NGW Ring Wars - November 18 / 2002

-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-

Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, TN

-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-

"Praise" by Sevendust played in the background of the NGW Ring Wars opening sequence which featured a montage of various New Generation Wrestling superstars such as; Kane, Chris Kanyon, Randy Orton, The Dudley Boyz, John Cena, Taz, Brock Lesnar, Eddy Guerrero, Vampiro, Raven, Jeff Jarrett, Chris Jericho, Rob Van Dam, Booker T, Scott Steiner and more.  This is New Generation Wrestling and this is RING WARS...

We entered the Municipal Auditorium with Joey Styles and Diamond Dallas Page welcoming everyone to the show.  What a show we've got tonight.  TOMMY DREAMER will get CHRIS KANYON in the ring.  TAZ must defend his U.S. Heavyweight Title against KEN SHAMROCK.  To cap off the night we have a HUGE Main Event with ROB VAN DAM defending the NGW World Championship against BOOKER T...

(1) Jamie Knoble v. Red

"A Country Boy Can Survive" by Hank Williams Jr blared over the speakers as 'The Redneck Messiah' Jamie Knoble made his way out to the ring.  Then, "It's Going Down" by X-Ecutioners blared over the speakers as 'The Amazing' Red headed out to make his NGW debut.  Red has been dazzling the Northeast indy scene for quite some time, enough that NGW couldn't help but notice and bring him into the Cruiserweight Division.  Red likes to fly but Knoble is a master at grounding the flyers.  The ending would see Knoble go for a seated Tiger Driver but Red countered it with a frankensteiner!  Red ducked a lariat then planted Knoble with the Code Red for the one ... two ... THR ... NO! NO!  Knoble got the shoulder up!  Red headed to the top but Knoble caught up to him.  Knoble hit a big superplex for the one ... two ... THR ... NO!  Knoble picked up Red sent him into the ropes.  Red ducked a clothesline, then came off with a koppo kick!  Red went for the Red Star Press but Knoble got the knees up.  Knoble tied up Red in the Trailer Hitch for the submission!  A good showing for Red but Jamie Knoble is on top of his game.

WINNER: Jamie Knoble in 9:29.

Rating: ***

After the match, Jamie Knoble picked up the microphone...

KNOBLE:  "Hey! Look at thet, I won again! I jest keep on winnin' on account of when I win, I get money.  AND I LIKE MONEY! Y'all better lissen to me on account of mah name is Jamie Knoble. I'm the Redneck Messiah but that's not what I'm hankerin' to talk about.  I got robbed cause last week Rey Misterio Jr. got a shot at the World Cruiserweight Title before me. What in tarnation is thet?  I beat Misterio's ass at November To Remember. Thet should've been mah shot but now Misterio's the champion, as any fool can plainly see, I got screwed.  Misterio, I'm hankerin' a match with you so I can take the World Cruiserweight Title.  I will beat you again, boy!"

["Psycho" by Madd One]

The NGW World Cruiserweight Champion, Rey Misterio Jr. walked out of the entrance with a microphone...

MISTERIO:  "Look man, you've got a legit beef but man, you gotta calm down. I agree that you should get a shot the title but Devon Storm has got his return match first.  It doesn't look you can wait so how about we make it a Three Way Dance at Winter Wars?  We gonna set it off, Knoble, but this gold, it's going nowhere, BOY!"

We returned from break backstage where The Coach was standing by with the Dangerous Alliance...

JARRETT:  "Randy Orton, it's just like an Orton to sneak attack someone.  I hope you had fun last week because I know you're buddy Goldust isn't having any fun right now.  I suggest you put in a call to that freak so he can get you a hospital bed right next to his.

STEINER:  "So Booker T gets a shot at Rob Van Dam tonight?  It really doesn't make a difference to me whether it's Booker T or Rob Van Dam because at Winter Wars, the World Championship is coming back where it belongs.  It's coming back to the big bad booty daddy!  When I get my hands on the gold this time, I will have to retire as the World Champion cause no one will ever beat me.  Usually nothing is finer then Scott Steiner but nothing is more dangerous then Big Poppa Pump and the Dangerous Alliance with the World Championship in our hands."

Paul Heyman was seen whispering something to Eddy Guerrero in the background and Guerrero smiled...

(2) Jeff Jarrett v. Randy Orton

"Cowboy" by Kid Rock blared over the speakers as Paul Heyman led out the Dangerous Alliance's Jeff Jarrett to the ring for action.  Then, "Here To Stay" by KoRn blared over the speakers as Randy Orton made his way out to the ring.  Orton got the pin on Jarrett in a tag team match last week but after it was over, Jarrett responded by Piledriving Orton's tag team partner Goldust on the concrete floor.  Orton was out to avenge Goldust's injury here against the crafty veteran Jarrett.  The ending would see Orton go for a suplex but Jarrett dropped him on the top rope with a front suplex.  Jarrett went for a right but Orton ducked and drove a shoulder into Jarrett's gut.  Orton came into the ring with a sunset flip for the one ... two ... THR ... NO!  Jarrett went for a clothesline but Orton ducked and hit a DDT for the one ... two ... THR ... NO!  Orton headed up top but Heyman got up on the apron.  Konnan ran out and shoved Orton off the top rope.  Jarrett then spiked Orton with the Piledriver for the one ... two ... THREE!  The Chosen One steals the win over Randy Orton.

WINNER: Jeff Jarrett in 6:10.

Rating: **

After the match, Konnan slid back into the ring and jumped on Orton.  Jarrett and Konnan took turns pounding away on the rookie and making him pay for last week.  Jarrett spiked Orton with a second Piledriver!  Konnan went to the outside and grabbed a chair.  Konnan told Jarrett to Piledrive Orton on the chair!  Jarrett setup Orton but JOHN CENA hit the ring!  Cena ducked a shot from Konnan and clotheslined him out of the ring.  Orton managed to backdrop Jarrett then Cena hit a dropkick on Jarrett sending him to the outside.  Jeff Jarrett was looking to send Orton to the hospital but John Cena made sure that didn't happen...

We headed backstage to see Booker T arrive to the building.  The Coach got some comments from Booker about his World Championship match tonight...

BOOKER T:  "Oh, dawg, I can just see it now.  Picture this ... Picture this ... Booker T with a Neckwrecker on Rob Van Dam, the one, the two, and the three.  Wait for it ... Ladies and gentlemen, the winner and new World Champion ... BOOKER T!  The crowd, they're on their feet, they're ready to explode but the roof is about to come off.  The roof is gonna blow off the Municipal Auditorium when Booker T delivers the finest spinarooni that the world has ever seen.  A spinarooni so amazing that it can only mean that Booker T is the World Champion.  In all seriousness, Rob Van Dam, you're game better be flawless cause Booker T's gonna be bringin' the heat like never before, and there ain't no way you can stop the Booker man from taking that World Championship.  Now can you dig that?  SUCKAAAAA!"

(3) The Natural Ones v. Evolution v. Psicosis & Super Crazzy

"Natural One" by Folk Implosion blared over the speakers as The Natural Ones' Mike Modest and Donovan Morgan headed out.  "Intergalactic" by Beastie Boys brought Evolution out to the ring.  Then, "Loco" by Coal Chamber blasted over the speakers as 'Nicho El Millionaro' Psicosis and 'The Insane Luchadore' Super Crazzy made their way out.  The winners of this Three Way Dance will get a shot at the World Tag Team Champions at Winter Wars.  The Dudley Boyz headed out during the match to scout their competition.  The first elimination would see Morgan hit a fisherman buster on Nova for two but Jett broke up the count.  Morgan sent Nova into the ropes but Nova leap frogged over.  Jett made a blind tag and came in with an Afterburner but hit Nova by mistake.  Morgan spun Jett around and spiked him with the Suicide Drop for the one ... two ... THREE (4:32)!  Evolution are out.  Psicosis & Super Crazzy and The Natural Ones battled out for a few more minutes.  The ending would see Modest hit a cobra clutch suplex on Psicosis then tag in Morgan.  Morgan went for a moonsault but Psicosis rolled out of the way.  Psicosis made the tag to Crazzy.  Crazzy sent Morgan into the ropes and hit a spinning leg lariat.  Modest came in but Crazzy sent him out of the ring.  Psicosis jumped onto Modest with a plancha.  Crazzy planted Morgan with the Crazzy Bomb for the one ... two ... THREE!  Super Crazzy and Psicosis earn a shot at the World Tag Team Titles.

WINNERS: Psicosis & Super Crazzy in 7:22.

Rating: ** 1/2

The camera panned up to the upper deck of the crowd to spot Vampiro seated amongst the fans, much like he was last week...

["Break The Walls Down" by Sevendust]

Chris Jericho headed out of the entrance along with Brock Lesnar.  Jericho took to the ring and grabbed a microphone...

JERICHO:  "Let's get right down to the reason that a living legend like myself, Chris Jericho, even has to come out here infront of you filth in the first place.  That reason is that Chris Jericho lost not once but twice last week and that is unacceptable.  I didn't lose because of anything I did, I lost because of you (Lesnar).  What the hell is going on with you, Brock?  It's that Curt Hennig, isn't it?  He's feeding your head with crap.  You don't listen to Curt Hennig, you listen to Chris Jericho.  Or was it that you saw Kane break away from Raven?  What happened to Kane?  He lost to you.  Maybe he wouldn't have lost if he handn't been so STUPID.  I hope you're not making the same mistake, Brock.  Maybe hanging around a living legend like myself has gone to your head.  Do you think you're some kind of big shot now?  That all the press you get is because of you?  NO!  It's because of me!  Without me ... YOU'RE NOTHING!  You're nothing but a clueless musclehead.  You listen to that washed up hasbeen Curt Hennig, you may as well kiss your career goodbye!  You need to get your head in the game and stop costing me matches!  Are you hearing me Brock?  HUH?  Do you understand what I'm saying you?"

Brock Lesnar had enough and grabbed Jericho, throwing him into the corner.  Lesnar drove shoulders to the gut of Jericho, wearing him out.  Lesnar then lifted up Jericho and planted him with the Terminator!  Lesnar then picked up the microphone...

LESNAR:  "I heard you loud and clear but you're wrong.  YOU'RE NOTHING without ME!"

Lesnar dropped the microphone and walked out of the ring.  What has Chris Jericho done?

(4) Chris Kanyon v. Tommy Dreamer

"Immune" by Godsmack blared over the speakers as The Flock's Chris Kanyon made his way out to the ring.  Then, "Man In The Box" by Alice in Chains blared over the speakers as 'The Innovator Of Violence' Tommy Dreamer headed out to the ring for his official NGW debut.  Apparently at Raven's pressing, Kanyon challenged Dreamer to this match.  Kanyon made the mistake of trying to brawl with Dreamer early and paid for it as the match went on.  The ending would see Kanyon go for a samoan drop but Dreamer slipped out and hit a russian legsweep for two.  Dreamer tied Kanyon to the tree of woe and came in with a baseball slide dropkick.  Dreamer picked up Kanyon for the Spicolli Driver but Kanyon dropped out and hit an inverted DDT for two.  Kanyon sent Dreamer into the ropes but put his head down and Dreamer hit a leaping DDT.  Dreamer then picked Kanyon back up and hit the Spicolli Driver for the one ... two ... THREE!  Tommy Dreamer looks good in his NGW debut.

WINNER: Tommy Dreamer in 5:02.

Rating: * 1/2

After the match, The Flock hit the ring and went after Dreamer but Dreamer slipped out of the ring and headed out through the crowd.  Dreamer's tough but he's not stupid.  Raven had a microphone in hand.  As Kanyon got up, Raven held his arms out in a crucifix then spiked Kanyon with the Evenflow DDT...

RAVEN:  "Kanyon, I've had all that I can take.  I've given you more chances then you deserve.  You're incompetence will no longer be tolerated and your spot in The Flock is gone.  Kanyon, you're fired!  Stevie Richards and Tommy Dreamer, you couldn't get the job done five years ago, and your bloodshed and broken bodies now will all be for nothing.  Quote the Raven, NEVERMORE!"

We headed backstage where Terri got some comments from the NGW World Championship, 'The Whole F'n Show' Rob Van Dam...

VAN DAM:  "I'd be a fool if I looked past Booker T here tonight but trust me, Terri, Rob Van Dam is no fool.  If I was a fool, would I be everyone's favorite wrestler?  If I was a fool, would I be the World Champion?  Scott Steiner can run his mouth all he wants because he's scared.  He's scared because he knows that he can't match up to RVD.  He knows he's going down at Winter Wars.  As for Booker T tonight, I'm looking forward to this match.  I don't have to worry about getting hit with pipes in the back or Paul Heyman blinding me with his hideous skullet.  It's just Booker T and RVD.  But Booker, seriously dude, you're dreaming if you think you're taking this World Championship away from Rob Van Dam!"

We then went to The Coach who was standing by with 'The World's Most Dangerous Man' Ken Shamrock before his shot at the U.S. Heavyweight Title.

SHAMROCK:  "First, Chris Jericho can make excuses all he wants but the people that matter, the fans that watched, they know what happened.  They know he got beat.  That was my first step here in NGW.  My second step is the United States Heavyweight Title.  All I hear about is the Tazmission, how it's the most dangerous submission in wrestling.  Taz, I've forgotten more submissions then you'll ever know."

(5) Ken Shamrock v. Taz (c) - NGW United States Heavyweight Title

"I Will Be Heard" by Hatebreed blasted over the speakers as the challenger, 'The World's Most Dangerous Man' Ken Shamrock headed out to the ring.  Then, "WAR MACHINE" blasted over the speakers as the NGW United States Heavyweight Champion, 'The Human Suplex Machine' Taz walked out to the ring.  Taz escaped with his title intact last week when he got himself disqualified against Kane.  Taz was in tough again against an opponent as tough, if not tougher then him.  Much like Taz, Shamrock grew up on the streets.  Taz would go for a belly-to-belly tazplex but Shamrock countered with a belly-to-belly suplex of his own for two.  Shamrock went for the Ankle Lock but Taz kicked him off.  Shamrock tried to send Taz into the ropes but Taz blocked it and threw Shamrock through the ropes.  That's when Kane walked down to the ring.  Kane stepped into the ring and grabbed Taz by the throat and hit a Choke Slam!  The referee rang the bell to disqualify Ken Shamrock before this even got going.

WINNER: Taz via DQ in 2:56.

Rating: DUD

(Taz retained the NGW United States Heavyweight Title.)

After the match, Ken Shamrock got back in the ring and confronted Kane.  Kane just walked out of the ring and headed to the back.  By extracing revenge on Taz, Kane may have just made himself an enemy in Ken Shamrock...

We cut to a shot of Rob Van Dam finishing up his stretching then grabbing his World Championship.  We then saw Booker T getting pumped up as he walked out of his dressing room.  The Main Event is up next...

(Main Event) Booker T v. Rob Van Dam (c) - NGW World Championship

"Can You Dig It? SUCKA!" blared over the speakers as the challenger, Booker T headed out to the ring.  Booker earned this title shot with a win over Chris Jericho last week.  Then, "Walk" by Pantera blasted over the speakers as 'The Whole F'n Show' Rob Van Dam made his way out to the ring.  Booker and RVD circled then locked up.  Van Dam went around back but Booker grabbed a side headlock.  RVD shoved him off into the ropes and Booker came off with a shoulderblock.  Booker bounced off the ropes, RVD ducked underneath then caught Booker with a monkey flip off the other side.  Van Dam followed that up with a quick frankensteiner.  Booker backed off in the corner while RVD pointed to himself.  They circled and locked up again, Booker kneed RVD then chopped him.  Booker sent RVD into the ropes and ducked down but Van Dam fliped over then hit a spinning heel kick.  Van Dam hit some forearms backing Booker into the corner.  RVD hit some shoulders to the gut, backflipped and came in but Booker flipped over, rolling up Van Dam for just a one count.  Booker twisted the arm and hit a back heel kick.  Booker followed that up with a spinebuster for two.  Booker T and Rob Van Dam battled it out hard in a real good match for quite some time.  Booker seemed to have much of RVD's offense scouted and was able to counter it.  The closing moments of the match would see RVD hit some forearms, sent Booker into the corner and rolled in and hit a monkey flip!  Van Dam lept to the top and connected with a flying kick for the one ... two ... THR ... NO! NO!  RVD kicked him, drilled him with forearms.  Van Dam went for a whip but Booker reversed and kneed him in the gut.  Booker went for the Axe Kick but Van Dam side stepped it and hit an enziguri!  Van Dam bounced off the ropes and went for a clothesline but Booker ducked and went for a side kick but Van Dam countered with a legsweep.  Van Dam bounced off the ropes and Rolling Thunder! No! Booker rolled out of the way!  SPINAROONI!  Booker went for the Harlem Sidekick but Van Dam ducked, bounced off the ropes and both men collided in mid-air! With both men down and out Scott Steiner made his way out.  Steiner got up on the apron but the referee tried to stop him from getting involved.  Eddy Guerrero came out of the crowd and went to the top.  Who's he gonna hit?  Guerrero with the Frog Splash on ... Booker T!  Guerrero rolls out of the ring and Steiner heads up the ramp.  Van Dam gets to his feet and sees Steiner and Guerrero.  Van Dam was confused but jumped to the top and came off with the Five Star Frog Splash on Booker T for the one ... two ... THREE!  Rob Van Dam retains the NGW World Championship!

WINNER: Rob Van Dam in 15:46.

Rating: ***

(Rob Van Dam retained the NGW World Championship.)

After the match, Scott Steiner stood at the top of the aisle and motioned to his waist as if to say he'll be the one to take the World Championship from Rob Van Dam...
