tope con hilo on Tanaka!  An amazing move for a man his size.  Awesome whipped Tanaka back first into the steel guardrail twice then threw him back into the ring where Awesome headed up top and connected with a diving clothesline.  Awesome made the cover on Tanaka for a one...two...only two!  Awesome continued the punishment hitting Tanaka with another clothesline followed by a Sit-Down Awesome Bomb for the one ... two ... THR .. NO!  Tanaka kicked out!  Awesome was frustrated and headed to the outside where he set up a table.  Awesome re-entered the ring and set up Tanaka for the over-the-top-rope Awesome Bomb but Tanaka escapes down the back of Awesome and nails him with a series of forearms then a running clothesline knocking both men to the outside.  Tanaka would soon find a chair under the ring and line up Awesome and run at him cranking Awesome in the back.  Tanaka stood on the chair and hit a Tornado DDT on Awesome on the concrete!  Tanaka slowly rolled Awesome back into the ring and went for the cover but Awesome kicked out at two.  Tanaka headed up to the top rope and hit a missile dropkick for another two count.  Tanaka headed back to the outside and found some plunder under the ring and threw a few cookie sheets and a garbage can into the ring.  Tanaka hit a DDT onto a cookie sheet for another near fall on Awesome.  Tanaka then placed the garbage can on Awesome's head then started beating the can with a cookie sheet.  Tanaka followed that up with a reverse neckbreaker for another two count on Mike Awesome.  Tanaka yelled out 'AWESOME BOMB' and set up Awesome for a power bomb but Awesome countered it with a backdrop then worked over Tanaka's head with the trash can.  Awesome headed up top and ... AWESOME SPLASH!

  We headed backstage where Michael Cole was with Jeff Jarrett and Eddy Guerrero...

Guerrero:  "Michael Cole, we don't need you for this interview.  Papi and Juventud, these people aren't gonna know what hit 'em after we get done because you see, man, Eddy Guerrero always has a plan..."

Jarrett:  "That's right, you two slapnuts need to wake up and smell the coffee beans because while you may be good, we're great."

Match #2: Juventud Guerrera & Papi Chulo v. Jeff Jarrett & Eddy Guerrero.  "Ebonics" by Big L blared over the loudspeakers as Juventud Guerrera and Papi Chulo made their way out to the ring first.  Then, "Cowboy" by Kid Rock played and out came "Double J" Jeff Jarrett followed by Eddy Guerrero a few steps behind carrying a duffel bag.   Guerrero left the duffel bag outside of the ring then Jarrett and Guerrero entered the ring and stood in their corner while Juvy and Papi stood in their's.  Before the referee could call for the bell, Eddy SMACKED Jarrett in the face?!  Jarrett said, "What the hell?" then nailed Guerrero with a right hand, Juventud Guerrera and Papi Chulo then ran over and jumped Jarrett.  Eddy Guerrero joined in and the three men beat down Jarrett in the middle of the ring stomping on him.  Juventud picked Jarrett up and drilled him with the Juvy Driver then Eddy Guerrero went up top and connected with the Frog Splash on Jarrett!  What's going on here?!  Jeff Jarrett has been laid out.  Guerrero's going to the outside and he's got that bag he brought to the ring.  Guerrero reaches into the bag and pulls out a t-shirt ... a "LWO - Latino World Order" T-shirt!  Guerrero put the shirt on then went back in the bag and tossed Juvy a shirt and Papi a shirt!  Guerrero then demanded a microphone and got one..

Eddy Guerrero:  "Jeff Jarrett ... You were a message to management and to all the people that don't respect our people, that don't respect our traditions and don't think because we're not 6'5 265 that we can't hang with the 'big boys'.  This is to all the wrestlers in the back that don't respect la raza.  I would like to see any of you guys come out here and wrestle lucha libre style, and do the things that these men do, that I do, and wrestle with the heart that we have.  See for years American Promotors have treated us like a sideshow taking advantage of the economical situation in our home country by bringing in Latino talent and paying them low dollar then treating them with disrespect.  And to all of you people in the audience, some of you respect la raza but the majority of you, the ones that sit there and say, 'Look at him, he can do all those fancy moves but he wouldn't be able to take a Goldberg.'  For all of you, you don't show us any respect.  So I tell you now, united we stand, la raza, we're going to do this together, the Latino World Order, LWO.  We are the future of this business whether any of you like it or not, and I just got one more thing to say to all the 'boys' in the back with old-school mentalities, we're gonna get our respect and our hard earned money, and whether you like it or not, all these guys, that's right the LWO, you've got to deal with us as a unit now and as far as all of us are concerned, each and everyone of you can kiss our ass!"

"La Raza" began over the loudspeakers as Eddy Guerrero threw down the microphone and the LWO left the ring to a mixed reaction, mostly negative from the crowd...

Match #3: Al Snow v. Sting.  "What Is Fight Club?" by Dust Brothers came over the PA as Al Snow slowly walked towards the ring for our next matchup.  Al Snow has reached a level of insanity where he's heartless and emotionless in his psychotic attacks on other wrestlers.  Then, "Seek And Destroy" by Metallica blared over the loudspeakers as the fans rose to their feet as Sting came out to the ring with his right shoulder taped up from previous Snow attacks.  Snow and Sting would lock up with Sting shoving Snow into the corner then unloading on him with punches and chops then some kicks until Snow caught one of the kicks and tore at Sting's knee with a dragon screw.  Sting got back up to his feet and Snow connected with a superkick for two.  Snow complained about a slow count and Sting cradled him up for just a one count.  Sting kicked Snow a few times then sent Snow into the ropes and hit a powerslam for two.  Sting followed that up with an inverted atomic drop and a clothesline sending Snow to the outside.  Snow would take this time to regroup then get back in the ring.  Sting went to lock up but Snow went to the eyes then worked over Sting's injured arm with a few arm wringers then went for a Jujigatame but Sting blocked it.  Sting attempted a bulldog but Snow threw him off.  While Sting was down Snow hit a dropkick to the arm.  Snow then slid out of the ring and pulled Sting over to the corner and smashed his arm against the ring post.  Snow would make the arm his target in this match and it limited Sting's power and led to Snow being in control for much of the matchup.  The ending would see Snow try to send Sting into the corner but Sting reversed it and charged in with a Stinger Splash.  Sting then backed up across the ring for another Stinger Splash but Snow caught him with a superkick!  Snow picks up Sting and SNOW PLOW!  Snow hit the SNOW PLOW!

Afterwards, Snow stood in the ring with his head down and then walked towards the back as the cameras followed him while ring crew setup the cage.  The cameras followed Snow through the curtain as Snow was muttering something to himself.  Snow entered his dressing room to see STEVE BLACKMAN sitting on a chair in the dressing room.  Snow's former tag team partner, Snow was shocked to see Blackman back after what Snow did to his knee.  Blackman stood up and said, "Al Snow, no one has been able to take me out before and I just wanted to shake your hand."  Blackman extended his hand and Snow would shake Blackman's hand.  then Blackman nailed Snow with a right cross then a Jumping Front Kick knocking Snow down to the floor.  Blackman would then say, "Al Snow, it looks like you didn't get the job done because I'm back and ready to kick your ass."  Blackman kicked Snow again then left..

Match #4: Ken Shamrock & Dean Malenko v. Road Dogg & X-Pac - Steel Cage.  "Stress" by Godsmack brought The Four Horseman's 'The Worlds Most Dangerous Man' Ken Shamrock and the WPW Television Champion, 'The Shooter' Dean Malenko out to the ring first.  Then, "The Kings" by Run DMC blasted through the loudspeakers as D-Genearation X's Road Dogg and X-Pac made their way out to the ring for this Cage Match.  The only way to win is by pinfall or submission.  Road Dogg and Dean Malenko started things out for their teams as Road Dogg would nail Malenko with a right hand then a left and a right followed by sending Malenko into the ropes but Malenko came off with a leg lariat.  Malenko followed that up with some forearms and a belly-to-back suplex on Road Dogg before tagging out to Shamrock.  Shamrock came in and the two hit a double back suplex on Road Dogg then Shamrock went for a kneelock submission but Road Dogg kicked him away.  Road Dogg kicked Shamrock a few more times then Shamrock returned fire then grabbed Road Dogg by the neck and slammed him into the cage and followed that up with a belly-to-belly suplex.  Shamrock made a cover but X-Pac came in and broke up the pin.  Road Dogg was then able to make the tag out to X-Pac and the two double teamed Shamrock until Malenko came in and the match erupted into a brawl inside the cage for a few minutes until the referee settled things down and Malenko and X-Pac went at it in a great sequence for a few minutes.  The closing moments of the match would see Dean Malenko hit a power bomb on X-Pac then go for the Texas Cloverleaf but X-Pac kicked Malenko in the face then hit a side suplex.  X-Pac would then begin climbing the cage for whatever reason but Malenko got up and began climbing up after X-Pac.  Malenko caught X-Pac and hit some right hands staggering X-Pac.  Malenko set up X-Pac and would superplex him off the cage!  Both men were down as Shamrock and Road Dogg reached for tags.  Malenko was up first and X-Pac almost got to his corner but Malenko caught him and pulled him into the middle of the ring and applied the TEXAS CLOVERLEAF!  Road Dogg came in and broke it up then Shamrock came in and would smash Road Dogg's skull into the cage and follow that up with a belly-to-belly.  Malenko got X-Pac back in the Texas Cloverleaf and X-Pac struggled to hang on but would tap out from the pain!  Malenko and Shamrock win the cage match over DX!

Matt Hardy:  "A lot of people ask us if we're afraid of The Acolytes, a lot of people ask us why we put our bodies on the line like we do.  Well, have you ever woken up one day and wanted something so bad that you didn't give a damn about what price you'd pay to get it?  Have you ever been willing to put your well being on the line to be the best?  Well we don't give a damn about our bodies and we'll do anything it takes to be the best and that's why we're the World Tag Team Champions."

Main Event: Goldberg (c) v. Chris Jericho - WPW World Heavyweight Title.  It was time for the match that has been building and brewing for the last month with the richest prize in World Professional Wrestling on the line as the lights went out and we counted down '5..4..3..2..1' and the challenger, "Y2J" Chris Jericho emerged from the entrance and made his way out to the ring.  Then, 'INVASION...' sounded as the WPW World Heavyweight Champion, Goldberg made his entrance.  After the introductions the bell sounded and we were ready for action.  Jericho stalled and refused to lock up with Goldberg.  Jericho would go to the knee of Goldberg with a dropkick.  Jericho stomped away on the knee and locked Goldberg in a cross knee scissors but Goldberg quickly made it to the ropes.  Jericho went for it again but Goldberg kicked him off.  Goldberg would pound on Jericho a bit then clotheslined Jericho out of the ring but Jericho landed on the apron.  Jericho tried to suplex Goldberg out of the ring but Goldberg suplexed Jericho in.  Jericho dropped down then would throw Goldberg out onto the apron and hit a springboard dropkick knocking Goldberg to the floor.  Jericho went to the outside after Goldberg but Goldberg sent him into the stairs and regained control of the match and began working over Y2J's back with power maneuvers.  Goldberg hit a press slam for two.  Goldberg continued to work over Jericho's back and tried a vertical backbreaker but Jericho managed to drop out but Goldberg caught him with a side kick.  Goldberg followed that up with a neckbreaker for two.  Jericho bailed to the outside and tripped up Goldberg as he tried to come out.  Jericho dragged Goldberg over to the corner and would smack his knees against the ringpost.  Jericho removed his wrist tape and tied Goldberg's legs to the post.  Jericho then got back in the ring and stomped away on Goldberg's head while the referee quickly went outside and untied Goldberg's legs.  Jericho would get in control now with a face slam on Goldberg followed by a vertical suplex then a double underhook backbreaker for a near fall.  Jericho slammed Goldberg down then went to the second turnbuckle and nailed a dropkick.  Jericho then called for the end and tried the Walls Of Jericho but Goldberg powered out and rolled to the floor.  Jericho went for a plancha but Goldberg caught him then rammed him back first into the ring post a few times then threw Jericho back into the ring.  Goldberg propped Jericho up in the corner and laid into him with vicious shots to the lower back and kidneys of Jericho.  Goldberg would then hit a vicious pumphandle throw suplex for another near fall.  Goldberg would whip Jericho into the corner and charge in but Jericho got the legs up then hit a bulldog on Goldberg.  Jericho once again pulled Goldberg's legs out to the ringpost and hit them against it.  Jericho would grab the time keeper's chair and take a swing at Goldberg's legs but Goldberg moved at the last second.  Jericho threw down the chair then went back into the ring and Goldberg catches him with the SPEAR!  Both men are down!  MIKE AWESOME IS WALKING OUT TO RINGSIDE!  Goldberg gets up first and calls for the JACKHAMMER!  SMALL PACKAGE BY JERICHO ...
