-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==- NGW Ring Wars - April 22 / 2002 -==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==- We opened up with
still footage recapping the major events of NGW Lord Of The Ring last night ...
The Dudley Boyz overcame The Acolytes in a Double Tables match to become the
new NGW World Tag Team Champions ... 'The Human Suplex Machine' Taz stood
victorious as the Lord Of The Ring ... 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin's knee gave
out and referee's refused to let him continue, Austin attacked the referee's which
got himself DQ'ed and eliminated. Stone
Cold returned and knocked out Steiner with a chairshot. Rob Van Dam seemed to have the World
Championship won but Austin came back in the ring, gave RVD a Stunner and put
Steiner on top for the win. Why did Stone
Cold end up helping Big Poppa Pump retain the World Championship? We'll find out tonight...
"Praise" by Sevendust played in the background of the NGW Ring
Wars opening sequence which featured a montage of various New Generation
Wrestling superstars such as; Saturn, Too Cold Scorpio, The Sandman, Chris
Kanyon, The Dudley Boyz, Taz, The Acolytes, William Regal, Sabu, Eddy Guerrero,
Vampiro, Raven, Jeff Jarrett, Rob Van Dam, 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner,
'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and more. This
is New Generation Wrestling and this is RING WARS... We entered the
arena with Joey Styles and Paul Heyman welcoming us to the show. Tonight; The Flock versus Saturn & Sabu
& Vampiro in a six man tag, Goldust goes one-on-one with The Sandman, Simon
Diamond & Swinger versus Jung Dragons versus The Acolytes versus Evolution
in a Four Corners Elimination Tag Team match to see who will challenge The
Dudley Boyz for the World Tag Team Titles at Animosity, and so much more here
tonight... Opening Match: Jeff Jarrett (c) v. Michael Modest - NGW
United States Heavyweight Title.
"Cowboy" by Kid Rock blared over the speakers as the NGW
United States Heavyweight Champion, 'The Chosen One' Jeff Jarrett headed out to
the ring to kick things off with a title defense. Then, "Natural One" by Folk
Implosion blared over the speakers as 'The Natural One' Michael Modest made his
way out to the ring. Modest gave Jarrett
a run for his money in a real good match a few weeks back on RAGE. Jarrett made it to BattleBowl last night but
was unable to become Lord Of The Ring after being eliminated by Taz. This would be a real solid, technical
wrestling opener between Jarrett and Modest.
The ending would see Jarrett go for a single arm DDT but Modest
countered it with an inverted atomic drop then a short lariat. Modest headed up top and came off with a
Bombs Away Kneedrop but Jarrett rolled out of the way! Jarrett grabbed the leg and signalled for a figure
four leglock ... Jarrett went for it but Modest rolled him up for the one ...
two ... THR ... NO! Jarrett got a
shoulder up! Jarrett got up and went for
a short arm clothesline but Modest ducked, kicked Jarrett and went for the
Cradle Suplex but Jarrett dropped down the back and planted Modest with the
Stroke for the one ... two ... THREE!
'The Chosen One' Jeff Jarrett retains the NGW U.S. Heavyweight Title in
a hard fought match! WINNER: Jeff Jarrett in 7:05. Rating: *** 3/4 (Jeff Jarrett retained the NGW United States Heavyweight
Title.) ["Walk" by Pantera] 'The Whole F'N
Show' Rob Van Dam headed out to the ring but didn't have his usual cool, calm
demeanor. Van Dam looked pissed off and
rightfully so after last night. RVD took
a microphone... VAN DAM:
"Stone Cold Steve Austin, its not my damn problem that Scott
Steiner took out your knee ... its not my problem that you couldn't continue
and you beat some referees ... I don't give a damn about that but what is my
problem is you hitting me with a Stunner and helping Scott Steiner win last
night. Where the hell do you get off
helping Steiner win? I don't care if
you're Stone Cold, I don't care about all the crap you've done in the past or
how tough you say you are, I'm Rob Van Dam and nobody does that to Rob Van Dam. Why doesn't the so called toughest SOB in NGW
limp down that ramp and come get into R-V-D's face? I wanna know what the ... " ["Glass Shatters" by Disturbed] RVD was
interrupted as 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin headed out to the ring, his knee still
bandaged up. Austin took to one corner but
as he walked across the ring, Van Dam pulled his shoulder, going face to face
with Austin... VAN DAM: "No
... you don't come out here like you're better then Rob Van Dam ... You come
out and you give some damn answers!" AUSTIN: "You
want answers from Stone Cold Steve Austin?
What? You think that I answer to
you? WHAT? Stone Cold don't answer to nobody but you
see, RVD, you fail to see the big picture.
Nobody, not you, not antbody is beating Scott Steiner for the World
Championship but the man you've got your little glazed over eyes locked on
right now. I want Scott Steiner and I
want the World Championship and I want it all in one ass whipping! If you got a problem with that then why don't
you do something about it?" ["Oh! Oh! Shawn!"] Van Dam and
Austin were almost nose to nose when the NGW Commissioner, Shawn Michaels
walked out onto the stage... MICHAELS:
"Well, well, well, it looks like we have ourselves quite the
problem here. When there's a problem to
be solved, that's where HBK comes in.
I've taken into account that Stone Cold felt shafted by the referee's
decision last night but you shouldn't have determined the fate of the match so
right here tonight ... one on one ... It'll be Stone Cold Steve Austin versus
Rob Van Dam and the winner will get a shot at Big Poppa Pump for the World
Championship at Animosity! And that my
friends is the way its gonna be." Shawn Michaels
walked to the back. Austin trash talked
and flipped off Van Dam. RVD just shook
his head and left the ring. Austin
called for a few beers but Van Dam came back in and chop blocked the knee of
Austin! Van Dam flipped Austin the
double bird then pointed to himself and left.
What a match it's gonna be tonight!
Rob Van Dam one on one with Stone Cold Steve Austin! Match #2: The Flock v. Saturn & Sabu &
Vampiro. "Immune" by Godsmack
blared over the speakers as The Flock's Chris Kanyon, 'Dangerous' Devon Storm
and 'Sick' Scott Vick headed out to the ring for six man tag team action. Then, "Beautiful People" by Marilyn
Manson brought Saturn out to the ring.
Saturn went right at Chris Kanyon and ended up getting tripled
teamed. "Little Crazy" by
Fight hit as 'The Human Highlight Reel' Sabu rushed out. Sabu came in with a springboard dropkick on
Vick but got caught with a DDT from Storm.
The Flock was in control but then the lights went out ... "Kong At
The Gates" by The Misfits sounded over the speakers and when the lights
came back on, 'The Dark Angel' Vampiro was in the ring. Vampiro evened the score and helped clean
house. With the sides evened up, we
could now get down to six man tag action.
The ending would see Kanyon go for a fireman's carry facebuster but
Saturn dropped out, kicked Kanyon and hit a front layout suplex! Saturn then called for the Death Valley
Driver but saw Raven jump over the guardrail.
Saturn turned and jumped onto Raven with a plancha! Sabu came in and sent Kanyon into the corner
and hit a leg lariat. Storm came in and
caught Sabu with the Mind Bender!
Vampiro scooped up Storm and planted him with the Vampiro Spike! Kanyon hit Vampiro with a thrust kick,
sending him to the outside. Meanwhile,
Raven caught Saturn with the Evenflow DDT on the concrete and rolled him in ...
Kanyon covered for the one ... two ... THREE!
Raven continues to torment Saturn as The Flock is victorious! WINNERS: The Flock in 5:58. Rating: ** 3/4 ["British Doom" by Jim Johnston] William Regal
headed out to the ring in his wrestling gear.
Regal also had a referee with him.
Regal got into the ring and took a microphone... REGAL: "I'm
out here tonight to make a challenge.
You see I am the only royalty around here. I come from a royal country, England and if
anyone should be the Lord Of The Ring then it's me not that miserable toerag
Taz. Taz, you're nothing more then a
glorified street thug, you're now Lord Of The Ring, and I want you to come out
here right and I'll prove to you who the real Lord Of The Ring is..." Match #3: William Regal v. Taz. You don't have to ask Taz twice. "War Machine" blasted over the
speakers as 'The Human Suplex Machine' Taz, the Lord Of The Ring, walked out to
the ring. Regal rushed Taz as he stepped
through the ropes. Regal drilled Taz
with some forearms then planted Taz with the British Neckbreaker! Regal covers for the one ... two ... TAz
KICKS OUT! Taz kicked out of the British
Neckbreaker! Regal went into his tights
and tried to get the brass knux but Taz just popped up and dumped Regal with a
Head & Arm Tazplex! Taz drilled
Regal with a couple hard clotheslines.
Regal got up, staggered around and right into the Tazmission! Regal taps out quick! Taz choked Regal out and threw him down to
the canvas! What a dominating win for
the Lord Of The Ring! WINNER: Taz in 2:01. Rating: ** ["I Need A Freak" by Too $hort] The NGW World
Champion, 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner walked out to the ring along with
Midajah. Steiner was oozing with
arrogance after retaining his World Championship last night. Steiner posed for a bit then took the
microphone... STEINER: "Big
Poppa Pump is still the World Champion ... HOLLA IF YA HEAR ME! All my freaks out there knew that there was
no chance that Stone Cold Steve Redneck or the Whole F'N Joke had a chance
against the greatest athlete in the world.
When you've got all the talent in the world combined with the largest
arms in the world, there ain't nobody who can stop you. There ain't nobody that can stop Big Poppa
Pump. Now Stone Cold and RVD are gonna
have a match to see who faces me at Animosity?
Come on! Can't you find a new
challenger? How many times do I have to
embarass Steve Austin? How many times do
I have to punk out Rob Van Dam? Its time
you two packed it up and went home cause you got no chance against the genetic
freak. Keep lining them up and I'll keep
knocking them down until there's no one left and I retire the World
Champion! The question tonight isn't
who's gonna challenge me at Animosity, the real question is who's gonna make like
all the hoochies and go down to the Big Bad Booty Daddy?" Scott Steiner
dropped the microphone and posed again for a bit as we headed to a break... Match #4: Goldust v. The Sandman. "Shattered Dreams" sounded over the
speakers as 'The Bizarre One' Goldust walked out to the ring for this big
grudge match. Then, "Enter
Sandman" by Metallica blared over the speakers as 'The Extreme Icon' The
Sandman headed out to the ring along with Terri. Sandman seemed calm as he set down a six pack
on the ring steps. Must be saving it for
the victory party. He walked through the
ropes and just stepped up in Goldust's face.
Goldust did his deep breath thing but Sandman put his arms out and told
Goldust to hit him. Goldust nailed
Sandman with a right hand, Sandman shook it off and spat in Goldust's
face! Sandman took down Goldust and
began pounding the crap out of him!
These two hated enemies went at it tough and nail in this one. Goldust walked out on Too Cold Scorpio in the
Lethal Lottery round last night in fear of Sandman but tonight he got more
Sandman then anyone could handle. The
ending would see Sandman go for a White Russian Legsweep but Goldust elbowed
him off. Goldust tried to send Sandman
into the corner but Sandman reversed it.
Sandman charged in but Goldust got the feet up and hit a bulldog for
two. Goldust sent Sandman into the ropes
for a backdrop but Sandman countered it with a DDT! Lori ran out and slid into the ring but
Sandman grabbed his ex-wife by the hair.
Terri came in and took down Lori and the new rolled around as Joey
Styles screamed CAAAAAAAAAAATFIIIIIIGHT!
The referee tried to pull the two ladies apart. Goldust pulled something out of his sleeve
then turned around and threw a FIREBALL at Sandman! OH MY GOD!
Goldust cradled up Sandman for the one ... two ... THREE! Goldust throws a fireball at Sandman and
picks up the win. WINNER: Goldust in 7:19. Rating: * Afterwards,
Sandman rolled around, clutching his face.
Goldust went over and grabbed one of Sandman's beers. He opened it and poured it all out onto
Sandman then got the mic from Finkel... GOLDUST:
"Oooohhhhh ... where there's smoke ... there's fire ... where
there's beer ... There's a washed up, passed out drunk. Its time to walk away, Sandman ... cause you
will never forget the name offffffffff GOLDUST!" [backstage] NGW Commissioner
Shawn Michaels was shown talking on a cell phone when 'The Human Suplex
Machine' Taz busted in... MICHAELS:
"Taz ... what can I do for you?" TAZ: "I said
I would be the Lord Of The Ring and last night I beat everybodies asses and did
what I said. That English muffin William
Regal was runnin' his mouth and he got choked out. Now I wanna know what being this so called
Lord Of The Ring gets me?" MICHAELS:
"What'd you want?" TAZ: "What do
I want? I want ol' Double J himself,
Jeff Jarrett for the US Heavyweight Title in a SUBMISSION match so I can choke
his ass out once and for all." MICHAELS:
"You got it at Animosity..." Match #5: Simon Diamond & Swinger v. Jung Dragons v.
The Acolytes v. Evolution - Four Corners Elimination. "Simon Says" by Drain STH blared
over the speakers as Dawn Marie led Simon Diamond & Swinger out to the
ring. Simon & Swinger put in a great
showing against Kanyon & Jarrett last night but a title belt shot caused
their downfall. "I Don't Mind"
by Drain STH brought the Jung Dragons out to the ring. "El Cu Cuy" by Coal Chamber blared
over the speakers as the former World Tag Team Champions, The Acolytes made
their way out. Then, "Intergalactic" by Beastie
Boys blared over the speakers as Evolution headed out. These four teams went at it in a Four Corners
Elimination Match to determine who will go to Animosity to challenge The Dudley
Boyz. The first elimination would come
when Bradshaw was just beating the stuffing out of Yang in the corner. Kaz came in with a springboard dropkick on
the big man. Yang went up top and came
off with the Yang Time but Bradshaw rolled out of the way. Bradshaw got up and leveled Yang with the
Clothesline From Hell for the one ... two ... THREE! (6:07) Bradshaw gloated but Jason Jett came in with
an Afterburner! Jett quickly covered the
stunned Bradshaw for the one! two! THREE! (6:19) Jason Jett surprises Bradshaw
and has eliminated the former World Tag Team Champions! Bradshaw got up and drilled Jett with a big
boot before leaving. Simon Diamond &
Swinger took advantage of this and isolated Jett in their corner. Who will challenge The Dudley Boyz at
Animosity? Will it be Simon Diamond
& Swinger or will it be Evolution?
These two teams picked it up a notch, with that opportunity on the
line. The ending would see Simon go for
the Simon Series on Jett but Jett blocked the last suplex and countered it with
the Crash Landing! Jett covers for the
one ... two ... THR ... Dawn Marie puts Simon's foot on the ropes! Nova went around and confronted Dawn
Marie. Simon came from behind and
drilled Jett low then hit the Simonizer!
Diamond covers Jett for the one ... two ... THREE! Simon Diamond & Swinger steal it and will
challenge The Dudley Boyz in just under five weeks for the World Tag Team
Titles. WINNERS: Simon Diamond & Swinger in 10:20. Rating: ** 1/2 [backstage] We cut to a shot
of 'The Whole F'N Show' Rob Van Dam exiting his dressing room then 'Stone Cold'
Steve Austin exiting his dressing room.
RVD versus STONE COLD ... ONE ON ONE ... NEXT! Main Event: Steve Austin v. Rob Van Dam - NGW World
Championship Shot @ Animosity.
"Glass Shatters" by Disturbed blared over the speakers as
'Stone Cold' Steve Austin headed out to the ring with a slight limp and his
right knee bandaged up. Then,
"Walk" by Pantera blasted over the speakers as 'The Whole F'N Show'
Rob Van Dam made his way out of the ring.
The winner here moves into a one-on-one match with 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott
Steiner for the NGW World Championship on May 26th at Animosity. Austin was forced out of the Three Way Dance
via DQ last night only to return and cost Rob Van Dam the match because he
wants to be the one to end Steiner's reign.
Obviously that infuriated the usually cool RVD. Van Dam locked up with Stone Cold but Austin
broke out of it and slugged away on RVD.
Austin sent Van Dam into the ropes but RVD came off with a dropkick
right to the knee. There could be no
bigger bullseye for Rob Van Dam then the one on Stone Cold's right knee. Van Dam used his vast array of kicks to wear
down that knee of Austin and try to keep the Rattlesnake down. Much easier said then done as Stone Cold
never quits and never stops getting up, no matter how much pain he's in. The closing moments of the match would see
Austin go for a suplex but his knee gave out and Van Dam small packaged him for
the one ... two ... THR ... NO! Austin
got free! Van Dam punched Austin and
sent him into the ropes but Austin came off with a Thesz Press! Stone Cold hammered on RVD then got up and
went to bounce off the ropes but his knee was hampering him. Austin dropped an elbow but RVD rolled out of
the way. Van Dam caught Austin with a
chin crusher. RVD bounced off the ropes
and went for a Rolling Thunder but Austin got the knees up! That hurt Van Dam but it also hurt Austin's
knee further. Both men struggled to
their feet and slugged it out. Austin
got the better and sent Van Dam into the ropes, Van Dam came off with a
spinning heel kick but Austin ducked and Van Dam caught the referee, knocking
down and out. Van Dam turned around and
Austin went for a kick but Van Dam caught the leg, stepped over and drilled
Austin with a spin kick! Van Dam pulled
himself to the top for the Five Star Frog Splash ... Waitaminute! EDDY GUERRERO had ran down. Guerrero jumped up on the apron and shoved
Van Dam off the top rope. Van Dam yelled
at Guerrero as he got up. Austin spins
Van Dam around and STONE COLD STUNNER!
Austin picked up Van Dam and hit a second Stunner! Austin covered Van Dam as the referee crawled
over and counted the one ... two ... THREE!
'Stone Cold' Steve Austin is going to Animosity to challenge Scott
Steiner for the World Championship! WINNER: Steve Austin in 16:02. Rating: *** 3/4 Afterwards, Eddy
Guerrero backed up the ramp with a cocky look on his face saying, 'That's my
move, esae, nobody steals my move!'
Austin's knee was still real bad but he called for some beers and
cracked them open as he propped himself up against the ropes! Austin's attention was turned to the entrance
where Scott Steiner had walked out.
Steiner just looked at Austin in the ring and flexed. Austin flipped off Big Poppa Pump as we ended
the show... ==-==-==-==-==-==-== NGW News & Notes-: ==-==-==-==-==-==-== -William Regal and New Generation Wrestling have agreed
