NGW Ring Wars - July 22 / 2002

-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-

We opened up right inside the arena with no opening...

["I Need A Freak" by Too $hort]

'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner stormed out of the entrance, went right down to the ring and grabbed the microphone...

STEINER:  "Cut it! CUT IT!  Ya know I'm in no mood to come out here and talk trash and talk smack.  I came out here because last night I was robbed and I was jobbed.  I came out here because I should still be the World Champion.  I never lost that belt last night, it was stolen from me!  Shawn Michaels tried to railroad me outta the title by bringing in Kevin Nash.  I punked Kevin Nash out but the Heartbreak Pussy Superkicked a chair in my face!  I got pinned but I had my foot on the ropes.  Roll the damn footage!  First, I nailed Nash low.  Should have been disqualified.  Second, I knocked out the stupid referee.  Automatic DQ, right?  Wrong.  Third, Shawn Michaels Superkicks a chair in my face.  Kevin Nash should be disqualified.  Fourth, I have my foot on the ropes, that three count shouldn't count!  There you have it, not one, not two, not three but FOUR reasons that I am still the World Champion!"

["Oh! Oh! Shawn!"]

The NGW Commissioner, Shawn Michaels walked out onto the stage looking very somber...

MICHAELS:  "You know what, Steiner?  You're right.  As much as it pains me to say this, I've gotta swallow my pride and do the right thing.  Last night, I let the moment get the best of me.  You threatened my family, my safety and my manhood and you brought back up somebody I thought was dead and buried.  You brought back up the Showstopper, the Icon, the Main Eventer, that Shawn Michaels.  Last night, I screwed you and that's not the mistake I made.  The mistake I made was comprimising the integrity of New Generation Wrestling and the World Championship.  I put the credibility of the World Championship on the line with my actions.  And after consultation with the NGW Board of Directors, as much as I hate to do this, the decision has been made.  The decision of last night's match between you and Kevin Nash has been THROWN OUT and therefore, Scott Steiner is *STILL* the NGW World Champion.  Damn."

STEINER:  "Good, now I want my damn belt back!"

["Wolfpac Theme"]

'Big Sexy' Kevin Nash stepped out of the entrance with the World Championship over his shoulder.  Nash looked at Michaels, who held up his hands and said he had no choice...

NASH:  "Hey Steiner!  Congradulations, you're still the World Champion.  You want your belt?  Why don't you come take it, big man?"

STEINER:  "Come take it?  You're not man enough to come down to this ring and hand it over."

Kevin Nash started to walk down to the ring.  Nash stepped over the top rope and right into the ring, going toe to toe with Steiner.  Nash took the World Championship and placed it on Steiner's shoulder but didn't move out of his face.

STEINER:  "That's right!  Everything is right now!  You can leave..."

MICHAELS:  "Hold up a minute.  You may still be the World Champion, Steiner but I'm still the Commissioner and tonight ... You're gonna put that World Championship on the line against Kevin Nash ... NO HOLDS BARRED!"

Nash smiled then walked out of the ring.  STEINER-NASH NO HOLDS BARRED for the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ... TONIGHT! What a night its gonna be!

Opening Match: Chris Candido v. Brock Lesnar.  "Back In Black" by AC/DC blared over the speakers as 'No Gimmicks Needed' Chris Candido headed out to the ring.  Then, "Head Up" by Deftones blasted over the speakers as Brock Lesnar walked out to the ring.  Lesnar seemed more enraged then ever after being put down with about ten chairshots from Stone Cold Steve Austin last night.  A normal man probably wouldn't even be able to compete, let alone be the dominant force that Brock was in the ring.  The ending came quick as Candido rocked Lesnar with a pair of dropkicks then headed up top but Lesnar caught Candido and planted him with a spinebuster.  Lesnar picked up Candido and finished him off with the Terminator for the one-two-three.  Brock Lesnar continues to run through opponent after opponent.

WINNER: Brock Lesnar in 0:55.

Rating: 1/2*

["Come Out And Play" by Offspring]

Out of the entrance walked 'Sick' Scott Vick, Chris Kanyon, Kane and finally Raven.  Raven and Kane had their newly won World Tag Team Titles with them.  Raven slouched down in the corner with a microphone but Kanyon took it for a moment...

KANYON:  "All I gotta say Raven is who better then you?  Who better then Raven?  Actually, who better then all of us?  I can tell you who isn't and that's the Dudley Boyz.  It was great the way you ... and Kane just took The DUdley Boyz out and now you're the World Tag Team Champions."

Kanyon handed off the microphone to Raven...

RAVEN:  "You know, Kanyon, its good to see you're in such good spirits after getting choked out by Taz last night.  Its good to see that coming within an inch of the U.S. Heavyweight Title is good enough for you.  While we're a lot alike, Kanyon, that's the one difference between me and you.  You're satisfied with that while I'm never satisfied, I'm never happy, I'm never content with my accomplishments.  Maybe its because when I was eight years old, my mother told me, don't even bother trying because you won't amount to anything anyway.  You're just a cinder in the furnace of the damned. Yet somehow, I fought my way out of the gutter and I made myself who I am.  And right now?  I'm a World Tag Team Champion.  But do I get the recognition of a Rob Van Dam?  Of a Stone Cold Steve Austin?  Of a Taz?  No!  What about me?  WHAT ABOUT RAVEN?  I've felt that pain my whole life but now I will not stop until everyone has felt my pain!  Quote the Raven, Nevermore!"

We headed to a break.  When we return, Raven and Kane will be in non-title action...

Match #2: Raven & Kane v. Essa Rios & La Parka - Non-Title.  We returned from the break as The Flock had left ringside while Raven and Kane, the World Tag Team Champions, were still in the ring awaiting their opponents.  Then, "Papi Chulo" by Funkdoobiest sounded over the speakers as Essa Rios and La Parka made their way out to the ring.  This would be La Parka's debut match here in NGW but he got a decent pop as a lot of the fans remembered the charasmatic luchadore.  Parka and Rios hit and moved, made quick tags and tried to isolate Raven in their corner as a win here would be huge.  The ending would see Raven go for a russian legsweep on Rios but Rios elbowed him off then slammed down Raven and headed up top.  Rios came off with the Moonsault but Raven rolled out of the way!  Rios crawled over and tagged in La Parka.  Parka chased after Raven but Raven made the tag to Kane.  Parka jumped Kane as he stepped over the top but Kane quickly shoved Parka off then came at him but Parka ducked a clothesline then pulled out Kane's legs from behind.  Parka quickly went up top and came off with a Twisting Bodyblock!  It hits! Parka covers Kane for the one ... two ... NO! Kane kicks out with authority!  Parka went for a suplex but Kane blocked it and powered up Parka for a running powerslam but Parka slipped down and went back up top.  Parka came off with a diving lariat but Kane caught him by the throat and planted Parka with the Choke Slam for the one ... two ... THREE!  A good showing from Essa Rios and La Parka but they go down at the hands of the World Tag Team Champions.

WINNERS: Raven and Kane in 6:13.

Rating: **

["Siempre Peligroso" by Cypress Hill]

Eddy Guerrero headed out of the entrance in street clothes.  Guerrero came up on the losing end of last night's 30 Minute Ironman match with Rob Van Dam after perhaps getting a little cocky after going up 3-1 early.  Guerrero took a microhpone...

GUERRERO:  "Hold up!  All you people out there that think Rob Van Dam beat me last night, usted es incorrecto!  You're wrong!  Nobody beats Eddy Guerrero but Eddy Guerrero!  Yeah last night, homeys, I was the one that made the mistake and I was the one that let RVD get his hand raised.  I dominated Rob Van Dam, Golpeé su asno con el pie por treinta minutos ... I kicked his ass for thirty freaking minutes, man!  And when the thirty minutes was up who was standing on their feet and who was flat on their back?  I was one my feet while Rob Van Dam couldn't move cause I just hit him with the real Frog Splash.  RVD, ese, anybody who saw the match last night knows who the better man is and that's EDDY GUERRERO!"

["Break The Walls Down" by Sevendust]

Guerrero was interrupted as 'Y2J' Chris Jericho emerged from the entrance.  Jericho walked down to the ring and took a microphone of his own...

JERICHO:  "I don't mean to step on your toes, Eddy, but all the Jericholics need to hear from their hero."

GUERRERO:  "No problem, vato, go right ahead..."

JERICHO:  "Thank you.  Eddy, I can relate to you because just like Chris Jericho you've been show a complete lack of respect here in NGW.  You're one of the greatest wrestlers in the world and I'm larger than life itself, yet it seems like we keep getting the shaft!  And its gonna stop right here and now.  Just like everybody knows deep down inside that you're better then Rob Van Dam, everybody knows that Chris Jericho is a hell of a lot better then Stone Cold Steve Austin.  Not only did I come in here and single handedly destroy Steve Austin's dream of becoming the World Champion, but I beat him in my debut and then last night ... Haha .. Last night, I had Austin beat again.  I had him down and out after I hit him with his own Stone Cold Stunner."

GUERRERO:  "I saw it, man, you had him down for the un, dos, tres with the Stunner."

JERICHO:  "But what happened?  Oh the referee was conveintly knocked out of course.  So I do the right thing, I go and check on the referee that Stone Cold knocked out.  I go and see if he's alright.  I help the chubby little bastard back into the ring and what do I get for my troubles?  Attacked from behind by Stone Cold.  So I came out here tonight to tell all of you morons that..."

["WAR MACHINE"]

Chris Jericho was cut off in mid-sentence as the 'Human Suplex Machine' Taz, NGW U.S. Heavyweight Champion, walked out onto the stage...

TAZ:  "I'm gonna tell you what you're gonna do, Chris.  You're gonna shut your stinkin' mouth, you're gonna clench those fists real tight, and you're gonna fight like you've never fought before because the one man crime spree Taz wants both of you crying sons a bitches in a match tonight!"

JERICHO:  "Haha .. You know what Taz?  One Man Crime Spree?  Human Suplex Machine?  You need to realize that you're not larger than life like Chris Jericho.  Infact, you're not larger than anything..."

TAZ:  "Real funny guy you are Chris Jericho.  How bouts I don't wait until later to choke your ass out?  How bout I come down there right now and take your oxygen?!"

Taz threw down the microphone and charged into the ring after Jericho.  Guerrero quickly jumped Taz from behind and the two double teamed the U.S. Heavyweight Champion.  Taz made a brief comeback but it was supressed by Guerrero and Jericho.  That was until Rob Van Dam bolted into the ring with a steel chair and cleared out Guerrero and Jericho!  RVD picked up the microphone...

VAN DAM:  "If you two crybabies are looking for a fight, you're not gonna get a fight tonight.  You're gonna get an ass kicking courtesy of Taz and ... ROB VAN DAM!"

Chris Jericho and Eddy Guerrero accepted the challenge and later we'll have that big tag team match...

Match #3: Simon Diamond & Swinger v. Sabu & Devon Storm - Number One Contenders.  "Simon Says" by Drain STH blasted over the speakers as Dawn Marie led Simon Diamond & Swinger out to the ring for our next match.  Then, "Terrible Lie" by Nine Inch Nails blared over the speakers as 'Dangerous' Devon Storm and 'The Human Highlight Reel' Sabu headed out with Bill Alfonso.  Sabu & Storm won the Four Corners match last night by last eliminating Simon & Swinger.  The winners here will go to SuperClash to challenge Raven & Kane for the World Tag Team Titles.  The ending would see Sabu go for a DDT on Simon but Simon countered with a northern lights suplex for two.   Simon sent Sabu into the ropes and both men got caught with a double clothesline then made tags to their respective partners.  Storm ducked a clothesline from Swinger and hit a reverse neckbreaker.  Storm went for the Mind Bender but Swinger slipped behind and went for a german suplex but Storm rolled forward with a cradle for the one ... two ... THREE!  Storm takes the pin on Swinger for the win and shot at the World Tag Team Titles at SuperClash!

WINNERS: Sabu and Devon Storm in 6:55.

Rating: * 1/4

The Coach got some comments from the still NGW World Cruiserweight Champion, Rey Misterio Jr. ...

MISTERIO:  "You know Coach, I think I've proved that when it looks like I'm down and out, when it looks there's no way that I can win ... I find a way to get it done.  I was as surprised as all of you when Psicosis came out to try and help Juvy but both of them made the same mistake as everyone that's ever gotten in the ring with me.  They underestimated me.  Go ahead, take me lightly, think that I'm too small, but remember this ... I've got what you want."

We then cut to a shot outside the arena as a black pickup truck pulled up and out stepped 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin!  The Texas Rattlesnake is in the building!  Stone Cold will challenge the NGW World Champion at SuperClash but what's he doing here tonight?!

Match #4: Psicosis v. Rey Misterio Jr. - Non-Title.  "Loco" by Coal Chamber blasted over the speakers as Psicosis headed out to the ring.  Then, "Ashes To Ashes" by Madd One blared over the speakers as the NGW World Cruiserweight Champion, Rey Misterio Jr. made his way out for this non-title contest.  Misterio was looking for some revenge after Psicosis tried to help Juventud Guerrera beat Misterio for the World Cruiserweight Title last night.  However, a miscue between Psicosis and Juventud led to Misterio retaining the title.  This would be a great match as often the case when these long time rivals hook it up.  The ending would see Psicosis go for a falcon arrow but Misterio countered it with a face slam!  Misterio covered for the one ... two ... THR ... NO! Psicosis caught Misterio in the chin with a leg lariat then headed up top.  Psicosis came off with the Guillotine Legdrop but Misterio rolled out of the way!  Misterio hit a dropkick to the face and covered for the one ... two ... THR ... NO!  Juventud Guerrera bolted out.  Misterio and Psicosis got up, Psicosis went behind and grabbed Misterio.  Juvy came in with a springboard dropkick but Misterio moved and Juvy nailed Psicosis!  Rey took Juvy out with a clothesline.  Rey caught himself on the apron then came in with a Springboard Hurricanrana for the one ... two ... THREE!  Misterio defies the odds once again and is victorious!

WINNER: Rey Misterio Jr. in 12:25.

Rating: **** 1/4

After the match, Psicosis and Juventud Guerrera didn't seem too pleased with each other as we headed to break...

The Coach got some comments from 'The Chosen One' Jeff Jarrett...

JARRETT:  "Last night, I went out and did exactly what I said I was gonna do.  I beat that freak Vampiro within an inch of his damn life and walked away the winner..."

COACH:  "With all due respect, Jeff, you won by disqualification after Vampiro used the guitar that you brought into the ring."

JARRETT:  "Haha ... Listen to me, Coach, The Chosen One won the match and that's all that matters.  It doesn't make a difference how it happened because the better man had his hand raised, me, Jeff Jarrett."

  Vampiro walks up to Jarrett...

JARRETT:  "Well look who we have here, the loser."

VAMPIRO:  "If you can be happy with a win like that, good for you because I'll take that DQ loss and be happy with the fact I gave you a taste of your own medicine, Jarrett.  How about you leave the guitar in the back next week and face me like a man ... NO HOLDS BARRED!"

JARRETT:  "Listen here, slapnuts, I'll take you up on that challenge because I am the Chosen One but when I'm done with you next week, you won't be painting your face for kicks, you'll be painting to cover up the bruises.  Choke on that!"

Jarrett walked off while Vampiro cracked a slight smile as he'll get Jeff Jarrett - No Holds Barred next week...

Match #5: Taz & Rob Van Dam v. Eddy Guerrero & Chris Jericho.  "WAR MACHINE" blasted over the speakers as the NGW United States Heavyweight Champion, 'The Human Suplex Machine' Taz walked out to the ring.  "Walk" by Pantera blared over the speakers as 'The Whole F'N Show' Rob Van Dam made his way out.  Then, "Siempre Peligroso" by Cypress Hill brought Eddy Guerrero down to the ring.  "Break The Walls Down" by Sevendust blasted over the speakers as 'Y2J' Chris Jericho made his way out.  Taz and RVD were both victorious last night with Taz retaining his U.S. Heavyweight Title over Kanyon while Rob Van Dam came back to beat Eddy Guerrero in the Ironman Match.  Chris Jericho on the other hand came up short against Stone Cold Steve Austin.  This match came about earlier when Taz attempted to shut up the whining of Chris Jericho and Eddy Guerrero.  This would be a real good tag team match that would've been a main event on any other week except for the fact that the World Championship is on the line tonight.  The closing moments of the match would see Taz go for a Head & Arm Tazplex on Guerrero but Guerrero raked the eyes then hit a back suplex on Taz.  Guerrero made the tag to Jericho.  Jericho chopped Taz then sent him into the ropes but Taz came off with a big clothesline then tossed Jericho with a T-Bone Tazplex!  Taz made the tag to Rob Van Dam!  Van Dam came in with two kicks to Jericho then a spin kick but Jericho ducked and sweeped out Van Dam's legs for the Walls Of Jericho but RVD rolled up Jericho for the one ... two ... THR ... NO!  Both men got up and Van Dam caught Jericho with a thrust kick then a split legged moonsault for the one ... two ... THR ... Guerrero breaks the pin!  Taz came in and chased Eddy out of the ring.  Jericho and RVD got up, Jericho kicked RVD then went for a Stunner!  Van Dam shoved him off but Jericho pulled out Van Dam's legs and turned him over into the Walls Of Jericho!  But Van Dam was close to the ropes and got them!  Jericho got frustrated, rolled to the outside and grabbed a chair.  Jericho came back in but VAN DAMINATOR!  Van Dam covers Jericho for the one ... two ... THREE!  Rob Van Dam gets a huge pinfall over Chris Jericho!

WINNERS: Rob Van Dam & Taz in 11:28.

Rating: ***

After the match, Chris Jericho pulled his hands from his face to reveal a VERY bloody nose!  Jericho complained to the referee but the decision stood...

We cut to a shot of 'Big Sexy' Kevin Nash walking out of his dressing room.  We then cut to a shot of the NGW World Champion, 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner making his way through the back.  The World Championship is on the line ... No Holds Barred ... NEXT!  We then cut to an unexpected shot of 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin lacing up his boots, then standing up to reveal a referee's shirt!  Austin chugged a beer then tossed down the can and left his dressing room...

Main Event: Scott Steiner (c) v. Kevin Nash - NGW World Championship - No Holds Barred.  "Glass Shatters" by Disturbed blasted over the speakers as 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin headed out to the ring in a referee's shirt.  Finekl announced Austin as the special guest referee apointed by Shawn Michaels for this big Main Event.  "I Need A Freak" by Too $hort blared over the speakers as the NGW World Champion, 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner made his way out to the ring along with Midajah.  Then, "Wolfpac Theme" sounded over the speakers as 'Big Sexy' Kevin Nash headed out.  Nash hit the ring and went right after Steiner.  The fight was on from the opening bell.  Stone Cold would just sit back and let these two powerhouses fight it out as he'll face what's left at SuperClash.  Kevin Nash had a taste of the NGW World Championship last night but it turned out that it was only a taste as the result of the match was thrown out and therefore, Steiner never lost the World Championship to Nash.  Steiner seemed more prepared then last night and worked over Nash's lower back, softening him up for the Steiner Recliner.  The closing moments of the match would see Steiner hammer Nash in the corner then send him into the ropes but Nash reversed it and hit a big boot then a sidewalk slam for the one ... two ... THR ... NO!  Steiner got the shoulder up!  Nash argued with Austin for a moment then Steiner came from behind with a low blow.  Midajah tossed Steiner the lead pipe and Steiner started laying into the lower back of Nash with several pipe shots until Austin grabbed the pipe from Steiner's hands and threw it out of the ring.  Steiner and Austin had a brief staredown before Steiner went back to work on Nash.  Steiner hit a backbreaker then a second and a third!  Steiner then locked Nash in the Steiner Recliner!  Nash was in tons of pain but with his long arms, managed to get the ropes for the break!  Steiner and Austin again had words.  Nash was trying to pull himself up in the corner but Steiner drove his shoulder into Nash's gut.  Steiner climbed the corner and pounded on Nash but Nash grabs Steiner, walks out and Jacknife Powerbomb out of the corner!  But Nash can't cover!  Nash collapsed in pain, holding his lower back.  Austin started to count both men down but then said 'F That' and stopped the count.  Nash FINALLY after over a minute, crawled ever so slowly over and draped an arm on Steiner for the...

      ONE...

                  TWO...

...THREE! NO! NO! ONLY TWO! Steiner got the shoulder up!  Nash almost had it but no!  Steiner kicked out!  Nash slowly got to his feet and pulled in Steiner for the Jacknife but Steiner again went low on Nash!  Midajah passed Steiner a chair and Steiner drilled Nash in the back once then once more!  Austin tried to grab the chair but Steiner pulled it away then drilled Nash in the back a third time.  Steiner went for a fourth shot but this time Stone Cold grabbed the chair and threw it out of the ring.  Steiner locked Nash in the Steiner Recliner in the center of the ring.  Nash was in so much pain that he faded off.  Austin checked the arm once ... IT FALLS!  Twice ... IT FALLS!  The third time ... It ... It ... FALLS!  That's it!  Scott Steiner retains the NGW World Championship over Kevin Nash!

WINNER: Scott Steiner in 10:33.

Rating: * 3/4

(Scott Steiner retained the NGW World Heavyweight Title.)

Afterwards, Scott Steiner demanded that Stone Cold give him the belt and raise his hand.  Austin passed Steiner the belt ... raised his hand ... then flipped Steiner the double bird and hit him with a STUNNER!  Austin pulled off his shirt, picked up the belt and pointed to himself saying he's gonna finish Steiner off at SuperClash!
