NGW Ring Wars - June 17 / 2002

-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-

We opened up with a montage of footage from the past two weeks showing Scott Steiner's repeated attacks on the NGW Commissioner, Shawn Michaels.  All Michaels wanted was a little respect but instead he got assaulted again.  Just six days from Hostile City Showdown, how will the Heartbreak Kid respond?

"Praise" by Sevendust played in the background of the NGW Ring Wars opening sequence which featured a montage of various New Generation Wrestling superstars such as; Saturn, Too Cold Scorpio, The Sandman, Chris Kanyon, The Dudley Boyz, Taz, The Acolytes, William Regal, Sabu, Eddy Guerrero, Vampiro, Raven, Jeff Jarrett, Rob Van Dam, 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and more.  This is New Generation Wrestling and this is RING WARS...

["Oh! Oh! Shawn!"]

Right off the bat, the NGW Commissioner, 'The Heartbreak Kid' Shawn Michaels walked out of the entrance and down to the ring.  Michaels was sporting a shiner thanks to the sucker punch from Big Poppa Pump last week.  HBK took the microphone...

MICHAELS:  "I'm not gonna mix words, I'm gonna give it to ya straight up so Scott Steiner, get your ass down to this ring RIGHT NOW!"

["I Need A Freak" by Too $hort]

Michaels didn't have to wait long as the NGW World Champion, 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner headed out to the ring.  Steiner made a move towards Michaels then backed off and laughed.  Steiner flexed then took a microphone...

STEINER:  "What're you gonna do?  Nothing!  Didn't you hear me loud and clear last week?  I'm untouchable ... I'm Big Poppa Pump and you can't do **** to me!"

MICHAELS:  "That's where you're wrong, Steiner.  I can and I will do somethin' to you.  You crossed the line last week, for the second time you put your hands on me.  Maybe you've forgotten who the HELL I AM?  I'm Shawn Michaels and I don't lay down for ANYBODY!  So here's what I'm gonna do ... I'm gonna put a stop to you."

STEINER:  "You think so?  You can't stop me, what're you gonna come out of retirement?  Go ahead and I'll put you a wheelchair."

MICHAELS:  "Nah, I ain't that stupid, Steiner.  I don't fight with my fists anymore, I fight with my mind and my power.  So as of this moment I'm STRIPPING you of the World Championship and suspending you indefinatly without pay!  So why don't you just hand over that title belt and get to steppin' jack!"

Steiner flipped out, throwing down his sunglasses and grabbing Shawn Michaels by the throat, shouting at him.  It looked like Steiner was gonna explode when...

["WAR MACHINE"]

The NGW United States Heavyweight Champion, 'The Human Suplex Machine' Taz walked out of the entrance.  Taz walked down into the ring with a microphone...

TAZ:  "I suggest you take your damn hands off the Commissioner before I have to choke you out!"

Steiner let go of Michaels and picked up the microphone, turning his attention to Taz...

STEINER:  "Choke me out?  You couldn't choke me out if your life depended on it.  You're nothing compared to me.  I'm a genetic freak, I've got the largest arms..."

TAZ:  "...in the world, yeah, yeah, we know already!  Give it a rest, Steiner, we all can see your jacked up but you know what?  No mattah how big or how bad you are, anybody can get choked out!""

STEINER:  "You wanna try me on for size?"

TAZ:  "Shawn Michaels, brotha, I don't want you to strip Steiner of the title, I don't want you to suspend him without pay, that's no punishment.  I want you to make him that World Championship on the line this Sunday at Hostile City Showdown against the one man crime spree.  I'll punish you, Steiner and then I won't just be the United States Heavyweight Champion, I'll be the World Champion."

MICHAELS:  "That sounds like a perfect solution to me ... the match is signed for this Sunday at Hostile City Showdown.  Steiner, you put your hands on me again that's strike three and no one will change my mind from throwing your ass out of this company for good."

STEINER:  "I'll keep doing whatever the hell I want cause this punk can't beat me, nobody can beat Big Poppa Pump!"

TAZ:  "You don't worry about HBK, brotha, you worry about TAZ, you worry about getting choked out this Sunday.  BEAT ME IF YOU CAN ... SURVIVE IF I LET YOU!"

It's on ... Scott Steiner and Taz, one-on-one for the NGW World Championship this Sunday at Hostile City Showdown.  We'll be back with action as tonight we have a huge main event with 'STONE COLD' STEVE AUSTIN going one-on-one with 'THE CHOSEN ONE' JEFF JARRETT!  All that and much more just six days from Hostile City Showdown.

Opening Match: Rob Van Dam v. Al Snow.  "Walk" by Pantera blasted over the speakers as 'The Whole F'n Show' Rob Van Dam headed out to the ring to kick off the action.  Then, "Breathe" by Prodigy blared over the speakers as Al Snow made his way out to the ring.  Rob Van Dam will go up against 'The Chosen One' Jeff Jarrett at Hostile City Showdown so Van Dam was looking to tune up for that match against Snow.  Snow took the fight to Van Dam and tried to pull off a big upset.  The ending would see Van Dam go for a roundhouse kick but Snow ducked.  Snow lifted up Van Dam for the Snow Plow but Van Dam floated over and hit a roundhouse kick to the back of Snow's head then hit a DDT!  Van Dam to the top and FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH!  It connects!  Van Dam covers for the one ... two ... THREE!  Rob Van Dam is looking razor sharp heading into Hostile City Showdown while Jarrett has to face Stone Cold Steve Austin later tonight.

WINNER: Rob Van Dam in 4:42.

Eddy Guerrero is shown arriving to the building when The Coach approached him and informed Guerrero that Taz will be challenging Scott Steiner for the World Championship at Hostile City Showdown...

GUERRERO:  "Not if I've got anything to say about it, esae."

Match #2: Psicosis v. Essa Rios.  "Loco" by Coal Chamber blared over the speakers as Psicosis headed out to the ring.  Then, "Papi Chulo" by Funkdoobiest blared over the speakers as Essa Rios made his way out to the ring.  This is a rematch from Saturday night on RAGE where Psicosis pulled off the win over Essa Rios.  An exciting contest from two great Cruiserweights who are proving that the division was good addition to New Generation Wrestling.  The ending would see Rios go for a power bomb but Psicosis dropped out and went for a front layout suplex but Rios dropped out of that with a small package for the one ... two ... THR ... NO!  Psicosis got up and caught Rios with a spinning leg lariat.  Psicosis went for a power bomb but Rios countered out with a sunset flip for the one ... two ... THR ... ["Siempre Peligroso" by Cypress Hill]

Eddy Guerrero walked out of the entrance in street clothes.  Guerrero was scheduled to take on Taz at Hostile City Showdown but now that's out the window.  Guerrero stepped into the ring and took a microphone...

GUERRERO:  "I spend a few extra minutes with the mamacitas back at the hotel, get here a little late and find out that Taz is now facing Scott Steiner for the World Championship this Sunday?  What's the deal with that, homey?  Eddy Guerrero should be winning the United States Heavyweight Championship this Sunday from Taz!  But now that's off?  Just like that?  Would somebody please get out here and explain to me, haha, WHERE THAT LEAVES EDDY GUERRERO?"

["Kong At The Gates" by The Misfits]

'The Dark Angel' Vampiro emerged from the entrance, walking under his own power.  Vampiro walked out to the ring and took a microphone...

GUERRERO:  "Listen, vato, the last time I checked you were just some freak with his face painted and you can't do anything to get me my match.  So since you can walk fine now, why don't you walk back there and get someone that can help Eddy Guerrero?"

VAMPIRO:  "All I came out here to say is ... I agree with you.  Why should Taz just get the World Championship shot?  I want a piece of Steiner!  Here's what I'm thinking ... I take Steiner and you keep your match with Taz."

GUERRERO:  "Whatever, homey, I just want a chance to put some gold around this sexy Latino Heat waist."

["Oh! Oh! Shawn!"]

The NGW Commissioner, Shawn Michaels walked out onto the ramp with a microphone...

MICHAELS:  "Cut it, cut it.  You both make some good points.  I don't know who would be a better man to go at Steiner and if it were any other champion, I'd make both of you and Taz fight it out for a shot.  But ... since Steiner's such an asshole and since he thinks he can run roughshod over me?  I'm gonna make it a Four Corners Elimination Match for the World Championship this Sunday.  Eddy, Vampiro, you're both in!"

Wow ... Scott Steiner will now have to defend his World Championship against three men in a Four Corners Elimination match this Sunday!

Match #3: Kaz Hayashi & Juventud Guerrera v. Rey Misterio Jr. & Taka Michinoku.  "I Don't Mind" by Drain STH blared over the speakers as Kaz Hayashi made his way out to the ring.  "Size 'Em Up" by Big L brought 'The Juice' Juventud Guerrera out to the ring.  Then, "Ashes To Ashes" by Madd One blared over the speakers as Rey Misterio Jr. headed out.  "A Touch Of Evil" by AC/DC brought Taka Michinoku out.  Rey Misterio Jr, the winner of Pool A, will meet Kaz Hayashi, the winner of Pool B, at Hostile City Showdown this Sunday for the vacant NGW World Cruiserweight Title.  We would see great Cruiserweight tag team action here between four of the best.  The ending would see Misterio go for a bulldog on Kaz Hayashi but Kaz countered it with a backdrop suplex for two.  Kaz headed up top for the Senton Bomb but Rey caught up to him.  Rey went up and hit a Super Hurricanrana for the one ... two ... THR ... NO! NO! Kaz got a shoulder up!  Misterio went out to the apron and waited on Kaz to get up.  Rey came in for the Springboard Hurricanrana but Kaz caught Rey in mid-air with a dropkick!  Kaz went over and made the tag to Juventud.  Rey made the tag to Taka.  Juvy and Taka traded chops then Taka went for a german suplex but Juvy landed on his feet.  Taka came at Juvy with a lariat, Juvy ducked and went for a german suplex but TAKA LANDED ON HIS FEET!  Juvy charged at Taka but Taka scooped up Juvy and spiked him with the Michinoku Driver for the one ... two ... THR ... Kaz breaks up the count!  Kaz then drilled Taka in the face with a roundhouse kick!  Rey came in after Kaz, jumped up on his shoulders, Kaz tried to fight it but Rey hit a frankensteiner sending both men over the top to the outside!  Juvy and Taka got up, Taka went for another Michinoku Driver but Juvy dropped out, kicked Taka and planted him with the Running Power Bomb for the one ... two ... THREE!  Juventud Guerrera takes the pinfall over Taka Michinoku to win this great tag team match.

WINNERS: Kaz Hayashi and Juventud Guerrera in 13:51.

The Coach got some comments from 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin regarding his match tonight with Jeff Jarrett and his big match against Chris Jericho at Hostile City Showdown...

AUSTIN:  "Tonight, Jeff Jarrett, you call yourself the Chosen One?  What the hell does that mean?  Who choose you?  What were you chosen for?  Why'd they choose you?  Why didn't they choose Al Snow?  Why didn't they choose Low Ki?  Why didn't they choose The Coach?  Why didn't they choose 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin?  And if I were The Chosen One, what would I be chosen for?  Jeff Jarrett, all I gots to say about the Chosen One is tonight you've been chosen to get your ass whipped by Stone Cold Steve Austin!  Now as far as Chris Jericho goes, I told that sumbitch last week exactly who he's messing with and this Sunday at Hostile City Showdown, I'll SHOW him exactly what happens when you mess with Stone Cold Steve Austin.  Chris Jericho will go one on one with the most hostile son of a bitch walking.  When Chris Jericho made the decision to screw over Stone Cold Steve Austin, he screwed himself over in the process.  This Sunday, Chris Jericho's big debut match, his big night will turn into a big nightmare and that's the bottom line 'cause STONE COLD SAID SO!"

Match #4: Too Cold Scorpio v. Buh Buh Ray Dudley.  "Whoomp! There It Is" by Tag Team blared over the speakers as Too Cold Scorpio headed out to the ring along with Terri.  Scorpio danced a bit with Terri then waited for his opponent.  Then, "Turn The Tables" by Saliva blasted over the speakers as one half of the World Tag Team Champions, Buh Buh Ray Dudley made his way out to the ring.  Another preview of sorts for Hostile City Showdown where The Sandman and Too Cold Scorpio attempt to recapture the World Tag Team Titles from The Dudley Boyz.  Last week, The Sandman scored a win over D-Von Dudley but tasted a Dudley Death Drop afterwards.  Sandman and D-Von were banned from ringside for this one as Scorpio and Buh Buh battled it out.  The ending would see Scorpio go for a superkick but Buh Buh ducked and hit a big flapjack.  Buh Buh headed up to the second turnbuckle and came off with a senton but Scorpio rolled out of the way.  Scorpio headed up top and came off with the Tumbleweed but Buh Buh rolled out of the way!  Scorpio clutched his spine, Buh Buh grabbed him and planted Scorpio with the Buh Buh Bomb for the one ... two ... THREE! Buh Buh Ray Dudley evens it up in singles matches but who will have the edge this Sunday?

WINNER: Buh Buh Ray Dudley in 4:38.

Rating: * 1/2

We went to a short vignette set to "Head Up" by Deftones.  We saw shots of a huge man.  A voiceover was heard ... "BROCK LESNAR ... NCAA Heavyweight Champion ... BROCK LESNAR ... 6 foot 4 ... BROCK LESNAR ... 295 Pounds ... BROCK LESNAR ... The hottest free agent in wrestling ... BROCK LESNAR ... He's Coming ... BROCK LESNAR!"

Match #5: Saturn & Sabu & Devon Storm v. Raven & Kane & Chris Kanyon.  "Beautiful People" by Marilyn Manson blared over the speakers as Saturn headed out to the ring first.  "Little Crazy" by Fight sounded over the speakers as Bill Alfonso led 'The Human Highlight Reel' Sabu out.  "Terrible Lie" by Nine Inch Nails brought out 'Dangerous' Devon Storm.  Storm found himself on an unfamiliar side of this war.  Then, "Come Out And Play" by Offspring blared over the speakers as Raven, 'The Big Red Machine' Kane and Chris Kanyon all headed out to the ring.  Raven and Kane will team up at Hostile City Showdown to take on Saturn and Sabu.  It was also announced that Devon Storm will go one-on-one with Chris Kanyon this Sunday.  The ending would see Kanyon go for the Flatliner on Devon Storm but Storm slipped out and hit the Mind Bender for the one ... two ... THR ... Raven breaks it up!  Saturn came in after Raven but Kane cleaned house on Saturn.  Sabu and Storm teamed up with a double clothesline on Kane sending him out of the ring.  Sabu jumped out onto Kane but Kane caught him so Storm hit a baseball slide dropkick!  Storm rolled back in and Raven went for an Evenflow DDT but Saturn drilled Raven with a superkick.  Kanyon then planted Saturn with the Flatliner!  That left Kanyon wide open for the Mind Bender from Storm!  Storm covered for the one ... two ... THREE!  Devon Storm picks up another pinfall over a member of The Flock!

WINNERS: Saturn, Sabu and Devon Storm in 6:45.

The Coach entered Scott Steiner's dressing room to try and get some reaction but Steiner was tossing around chairs, and tearing apart his dressing room...

STEINER:  "What the hell is this crap?  Who does Shawn Michaels think he is?  I'll kill him!  I will, I'll snap that bastard in half.  No ... No ... Here's what I'm gonna do, Shawn, you throw whatever the hell you want at Big Poppa Pump and I'll knock 'em all down.  If I gotta beat three people's asses, I'll beat three people's asses!  And after I do that, Michaels, I'm comin' for you.  And when I'm done with you, you won't be the Commissioner, you'll be my personal bitch!  Now get the hell outta my face!"

Main Event: Jeff Jarrett v. Steve Austin.  "Cowboy" by Kid Rock blared over the speakers as 'The Chosen One' Jeff Jarrett made his way out to the ring.  Then, "Glass Shatters" by Disturbed blared over the speakers as 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin headed out to the ring.  Jeff Jarrett will go one-on-one with 'The Whole F'n Show' Rob Van Dam this Sunday at Hostile City Showdown while 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin will release his fury on Chris Jericho.  Austin didn't seem to be looking past Jarrett tonight because that would've been a mistake.  Jarrett tried to brawl it out with Austin early but that was a mistake so he did his best to take Austin to the mat and out wrestle him.  Austin showed some great mat wrestling skills which is a very underrated part of his repitore. The closing moments of the match would see Jarrett climb up and hammer on Austin in the corner then gloat.  Austin dropped Jarrett out with a hot shot then kicked Jarrett, went for the Stunner but Jarrett shoved Austin off and sent him into the ropes.  Austin came off with a Thesz Press and hammered away on Jarrett!  Austin went up to the second turnbuckle and came off with an elbow but Jarrett rolled out of the way!  Jarrett headed up to and came off with a missile dropkick but Austin dodged it and Jarrett nailed the referee.  Austin went for a Stunner but Jarrett drilled Stone Cold low.  Jarrett grabbed his guitar and lined up Austin but VAN DAM slid into the ring out of nowhere and grabbed the guitar from Jarrett.  Van Dam tossed the guitar out of the ring ... Jarrett runs around and STUNNER!  Austin caught Jarrett with it but the referee is still out.  CHRIS JERICHO comes from the crowd.  Jericho's in the ring and bulldog on Austin!  LIONSAULT!  Jericho pulls Jarrett on top and bolts out through the crowd.  Van Dam was halfway up the entrance and saw this.  Van Dam comes back ... Van Dam to the top and FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH onto Jarrett!  Now Van Dam leaves.  Both Austin and Jarrett are down ... They struggle to their feet.  Austin beats Jarrett, kicks him and STUNNER!  Austin covers Jarrett this time for the one ... two ... THREE!  'Stone Cold' Steve Austin gets a little assist from Rob Van Dam to equalize the interference of Chris Jericho and takes the win!

WINNER: Steve Austin in 11:20.

Rating: ** 1/2

Afterwards, Stone Cold got a few beers and celebrated but Chris Jericho came back over the guardrail.  Jericho slides into the ring to sneak attack Austin but Austin turns aroudn and sees Jericho, stopping Jericho dead in his tracks.  The show came to a close with Stone Cold and Chris Jericho staring each other down.  These two will have it out this Sunday at HOSTILE CITY SHOWDOWN!
