NGW Ring Wars - June 3 / 2002

-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-

"Praise" by Sevendust played in the background of the NGW Ring Wars opening sequence which featured a montage of various New Generation Wrestling superstars such as; Saturn, Too Cold Scorpio, The Sandman, Chris Kanyon, The Dudley Boyz, Taz, The Acolytes, William Regal, Sabu, Eddy Guerrero, Vampiro, Raven, Jeff Jarrett, Rob Van Dam, 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and more.  This is New Generation Wrestling and this is RING WARS...

We entered the arena with Joey Styles and Paul Heyman welcomed everyone to the show. Tonight; JEFF JARRETT has exercised his right to a rematch against TAZ for the NGw United States Heavyweight Title.  RAVEN will go one-on-one with SABU.  'Stone Cold' Steve Austin is in the house ... Chris Jericho is in the house ... and so much more, here tonight on Ring Wars!

["I Need A Freak" by Too $hort]

The NGW World Champion, 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner walked out of the entrance along with his favorite freak, Midajah.  Steiner left early in last week's show, claiming there was no longer any competition for him.  Steiner jawed with some fans, posed in the ring and took the microphone...

STEINER:  "There was some primadonna, overpaid, overrated, untalented (censored) that said something like 'Who's Next?'  Well I stand here tonight and I ask WHO'S LEFT?  Everybody that's been forced into the ring with me, and I say forced because no one in their right mind would want any of this, they've all found thereselves in the same position as all of my freaks ... flat on their back with the Big Baddy Booty Daddy on top.  Whether I've ripped their heads off with the Steiner Recliner or knocked their lights out with the largest arms in the world, I've beaten them all.  What I wanna know is, who back there thinks they can take the NGW World Championship from?  I'll put this World Championship on the line against anyone that wants to have their career shortened by the greatest athlete in the world."

["Kong At The Gates" by The Misfits]

The lights went out as 'The Dark Angel' Vampiro walked out of the entrance.  Vampiro stood at the entrance as the lights came up...

VAMPIRO:  "If you're looking for someone that you can push around ... keep looking.  You don't scare me and you won't intimidate me.  I want that shot, Steiner, and I want that World Championship!"

STEINER:  "You're no World Champion, look at you and look at me.  This is what a World Champion looks like.  Look at you, you're a mess but I'm a man of my word so I'll give you a title shot tonight!  But you'll be even more messed up when Big Poppa Pump gets through with you tonight!"

Scott Steiner defends the World Championship against Vampiro ... TONIGHT!  What a huge Main Event!

Opening Match: Rey Misterio Jr. v. Essa Rios - Cruiserweight Cup (Pool A).  "Ashes To Ashes" by Madd One blared over the speakers as Rey Misterio Jr. headed out to the ring.  Then, "Papi Chulo" by Funkdoobiest blared over the speakers as Essa Rios made his way out to the ring.  Misterio and Essa Rios are both deadlocked at 2-1 heading into this match.  The winner can finish second at the worst and potentially tied for first depending on the outcome of Juventud Guerrera-Chris Candido this weekend on RAGE.  The ending would see Rios send Misterio into the ropes but Misterio came off and caught Rios with a bulldog.  Misterio went out to the apron and came in with a springboard legdrop but Rios rolled out of the way.  Rios planted Misterio with a power bomb then headed to the top.  Rios came off with the Moonsault but Misterio rolled out of the way!  Misterio rolled out to the apron and came in with a Springboard Hurricanrana for the one ... two ... THREE!  Rey Misterio Jr pulls it out and finishes at 3-1 while Essa Rios drops to 2-2 to end the Cruiserweight Cup.

WINNER: Rey Misterio Jr. in 8:06.

The Coach got some comments from the NGW World Tag Team Champions, The Dudley Boyz about who they'd rather face, Evolution or The Sandman & Too Cold Scorpio...

BUH BUH:  "On one hand, Evolution are really quick and innovative while on the other hand, The Sandman and Too Cold Scorpio can fight with the best of them.  So the question is, do we want to wrestle or do we want to fight?"

D-VON:  "It don't matter which team gets the shot, The Dudley Boyz are the best tag team in the world today and nobody can knock us off our game."

BUH BUH:  "Wrestle or fight?  WRESTLE ... or ... FIGHT?  Regardless of who we face and what type of match it is, at the end of the night, somebody is goin' through a table!"

D-VON:  "Testify, my brother, TESTIFY!"

Match #2: Evolution v. The Sandman & Too Cold Scorpio - NGW World Tag Team Titles Shot @ Hostile City Showdown.  "Intergalactic" by Beastie Boys blared over the speakers as Evolution of Jason Jett and Nova headed out to the ring.  Then, "Enter Sandman" by Metallica sounded over the speakers as 'The Extreme Icon' The Sandman and Too Cold Scorpio made their way out to the ring.  Evolution has been on a roll with a few big wins over The Acolytes while Sandman & Scorpio were World Tag Team Champions before Sandman got side tracked with Goldust.  The winners go to Hostile City Showdown to meet The Dudley Boyz for the straps.  The ending would see Scorpio hit a Lyger Bomb on Jett but didn't hold on for the cover.  Scorpio got up and went for a standing moonsault but Jett rolled out of the way and hit a standing moonsault of his own.  Jett went out to the apron and came in with an Afterburner but Scorpio caught him in mid move with a spinning heel kick.  Scorpio made the tag to Sandman and Jett tagged in Nova.  Sandman got the better of a slugfest with Nova and caught him with a DDT.  Sandman headed up top for the Jagermeister Jam but Jett crotched him.  Scorpio came over and took Jett to the outside.  Nova went to the top for a superplex but Sandman shoved him off and came off with the Jagermeister Jam for the one ... two ...   The Coach got some comments from 'The Chosen One' Jeff Jarrett...

JARRETT:  "Tonight the Chosen One is going to take back the United States Heavyweight Title.  I've got a right to a rematch and I'm gonna take that rematch tonight.  Taz, enjoy the belt, because in a few minutes The Chosen One will be a two-time US Heavyweight Champion, now choke on that ... SLAPNUTS!"

COACH:  "One more question, why'd you nail Rob Van Dam over the head with a guitar last week?"

JARRETT:  "That was just justice, plain and simple, Chosen One style.  Eddy Guerrero has the better Frog Splash and last week, the better man won in Eddy Guerrero."

We went to a short vignette set to "Head Up" by Deftones.  We saw shots of a huge man.  A voiceover was heard ... "BROCK LESNAR ... NCAA Heavyweight Champion ... BROCK LESNAR ... 6 foot 4 ... BROCK LESNAR ... 295 Pounds ... BROCK LESNAR ... The hottest free agent in wrestling ... BROCK LESNAR ... He's Coming ... BROCK LESNAR!"

Match #3: Jeff Jarrett v. Taz (c) - NGW United States Heavyweight Title.  "Cowboy" by Kid Rock blared over the speakers as 'The Chosen One' Jeff Jarrett headed out to the ring.  Jarrett was in a unique position here challenging for the U.S. Heavyweight Title for the first time.  Jarrett was the first US Champion and held the title for four months until Taz ended his reign at Animosity.  Then, "War Machine" blared over the speakers as the NGW United States Heavyweight Champion, 'The Human Suplex Machine' Taz walked out to the ring.  Taz has just been destroying people left and right in NGW and now has the US Heavyweight Title to show for it.  The ending of this one would see Taz plant Jarrett with a Concrete Crack for two.  Taz sent Jarrett into the corner and pounded on him.  Jarrett went to the eyes and turned Taz around and hit some chops.  Taz drilled Jarrett with a right hand then came out with a clothesline but Jarrett ducked and Taz hit the referee.  Jarrett drilled Taz low and hit a DDT.  Jarrett went to the outside and grabbed his guitar.  Jarrett came back in but ... Rob Van Dam bolted out and slid into the ring.  Jarrett lined up Taz but Van Dam grabbed the guitar from Jarrett!  Taz hooked up Jarrett and dumped him with a Hardway Tazplex!  Taz covers ... the ref crawls over and counts the one ... two ... THREE! 'The Human Suplex Machine' Taz retains the NGW United States Heavyweight Title while RVD gets some retribution on The Chosen One.

WINNER: Taz in 6:21.

Rating: ***

(Taz retained the NGW United States Heavyweight Title.)

["Break Down The Walls" by Sevendust]

Chris Jericho emerged from the entrance with a bent up steel chair in his hand. Jericho walked down to the ring and took a microphone...

JERICHO:  "Another town ... another arena ... another group of jackasses that don't show Chris Jericho the respect that he deserves.  See this chair?  This is the same chair from last week and I cracked over Stone Cold Steve Austin's back.  Now I'd come out there and hit every last one of you with a chair but then I might break a sweat and we wouldn't want that, now would we?  Chris Jericho has come to New Generation Wrestling because NGW is in desperate need of a living legend.  I mean, who's here?  Shawn Michaels?  Who the hell is Shawn Michaels?  Wasn't he a Rocker or something?  Or what about Stone Cold Steve Austin?  A living legend?  Yeah right, Steve Austin isn't even in Chris Jericho's league.  Steve Austin isn't even fit to tie Chris Jericho's boots.  Steve Austin is a nobody while Chris Jericho is a larger then life superstar.  Now you might be asking yourselves, why did I bring this chair out here tonight?  Well, jackasses, Chris Jericho is a little dissapointed in himself.  Sure I had Steve Austin crying like a little baby in the Walls Of Jericho last week. Sure I hit him in the back with this chair but I'm disspointed because I didn't make Austin bleed.  I didn't bust open Stone Cold's head like I did at Animosity.  But at Hostile City Showdown, I will finish what I started at Animosity.  Stone Cold Steve Austin, at Hostile City Showdown, you step into the ring with the biggest superstar in wrestling ... You step into the ring with Chris Jericho and I know you're going to have butterflys but.."

["Glass Shatters" by Disturbed]

Chris Jericho was cut off in mid-sentence as 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin bolted out of the entrance.  Austin slid into the ring.  Jericho tried to nail Austin as he came in but, Austin ducked under Jericho, bounced off the far side ropes and took down Jericho with a Thesz Press!  Austin hammered away on Jericho with fists then got up.  Austin went to drive an elbow down into Jericho but Jericho moved.  Jericho grabbed the chair and lined up Austin but Austin kicks Jericho and STUNNER!  NO!  Jericho shoves Austin off and *CRACK* drills him with a chairshot between the eyes busting Austin wide open!  Jericho looks up and smiles as he sees Austin down in a bloody mess.  Chris Jericho wasn't done, he rolled out of the ring and went to the time keeper's table.  From underneath he pulled out a cooler of Austin's beer.  Jericho returned to the ring, Austin was trying hard to get up but Jericho kicked him in the face.  Jericho grabbed two beers out of the cooler, cracked them open, smashed them together then poured them over the bloody 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin!  Jericho threw down the beer cans and left the ring leaving Austin in a pool of his own blood and beer...

Match #4: Psicosis v. Taka Michinoku - Cruiserweight Cup (Pool B).  "Loco" by Coal Chamber blasted over the speakers as Psicosis made his way out to the ring first.  Then, "Touch Of Evil" by AC/DC blared over the speakers as Taka Michinoku headed out to the ring.  Psicosis and Taka Michinoku head into their final Cruiserweight Cup match in a three way tie with Kaz Hayashi for first place in Pool B.  All three men are 2-1 going into their final matches so this was a huge match to win.  A win here for Psicosis or Taka would gurantee them atleast a tie for first place depending on whether Kaz Hayashi wins his match against Low Ki' on RAGE.  The ending would see Taka and Psicosis trading hard chops and slaps.  Psicosis went for a suplex but Taka dropped out on the apron, smacked Psicosis and came in with a springboard dropkick for the one ... two ... THR ... NO!  Taka went for the Michinoku Driver but Psicosis floated over and hit a reverse DDT.  Psicosis went to the top and came off with the Guillotine Legdrop but Taka rolled out of the way.  Taka dropkicked Psicosis in the back of the head and covered for the one! two! THRE! NO! NO!  Taka took Psicosis to the corner for a swinging DDT but Psicosis threw him off.  Psicosis caught Taka with a spinning leg lariat.  Psicosis picked up Taka for a front layout suplex but Taka landed on his feet, scooped up Psicosis and hit the Michinoku Driver for the one ... two ... THREE!  Taka Michinoku wins a hard fought match to finish at 3-1 while Psicosis drops to 2-2.

WINNER: Taka Michinoku in 10:24.

Rating: *** 3/4

We cut to a dark spot in the bowels of the building where Raven was slouched down in a corner, surrounded by The Flock...

RAVEN:  "So it begins ... The systematic destruction of all those who have ever wronged me ... all those who have ever made fun of me ... mocked me ... or shunned me.  Sabu, you turned Devon Storm against me.  You made him stray from The Flock and thus you are responsible for the fact that Devon Storm isn't here tonight.  Devon Storm is at home nursing his wounds that he suffered at the hands of Kane.  Kane ... You're a monster, unbeatable, a master of pain and punishment but tonight ... Tonight, I wanna take care of Sabu on my own.  Quote the Raven, NEVERMORE!"

Match #5: Raven v. Sabu.  "Come Out And Play" by Offspring blared over the speakers as the enigmatic leader of The Flock, Raven headed out to the ring.  Then, "Little Crazy" by Fight blared over the speakers as Bill Alfonso led out 'The Human Highlight Reel' Sabu to the ring.  We heard Raven state moments ago that he wanted to take on Sabu on his own and for Kane not to get involved in the match.  Sabu beat Devon Storm in a Respect Match at Animosity, Storm shook Sabu's hand then last week Storm was taken apart by Kane at the request of Raven.  The ending of this brawl would see Sabu go for a back suplex but Raven countered it with a bulldog.  Raven went up to the second turnbuckle and came off with an elbow but Sabu got his foot up.  Sabu slammed down Raven and hit a moonsault for the one ... two ... THR ... NO!  Raven kicked out!  Sabu sent Raven into the corner and came in with a leg lariat but Raven moved out of the way.  Raven hooked up Sabu for the Evenflow DDT but Sabu held onto the ropes to block it!  Sabu hit a DDT of his own on Raven.  Fonzie passed Sabu a chair for the Triple Jump Moonsault but the lights went out and "Slow Chemical" by Finger Eleven blasted over the speakers.  Kane walked out to the ring and stepped over the top rope.  Sabu came at Kane with a leg lariat but Kane barely budged.  Sabu came at Kane again but Kane grabbed him by the throat and planted him with a Choke Slam for the DQ.

WINNER: Sabu via DQ in 6:09.

Rating: **

Afterwards, Raven instructed Kane to Tombstone Sabu.  Saturn rushed in and took Raven out of the ring.  Kane spiked Sabu with the Tombstone.  Saturn picked up the chair and drilled Kane in the back!  Kane stumbled a bit then turned around.  Saturn went to hit him again but Kane grabbed Saturn by the throat and laid him out with a Choke Slam!  Raven held his arms out in a crucifix as Kane brought his arms down and fire exploded from the corners...

We then headed to a video promo set to "Toxicity" by System Of A Down for NGW's next Pay-Per-View offering ... NGW HOSTILE CITY SHOWDOWN ... The event comes to you on June 23rd, live from the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, MI on Pay-Per-View.  The self-proclaimed 'Living Legend' and 'Larger Than Life Superstar' CHRIS JERICHO competes in a NGW ring for the first time against the man he screwed out of the NGW World Championship ...   After the match, Steiner wasn't done.  Steiner got his lead pipe from Midajah and drilled Vampiro in the ankle!  Steiner twisted the ankle with the pipe and then snapped it, trying to break Vampiro's ankle!  Steiner continued to assault Vampiro until numerous NGW officials bolted into the ring!  Steiner started laying out referee's!  Shawn Michaels came in with some more referees but Steiner turned around and drilled Michaels with a Steinerline!  That's the Commissioner he just hit!  Steiner looked down at Michaels as Michaels held his neck to end the show.  Big Poppa Pump just attacked the Commissioner ... what will be the reprecussions?
