-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==- NGW Ring Wars - May 27 / 2002 -==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==- We opened with a
video package highlighting the major events of NGW ANIMOSITY set to "Ride
Of Your Life" by Nuerotica. Last
night was a night where we saw respect (Devon Storm giving his respect to
Sabu), emotional climax (The Sandman beating Goldust and reuniting with his
son, Taz finally taking the US Heavyweight Title from Jeff Jarrett), incredible
intensity (Vampiro busting out a Super Vampiro Spike to beat Chris Kanyon, The
Dudley Boyz narrowly retaining the World Tag Team Titles over Simon Diamond
& Swinger then putting Simon through a table, Rob Van Dam overcoming Eddy
Guerrero in an epic war), and DEVASTATION (Kane made his debut when it looked
Saturn had Raven defeated and helping Raven win, Chris Jericho made a huge
impact when he screwed Steve Austin out of the NGW World Championship). It was NGW Animosity, what a wild ride it
was...
"Praise" by Sevendust played in the background of the NGW Ring
Wars opening sequence which featured a montage of various New Generation
Wrestling superstars such as; Saturn, Too Cold Scorpio, The Sandman, Chris
Kanyon, The Dudley Boyz, Taz, The Acolytes, William Regal, Sabu, Eddy Guerrero,
Vampiro, Raven, Jeff Jarrett, Rob Van Dam, 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner,
'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and more. This
is New Generation Wrestling and this is RING WARS... We entered the
arena with Joey Styles and Paul Heyman welcoming us to the show and announcing
our *HUGE* Main Event for here tonight ... A rematch from last night ... 'THE
WHOLE F'N SHOW' ROB VAN DAM goes one-on-one with EDDY GUERRERO! Styles and Heyman were interrupted before
they could go any further... ["Come Out And Play" by Offspring] The battered and
bruised Raven walked out of the entrance flanked by Chris Kanyon, 'Dangerous'
Devon Storm, and 'Sick' Scott Vick walked out to the ring. Raven slouched in the corner with a
microphone... RAVEN: "Last
night was another victory for Raven.
Saturn, where you walk, you walk alone.
Where you stand, you stand alone.
A generation ago that would have been admirable but today, its just
foolish. Everyone is after me, everyone
despises me because of my superior intellectual prowess and vast knowledge of
the human mind. That is why I have the
Flock. I heard Joey Styles once refer to
them as goons. These men aren't goons,
these are people that were in pain. They
were in pain until I brought them together.
You see, I feel their pain, we feel each other's pain. We have to stick together because if society
had their way they'd toss us aside.
They'd let us rot in the back alleys, or trap us in their so called
mental facilities. Just because we
refuse to follow the path that you all believe is right, doesn't make us weird
or different, it makes us who we are. We
will not be shunned from society, we refuse to let that happen. That is why I have found a man who has gone
through more pain then even me. A man
who has dealt with being a social misfit and an outcast his entire life. Why?
Because he was burned in a fire.
It wasn't his fault, yet he was subjected to years of taunts that forced
him to don a mask. I feel his pain, and
he understands that he doesn't need all of you.
All he needs is me and The Flock.
He doesn't need the mask but he'll keep wearing it as a symbol of your
cruelty. He is one of the baddest men on
this planet ... The Big Red Machine ... KANE!" ["Slow Chemical" by Finger Eleven] The arena turned
red and pyro exploded from the entrance as 'The Big Red Machine' Kane walked
out to the ring.... RAVEN: "HE
COMES FROM HATE ... HE COMES FROM PAIN ... And you will all feel his pain ...
You will all be destroyed at his hands.
He is Kane, and he is your worst nightmare." RAVEN: "Now
before I return to the Bowery, there is one more piece of Flock business to
take care off. There is a cancer in the
Flock and it needs to be cut out before it spreads. It's time to remove that tumor and time to
heal that wound. You betrayed us ... You
let us down ... We had great hope for you but last night, not only did you lose
but you consorted with the enemy. You
are not to be trusted and you are no longer worthy of being in The Flock. So it was written, so it shall come to pass
... DEVON STORM! Quote the Raven, NEVERMORE!" Kane grabbed
Storm by the throat and planted him with a big Choke Slam! Kanyon and Vick just shook their heads at
Storm as Raven and The Flock left the ring... Opening Match: Jamie Knoble v. Psicosis - Cruiserweight
Cup (Pool B). "You Know Its
Hard" by Crystal Method sounded over the speakers as Jamie Knoble headed
out to the ring for Cruiserweight Cup action.
Then, "Loco" by Coal Chamber blared over the speakers as
Psicosis made his way out to the ring.
Jamie Knoble is down 0-3 heading into his final match, he's out of
contention but was looking to atleast get a win. Psicosis is 2-0 and looking to keep his
undefeated streak alive. The ending
would see Knoble hit a missile dropkick on Psicosis then go for a springboard
twisting moonsault but Psicosis rolled out of the way. Psicosis planted Knoble with a front suplex
then headed up top. Psicosis came off
with the Guillotine Legdrop but Knoble rolled out of the way. Knoble slammed down Psicosis, went up and hit
a Guillotine Legdrop of his own for the one ... two ... THR ... NO! Psicosis kicked out! Knoble tried to send Psicosis into the ropes
but Psicosis reversed it and went for a tilt-a-whirl slam but Knoble spun out,
picked up Psicosis and planted him with the Tombstone Piledriver for the one
... two ... THREE! Jamie Knoble breaks
his losing streak with a big win over Psicosis.
Knoble finishes the Cruiserweight Cup at 1-3 while Psicosis drops to 2-1
with one match remaining. WINNER: Jamie Knoble in 7:40. Rating: *** 1/4 [backstage] The Coach was
shown standing in the parking lot waiting on the arrivals of Steve Austin and
Chris Jericho when Scott Steiner walked out with Midajah... COACH: "Big
Poppa Pump! Where are you going?" STEINER: "I'm
goin' out on the town, hit this mother up, you know celebrate. Well you probably don't know cause like
everybody else you don't know what its like to be the World Champion, to be a
genetic freak, to be the big bad booty daddy and to be Big Poppa Pump. There's nobody left for me here, I've beaten
them all. There's nothing to do know but
bask in my greatness with all the freaks." Steiner and
Midajah got into a limo and left... Match #2: Simon Diamond & Swinger v. The Sandman
& Too Cold Scorpio. "Simon
Says" by Drain STH blared over the speakers as Dawn Marie led Simon
Diamond & Swinger out to the ring.
Then, "Enter Sandman" by Metallica blared over the speakers as
'The Extreme Icon' The Sandman and Too Cold Scorpio made their way out to the
ring. Simon & Swinger came up short
in their attempt to take the World Tag Team Titles from The Dudley Boyz and
Simon Diamond must still be sore from going through that table. The Sandman pulled the Final Curtain on
Goldust last night and re-united with his son.
With that out of the picture, Sandman and Scorpio were back teaming up
here tonight. The ending would see
Swinger go for a back suplex on Scorpio but Scorpio flipped out and drilled
Swinger with a spinning heel kick.
Scorpio went up top and came off with a moonsault legdrop for the one
... two ... THR ... NO! Simon broke up
the count! Scorpio set up Swinger for a
power bomb but Swinger countered it with a backdrop then made the tag to
Simon. Simon rushed in but Scorpio got
the tag to Sandman. Sandman cleaned
house on Simon and Swinger then caught Simon with a DDT. Dawn Marie got up on the apron but Terri came
over and pulled Dawn off the apron and CATFIGHT! Sandman got distracted and Simon came from
behind and went for a german suplex but Sandman elbowed off and hit a White
Russian Legsweep! Sandman to the top and
JAGERMEISTER JAM! Sandman covers ...
Swinger comes in but Scorpio drills him with a superkick ... one ... two ...
THREE! The Sandman and Too Cold Scorpio
get a big tag team win over Simon Diamond & Swinger! WINNERS: The Sandman and Too Cold Scorpio in 4:56. Rating: * 1/2 [backstage] The Coach was
with 'Dangerous' Devon Storm, who was holding his lower back after that Choke
Slam from Kane earlier... STORM: "Raven,
you wanna fire me from The Flock? Go
ahead because Sabu showed me last night that I don't need you and I sure as
hell don't respect you. You did nothing
for me but use me, like you're using Kane.
Speaking of Kane ... Big Red Machine, why don't you try and do that to
me in a match, TONIGHT?! That's right
Kane, you wanna Choke Slam me? Well I'm
callin' your ass out. I may not be able
to beat you but I'll be damned if I don't a piece of you. Then Raven, I'm gettin' in that LONG line of
men wanting a piece of you!" Match #3: Chris Kanyon v. Taz (c) - NGW United States
Heavyweight Title. "Immune" by
Godsmack blared over the speakers as The Flock's Chris Kanyon headed out to the
ring. Then, "War Machine"
blasted over the speakers as the new NGW United States Heavyweight Champion,
'The Human Suplex Machine' Taz walked out to the ring. Taz made Jeff Jarrett submit last night in
the Submission Match to become the 2nd US Heavyweight Champion. Chris Kanyon lost a tough match to Vampiro
but had a chance to make it up by cutting Taz's reign very short. The ending would see Kanyon go for the
Flatliner but Taz picked him up and dumped him with a T-Bone Tazplex! Taz went for the Tazmission but Kanyon
elbowed him off and hit a swinging fisherman suplex for the one ... two ... THR
... NO! Taz got a shoulder up! Kanyon headed up top but Taz caught up to
him. Taz went up and dumped Kanyon with
a Super Head & Arm Tazplex! Taz
locked in the Tazmission, which was academic, for the win! Taz retains the NGW United States Heavyweight
Title over Kanyon! WINNER: Taz in 6:02. Rating: *** (Taz retained the NGW United States Heavyweight Title.) [backstage] 'Stone Cold'
Steve Austin is shown entering the building with a bandage on his
forehead. Austin grabs Coach by the
shirt... AUSTIN: "Show
me where the hell Chris Jericho is..." COACH: "He's
... he's not here yet." AUSTIN: "If I
were that sumbitch, I'd run as fast as I could, as far as I could and hide my
ass because he doesn't know who he's messin' with." Match #4: Rey Misterio Jr. v. Juventud Guerrera -
Cruiserweight Cup (Pool A). "Ashes
To Ashes" by Madd One blared over the speakers as Rey Misterio Jr. headed
out to the ring. Then, "Size 'Em
Up" by Big L blared over the speakers as 'The Juice' Juventud Guerrera
made his way out to the ring. Misterio
and Guerrera are tied for top spot in Pool A as both men are 2-0. One of them will move into sole position on
top of Pool A. These two have had
classic battles throughout their careers and with all that was riding on this
one, this would be no different. The
ending would see Rey go for a german suplex but Juvy flipped out. Juvy charged at Rey but Rey armdragged him
then drove Juvy's face down into the mat for two. Rey tried to send Juvy into the ropes but
Juvy reversed it, went for a spinning backbreaker but Rey countered out with an
armdrag sending Juvy to the floor. Rey
hit a baseball slide headscissors on Juvy then rolled him back into the ring. Rey came in with a Springboard Hurricanrana
but Juvy caught him, held Rey and planted him with the Running Juvy Bomb for
the one ... two ... THR ... NO! Rey got
a shoulder up! Juvy was stunned! Juvy headed up top but Rey crotched him. Rey went up for a Super Hurricanrana but Juvy
countered that in mid-air with a super bomb!
Juvy covered Rey for the one ... two ... THREE! Juventud Guerrera takes the win over Rey
Misterio Jr. to move to 3-0 while Rey Rey drops to 2-1. WINNER: Juventud Guerrera in 11:24. Rating: *** 3/4 [backstage] A long black
limousine is shown pulling up to the arena.
It stops and out steps CHRIS JERICHO.
Jericho soaks in his new surroundings then starts to head into the arena
when The Coach approaches him... JERICHO: "The
bags are in the trunk, Junior." Jericho pats
Coach on the shoulder and continues to walk in... COACH:
"Chris! Chris!" JERICHO:
"What'd you want a tip or something? Do I look I have any spare change? Just get the bags..." Chris Jericho
continues into the arena, what arrogance... Match #5: Kane v. Devon Storm. "Slow Chemical" by Finger Eleven
blared over the speakers as 'The Big Red Machine' Kane headed out to the
ring. Then, "Terrible Lie
(Live)" by Nine Inch Nails blasted over the speakers as 'Dangerous' Devon
Storm made his way out to the ring.
Storm was ousted from The Flock at the top of the program after he shook
Sabu's hand last night after the Respect Match.
Storm did his damndest against Kane but the big man was just too
powerful and dominating. The ending
would see Kane take down Storm with a sidewalk slam. Kane headed to the top and came off with a
flying clothesline but Storm ducked out of the way. Storm hit a dropkick on Kane, sending him to
the outside. Storm came out with a
plancha but Kane caught Storm and ran his back into the ringpost. Kane rolled Storm back into the ring. Kane stepped over the top rope but Storm dove
at his knee to chopblock him. Storm sent
Kane into the ropes but Kane reversed it and caught Storm with a big boot! Kane went for the Choke Slam but Storm kicked
low! Storm went for the Mind Bender but
Kane just powered him up onto his shoulder then spiked Storm with the Tombstone
for the one ... two ... THREE! Devon
Storm gave it his all but Kane is an absolute monster. WINNER: Kane in 4:35. Rating: * 1/4 We went to a
short vignette set to "Head Up" by Deftones. We saw shots of a huge man. A voiceover was heard ... "BROCK LESNAR
... NCAA Heavyweight Champion ... BROCK LESNAR ... 6 foot 4 ... BROCK LESNAR
... 295 Pounds ... BROCK LESNAR ... The hottest free agent in wrestling ...
BROCK LESNAR ... He's Coming ... BROCK LESNAR!" [backstage] A dishevelled
Shawn Michaels is shown exiting his office.
The Commissioner appears to be headed to the ring... Main Event: Eddy Guerrero v. Rob Van Dam. "Siempre Peligroso" by Cypress Hill
blared over the speakers as Eddy Guerrero headed out to the ring for a big
rematch from last night. Then,
"Walk" by Pantera blared over the speakers as 'The Whole F'n Show'
Rob Van Dam made his way out to the ring.
Guerrero and Van Dam ripped it up last night in an incredible match that
went over twenty minutes. Van Dam
squeezed out a win over Guerrero with the Five Star Frog Splash. The match was so close and great that NGW
officials just had to issue a rematch here tonight. Guerrero and Van Dam didn't dissapoint as
they gave it there all once again. Both
men seemed fatigued after last night which made for a little shorter
match. Unlike last night when Guerrero
was able to slow down the match and work on Van Dam on the mat, RVD had that
gameplan scouted now and was able to counter it better. The closing moments of the match would see
Guerrero go for a brain buster but Van Dam ducked and hit a fisherman
buster! Van Dam went to the top but
Guerrero shoved the referee into the ropes.
Guerrero went up and hit a super brain buster! Guerrero covered Van Dam for the one ... two
... THR ... NO! Guerrero was livid! He went to the outside and brought a chair
in. The referee struggled with Eddy to
take the chair from him. Van Dam popped

referee with a spin kick! Guerrero swung
at Van Dam but Van Dam ducked and hit a Van Daminator! RVD went over to check the referee ... Jeff
Jarrett is in the ring ... Van Dam turns around and Jarrett breaks a guitar
over RVD's head! Guerrero struggles to
the top and FROG SPLASH! The referee
crawls over and counts the one ... two ... THREE! Eddy Guerrero has defeated Rob Van Dam thanks
to Jeff Jarrett! WINNER: Eddy Guerrero in 13:19. Rating: *** 1/2 We returned from
our final break... ['Oh! Oh! Shawn!'] The NGW
Commissioner, 'The Heartbreak Kid' Shawn Michaels walked out of the entrance
and out to the ring. Michaels did not
look to be in a good mood at all as he took the microphone... MICHAELS: "I
said I was going to bring a great World Heavyweight Champion to New Generation
Wrestling and I didn't lie. The world
saw that man make his arrival last night ... he is Chris Jericho." ["Break Down The Walls" by Sevendust] Chris Jericho
emerged from the entrance and made his way down to the ring to a ton of boos
from the crowd. A surreal moment, Chris
Jericho standing in an NGW ring. Jericho
took a microphone of his own... JERICHO:
"From the looks of you, it seems like you got a little more then
you bargained for last night. When you
signed Chris Jericho to a big fat contract, when you brought Chris Jericho to
NGW, you didn't just get a wrestler. You
got a LARGER THEN LIFE SUPERSTAR ... You got a LIVING LEGEND! You got the biggest star this sport will ever
see. You got Chris Jericho, and now
you've gotta live with it. What I did
last night was show you and all these people what Chris Jericho is all about. I am more then just a Main Event player ... A
World Champion ... I transcend this company ... I transcend this industry and
that is why Chris Jericho is larger than life.
Now you might be asking yourself why would I come to NGW? Where I was, I had done it all, I was a World
Champion, I beat all the top men, hell I was even the reason that there World
Heavyweight Champion is still the champ.
It's simple ... Without Chris Jericho, they're nothing. With Chris Jericho, NGW is something. This industry revolves around me and this
company will revolve around me. That is
why last night, I showed 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin who's boss." ["Glass Shatters" by Disturbed] 'Stone Cold'
Steve Austin had obviously had enough of this ego trip as he headed out to the
ring. Michaels got in between Austin and
Jericho. Austin took a microphone... AUSTIN:
"Chris Jericho, I would've been out here sooner but I was in the
back throwing up because you make me sick!
I can't stand you, you're pathetic, you're worthless, you're nothing,
you're ass belongs to Stone Cold Steve Austin.
But I got plenty of time to whip your ass, what I came out here for was
you [Shawn Michaels]. If it wasn't for
you, that sumbitch wouldn't have even been there last night and Stone Cold
Steve Austin would be standing here the World Champion! Now tell me why I shouldn't just whip your
ass?" MICHAELS:
"First and foremost because I wasn't finished ... Chris Jericho, I
signed you to be a part of this company and that's what you are. You can talk all you want but when you messed
with the Main Event last night, that wasn't part of the deal. You screwed with my show, you screwed with me
and now you need to understand that you work for me. That means at Hostile City Showdown, I've signed
a match ... Chris Jericho, you're gonna go one-on-one with ... 'STONE COLD' STEVE AUSTIN!" Chris Jericho
complained. Austin turned his back for a
moment and Jericho blindsided him.
Jericho knocked down Austin then turned around ... SUPERKICK FROM
MICHAELS! Austin's up and STUNNER ON
JERICHO! Shawn Michaels threw some
insults to Jericho then left the ring and headed to the back. Austin called for some beer and got it. Austin took to one corner and drank a few
then went to another. Chris Jericho
rolled out of the ring and grabbed a steel chair. Jericho came back and CRACKED Austin in the
back with it! Jericho locks Austin in
the Walls Of Jericho! Jericho's
wrenching back! NGW officials ran out
but Jericho refused to let Austin out of the Walls Of Jericho as the show
ended. Chris Jericho has arrived and
like it or not, he has changed NGW... ==-==-==-==-==-==-== NGW News & Notes-: ==-==-==-==-==-==-== -NGW RAGE taping results for Saturday, June 1st, 2002: [Cruiserweight Cup - Pool A]: Essa Rios pinned Michael Modest with the 450 Splash in
