-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==- NGW Ring Wars - September 23 / 2002 -==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==- We began with a
short video package showing Scott Steiner's powerplay last week as he took
control of the Wolfpac and took Kevin Nash out.
Booker T came out and laid out a challenge, Scott Steiner accepted and
tonight they will go one-on-one. We then cut to Taz's Tazmission-Plex through
the table on Rob Van Dam...
"Praise" by Sevendust played in the background of the NGW Ring
Wars opening sequence which featured a montage of various New Generation
Wrestling superstars such as; Kane, Chris Kanyon, Randy Orton, The Dudley Boyz,
Taz, Brock Lesnar, Eddy Guerrero, Vampiro, Raven, Jeff Jarrett, Chris Jericho,
Rob Van Dam, Booker T, 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner and more. This is New Generation Wrestling and this is
RING WARS... We entered the
arena with Joey Styles and Paul Heyman welcomed everyone to the show and hyped
up tonight's big Main Event of 'BIG POPPA PUMP' SCOTT STEINER verus BOOKER
T. Also, they'll get the World Champion,
Rob Van Dam on the phone for an update on his condition and more... ["More Human Than Human (NIN Remix)" by White
Zombie] 'The Prototype'
John Cena headed out of the entrance and down to the ring. Joey Styles stepped into the ring to
interview Cena... STYLES: "John
Cena, you debuted here in NGW last week with a dominating win. All week long people have been talking about
the way you stood up to Eddy Guerrero and your presence in the ring. How are you dealing with the pressure of all
the hype and hope centered around you?" CENA: "Joey,
since the first day I stepped in a wrestling ring, I've heard all the
comparisons. I've heard all the
hype. I can deal with the pressure
because I'm confident in my ability. The
only concern I have is that I don't want to be shoved down anyone's
throat. I want to earn everything that I
get and show all of these people that I deserve it. I know right now I deserve to be in the ring
with the top guys here in NGW and I look forward to showing all of you that
John Cena belongs." ["Don't Turn Your Back"] 'Big Poppa Pump'
Scott Steiner (with Midajah), 'The Chosen One' Jeff Jarrett, and 'K-Dawg'
Konnan, the Wolfpac, walked out of the entrance and down to the ring. Konnan took the microphone and ushered Styles
out of the ring... KONNAN: "The
Wolfpac is in the house and the new big man in charge, the man with the loaded
guns, they call him Big Poppa ... Big Poppa Pump, is about to speak on dis so
all you strawberries out there runnin' your mouths, that's enough." STEINER:
"Last week, the Wolfpac arrived ... The Wolfpac was reborn because
the greatest athlete with the greatest body and the greatest mind took over the
reigns. I ran this show for the first
eight months, anybody who stepped up had to deal with me. Then, Rob Van Dam got lucky and I got
bored. But Big Poppa Pump is back and
I'm back to force my will on anyone I want.
This time I'm not doing it all alone, this time I've got Konnan and Jeff
Jarrett watchin' my back." CENA: "No
disrespect but I was having an interview out here." STEINER:
"Settle down, kid, you're the reason we came out here. I saw a tape of you in action last week and
you caught my eye. You caught the eye of
the Wolfpac. YOu're young, you're
strong, you're fast, you're a complete package.
All you need is someone to show you the way and the Wolfpac wants to be
the ones to take John Cena to the top." CENA: "What
exactly are you getting at?" STEINER:
"This is a once in a career opportunity, Cena. Chances like this don't come along very
often. The chance to run with the
Wolfpac? This an opportunity you can't
afford to pass up." CENA: "Look,
I've been a big fan of all you guys for quite a long time. With that being said, I'm going to have to
turn down the offer. Yeah, I wanna be at
the top but I wanna get there on my own." STEINER: "Ok
... ok ... I can respect that. That's
very admirable. I guess there's only one
thing that I can do..." Steiner drilled
Cena in the head with a hard right.
Jarrett and Konnan jumped on Cena and started beating him down. Steiner leveled Cena with a Steinerline! The Wolfpac stomped away on Cena in a
three-on-one assault before Steiner grabbed the microphone... STEINER:
"BOOKER T! Take a look into
your future." The Wolfpac's
music hit as they beat on John Cena some more before leaving the ring... (1) Raven v. Goldust "Come Out
And Play" by Offspring blared over the speakers as one-half of the World
Tag Team Champions, Raven headed out to the ring on his own. Then, "Shattered Dreams" sounded
over the speakers as Goldust made his way out to the ring. Goldust apparently made the challenge for
this match after taking a loss to Raven and Kane last week in a tag team match
with Randy Orton. Raven and Goldust
fought it out in a decent brawl. The
ending would see Raven hit a bulldog on Goldust for 2 1/2. Raven grabbed Goldust and went for another
bulldog but Goldust shoved him off.
Goldust drilled Raven with a hard right then caught him with a bulldog
for the one ... two ... THR ... NO!
Raven got the shoulder up!
Goldust went for a reverse neckbreaker but Raven back kicked him low
then caught Goldust with the Evenflow DDT for the one ... two ... THREE! Raven pulls out the singles win over Goldust. WINNER: Raven in 5:03. Rating: * 1/2 We headed outside
the arena to see a long black limousine pull up and out stepped Booker T. Booker grabbed his bag and headed into the
ring. Booker's got his game face on
already for his big match tonight with Scott Steiner... We then cut to
The Coach, who was with Chris Jericho and Brock Lesnar for some comments... JERICHO:
"First of all, Coach, I'd like to pose a question to you and to all
the Jericholics out there. Is a steel
chair a foreign object?" COACH:
"Yes..." JERICHO: "And
striking an opponent with a steel chair would result in an immediate
disqualification?" COACH: "Yes
it would..." JERICHO: "One
more question, how did Rob Van Dam put Chris Jericho down for the three
count? Was it with the Five Star Frog
Splash? No, I kicked out of that. What did he use? Oh that's right, a Van Daminator and a Van
Terminator. Not one but two blatant
chair shots. One last question, what did
the referee do?" COACH: "He
counted your shoulders down..." JERICHO:
"Thank you, I think my point has been made. Now I would demand for a disqualifaction, the
decision to be over turned, a fine, a suspension, a stripping of the title but
as far as I'm concerned, Rob Van Dam got exactly what he deserved last
week. RVD, *IF* you come back, Chris
Jericho will be waiting..." LESNAR:
"ENOUGH! Enough about you
... I want Kane." JERICHO:
"I've got a better idea, Raven's pulling the strings here. Come on, you looked into that big freak's
eyes, there's nothing there. So lets hit
'em where it hurts, let's take those World Tag Team Titles. You get to destroy Kane and we get some gold
in process." (2) Eddy Guerrero v. La Parka "Siempre
Peligroso" by Cypress Hill blared over the speakers as Eddy Guerrero
sauntered down to the ring. Guerrero has
been very vocal about his lack of opportunities over the past month or so in
NGW. Then, "Best Way To Die"
by Jet Set Satellite blared over the speakers as La Parka headed out to the
ring. Parka danced and Guerrero smacked
him in the face. Guerrero was on the top
of his game here and looking to prove a real point in the ring. The ending would see Guerrero lock Parka in a
Gory Special then spin around into a neckbreaker for two. Guerrero went for a brain buster but Parka
blocked it and hit a suplex. Parka
headed up top and came off with the Twisting Bodyblock but Guerrero dodged
it. Guerrero spiked Parka with the brain
buster then headed up top and hit the Frog Splash for the one ... two ...
THREE! Eddy Guerrero is one of the best
in the world and he showed it here tonight. WINNER: Eddy Guerrero in 5:30. Rating: *** 1/4 We headed to
Terri, who was outside Booker T's locker room.
Terri said she attempted to get some comments from Booker but he
refused... We then cut to
The Coach, who was standing by with 'The Redneck Messiah' Jamie Knoble, prior
to his shot at the World Cruiserweight Title... KNOBLE:
"Ohhhhhhhweeee! Jamie Knoble
is back on Ring Wars and I'm gonna take that World Cruiserweight Title. I'm gonna take it back to West Virginia,
shine it up real nice and hide it in the shower." COACH: "The
shower?" KNOBLE: "I
may be The Redneck Messiah but that don't mean those other damn rednecks won't
try and steal my goods. So see I put
everything that's valuable in the shower, 'cause no redneck will ever look in
the shower. By god, I'll put that dang
Cruiserweight Title right next to my bar-be-que flavored chew. Jamie Knoble, the World by god Cruiserweight
Champion, I'mma be able to buy me a whole case of Chuck Lites." The World
Cruiserweight Champion, Devon Storm walked up to Knoble. STORM: "By
god would you shut up and get your ass to the ring. Wait, one more thing, Jamie. How about you try using that shower once and
awhile? Damn, man." KNOBLE: "I
ain't got no runnin' water, boy, but I will after I take that World
Cruiserweight by god Title tonight!" (3) Jamie Knoble v. Devon Storm (c) - NGW World Cruiserweight
Title "A Country
Boy Can Survive" by Hank Williams Jr sounded over the speakers as 'The
Redneck Messiah' Jamie Knoble headed out to the ring. Then, "Terrible Lie" by Nine Inch
Nails blasted over the speakers as the NGW World Cruiserweight Champion,
'Dangerous' Devon Storm made his way out to the ring with Daffney. After offending (and defeating) a string of
cruiserweights on RAGE, Knoble was granted his shot at the World Cruiserweight
Title here on Ring Wars against Devon Storm.
Knoble controlled the match with an agression and force that not a lot
of cruiserweights possess. The ending
would see Storm go for a clothesline but Knoble ducked and planted Storm with a
backdrop suplex. Knoble headed up top
and came off with a flying legdrop but Storm rolled out of the way. Storm hit a front layout suplex for the one
... two ... THR ... NO! Storm slammed
down Knoble and went up top. Storm hit a
big flying splash for the one ... two ... THR ... NO! Knoble got the shoulder
up! Storm went for the Mind Bender but Knoble slipped around back and hit a
release german suplex. Knoble locked
Storm in the Trailer Hitch but Storm was in the ropes. Knoble scooped up Storm for a Tombstone
Piledriver but Storm floated over and hit the Mind Bender for the one ... two
... THREE! 'Dangerous' Devon Storm
retains the World Cruiserweight Title in a hard fought match over Jamie Knoble. WINNER: Devon Storm in 9:35. Rating: *** 1/4 (Devon Storm retained the NGW World Cruiserweight Title.) We headed backstage
to see The Coach getting some comments from the NGW Commissioner, Shawn
Michaels... MICHAELS: "As
a result of the Wolfpac's actions earlier tonight, I've made a match. A match for right here tonight. 'The Prototype' John Cena one-on-one with Konnan..." Raven walked into
the Commissioner's Office... MICHAELS:
"Raven..." RAVEN: "You
can't seriously just give them a title shot.
You can't give Jericho and Lesnar a title shot." MICHAELS:
"Well, yeah, I can..." RAVEN:
"They're not a proven tag team.
Why don't you make them earn it?
Right now, they don't deserve a shot ahead of all the other teams here
in NGW. What about them? But more importantly, what about me? What about Raven? What about what I think?" MICHAELS: "I
think for once, you're making some sense.
They should earn the shot so here's what I'm gonna do. Starting this Saturday on RAGE, there will be
an eight team tournament that will conclude on next week's Ring Wars. The winners get a shot at your World Tag Team
Titles at New York Knockout." (4) Konnan v. John Cena "Don't Turn
Your Back" sounded over the speakers as the Wolfpac's 'K-Dawg' Konnan
headed out to the ring. Then, "More
Human Than Human (NIN Remix)" by White Zombie blasted over the speakers as
'The Prototype' John Cena raced out of the entrance. Cena took down Konnan and hammered away on
Konnan. Konnan rolled out of the ring to
escape. The lights flickered a few
times. Konnan looked around and Cena
drilled him with a baseball slide dropkick.
Cena threw Konnan back into the ring and went to work. Konnan seemed to be pre-occupied, thinking
Vampiro was gonna strike. The ending
would see Cena catch Konnan in a powerslam then head to the top but Konnan
crotched him. Konnan went up and hit a
superplex for two. The lights flickered
again. Konnan looked around then picked
up Cena and sent him into the ropes.
Konnan went for a rolling clothesline but Cena caught him with the
Proto-Bomb! Cena covers ... one ... two
... THREE! John Cena takes a big win
over Konnan, getting some revenge for earlier tonight. WINNER: John Cena in 5:06. Rating: * 1/4 We returned from
the break to The Coach, who was standing by backstage but all of a sudden the
Wolfpac walked right past Coach. Coach
and the camera followed Steiner, Jarrett and Konnan. The Wolfpac headed down the hall then burst
into a locker room where Vampiro was.
Vampiro was backed into the corner and tried to run through the three
men but Steiner drilled Vampiro in the gut with a lead pipe. Konnan nailed Vampiro in the face with a
crowbar busting him wide open. The
Wolfpac brutally assaulted Vampiro, leaving him a bloody mess as officials
finally arrived on the scene. (5) Super Crazzy v. Low Ki' v. Rey Misterio Jr The winner of
this Three Way Dance will go to NGW New York Knockout to challenge Devon Storm
for the World Cruiserweight Title.
"Roadhouse Blues Remix" blared over the speakers as 'The
Insane Luchadore' Super Crazzy headed out to the ring. "Boom" by Soulfly blasted over the
speakers as Low Ki' made his way out to the ring. Then, "Ashes To Ashes" by Madd One
blared over the speakers as Rey Misterio Jr. headed out to the ring. This one was full of incredible fast paced
action. A contrast to the Knoble-Storm
match earlier which was mainly focused on technical wrestling. The ending would see Misterio hit a Misterio
Bulldog on Crazzy for the one ... two ... THR ... NO! Misterio went out to the apron but Crazzy
came over and drilled Rey with a forearm.
Crazzy suplexed Rey in then hit a moonsault for the one ... two ... THR
... NO! Crazzy picked up Rey for the
Crazzy Bomb but Rey countered it with a hurricanrana for the one ... two ...
THREE! Rey Misterio Jr. eliminates Super
Crazzy! Low Ki' came in and sent Rey into
the ropes and went for a backdrop but Rey caught him in a headscissors, sending
him out of the ring. Super Crazzy then
decked Rey from behind. Psicosis came in
and the two started beating on Rey. Low
Ki came back in and kicked Psicosis in the legs then took him out with a
jumping side kick! Crazzy tried to send
Low Ki into the ropes but Low Ki reversed it and Rey backdropped Crazzy out of
the ring. The referee ruled the match a
no contest, which was an unpopular decision. WINNER: No Contest in 8:41. Rating: *** We returned to
Joey Styles and Paul Heyman at ringside.
We looked over the footage again of Taz walking out to the ring,
interrupting Rob Van Dam and putting him through a table with a
Tazmission-Plex. Styles then brought up
Rob Van Dam on the phone... STYLES: "Rob,
first off, how are you feeling?" VAN DAM: "I'm
in a lot of pain but pain is all part of the game when you're Rob Van
Dam." STYLES:
"What's the extent of your injury?" VAN DAM:
"Luckily, my neck wasn't broken, proving once again that you can't
break RVD. You can hurt me but you can't
break me. The injury I suffered last
week was a severe stinger. I lost
feeling in my hands and feet for a good four or five hours before it came
back." HEYMAN: "Rob
Van Dam, Paul Heyman here. Let's get
right down to the heart of the matter.
We've seen you team up with Taz on a number of occassions here in
NGW. What in the hell did you do to piss
Taz off and prompt that attack last week?" VAN DAM: "I
don't have a clue what Taz's problem is with me. We're not friends, we don't talk but we
seemed to be able to watch each other's backs when teaming up. All I can think of is maybe Taz is just plain
jealous. Sure he's Taz, the Human Suplex
Machine, the U.S. Heavyweight Champion but he's not the World Champion, he's
not Rob Van Dam." ["WAR MACHINE"] The NGW United
States Heavyweight Champion, 'The Human Suplex Machine' Taz walked out of the
entrance and down to the ring. Taz
grabbed a microphone, disregarding the fact Van Dam was 'on the phone'... TAZ: "You can
just cut the damn line to Rob Van Dam cause I don't deal with people over the
phone. I deal with people in their face,
just like I dealt with Rob Van Dam last week.
Now you're asking yourself, what did Rob Van Dam do to piss Taz
off? What would make me try to cripple
Rob Van Dam last week? I did it because
I can. Everybody from the fans, to Joey
Styles to the boys in the back seem to be forgetting just what I'm
capable. They're forgetting why these
hands are weapons and why Taz is the one man crime spree. I was written off against Brock Lesnar but I
took Brock Lesnar to places that no one back there has been able to. I know what you're saying, that Lesnar had me
beat. YOU DON'T KNOW THAT! I'm still the United States Heavyweight
Champion but that ain't enough. I want
what Rob Van Dam has. I want his
belt. I want his spot and last week, as
far as I'm concerned, I took it. I am
the World Champion. The belt coming
around my waist is all that's left cause last week, I put Rob Van Dam out. RVD, you can downplay your pain all you want
but I'm daring you, no, I'm beggin' ya, brah, crawl outta that hospital bed and
either hand the World Championship over to me or get sent back to that hospital
in a bodybag. I AM TAZ. BEAT ROB VAN DAM ... I WILL ... SURVIVE ... I
WON'T LET YOU!" Taz threw down
the microphone and walked out of the ring.
Styles tried to get Rob Van Dam on the line but Van Dam was gone... We cut to a shot
of 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner leaving his dressing room. Scott Steiner returns to action next. We then saw a very focused Booker T walk out
his dressing room. The Main Event is up
next... (Main Event) Scott Steiner v. Booker T "I Need A
Freak" by Too $hort blared over the speakers as Midajah led 'Big Poppa
Pump' Scott Steiner, the new leader of the Wolfpac, out to the ring. Steiner took a leave of absence after losing
the World Championship to Rob Van Dam after holding it for the first eight
months of NGW's history. Steiner

become the leader of the Wolfpac.
