NGW Ring Wars - April 8 / 2002

-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-

"Praise" by Sevendust played in the background of the NGW Ring Wars opening sequence which featured a montage of various New Generation Wrestling superstars such as; The Sandman, Too Cold Scorpio, DDP, Chris Kanyon, The Dudley Boyz, Taz, The Acolytes, William Regal, Sabu, Vampiro, Raven, Jeff Jarrett, Rob Van Dam, Scott Steiner, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and more.  This is New Generation Wrestling RING WARS...

We entered the arena with Joey Styles and Paul Heyman welcoming everyone to the show. We've got a show packed with wrestling action tonight as we're thirteen days away from Lord Of The Ring.  Tonight in a huge Main Event it will be 'STONE COLD' STEVE AUSTIN teaming with 'THE DARK ANGEL' VAMPIRO against 'BIG POPPA PUMP' SCOTT STEINER and RAVEN against 'THE WHOLE F'N SHOW' ROB VAN DAM and 'THE HUMAN HIGHLIGHT REEL' SABU in a Three Way Dance...

Opening Match: Eddy Guerrero v. Jason Jett.  "Siempre Peligroso" by Cypress Hill blared over the speakers as Eddy Guerrero headed out to the ring to kick things off.  Then, "Ultra Mega" by Powerman 5000 blasted over the speakers as Evolution's Jason Jett made his way out to the ring.  The drawings for the Lethal Lottery were announced last week and Eddy Guerrero will team with Diamond Dallas Page against Jason Jett and Chris Candido.  This would be a really heated match to kick things off.  The ending would see Guerrero go for a brain buster but Jett blocked it and went for the Crash Landing but Eddy flipped over the back.  Eddy shoved Jett into the ropes and went for a rolling reverse cradle but Jett held onto the ropes.  Jett went out to apron and flipped in with an Afterburner but Guerrero ducked, hooked up Jett and spiked him with a brain buster.  Guerrero went up top and came off with the Frog Splash for the one ... two ... THREE!  Eddy Guerrero takes a strong win over Jason Jett...

WINNER: Eddy Guerrero in 5:40.

Rating: ***

The Coach got some comments from Goldust about the surprise altercation with his father, Dusty Rhodes last week and the fact he teams with Too Cold Scorpio against The Sandman and Nova in the Lethal Lottery...

GOLDUST:  "Sandman, you can play your games but when the smoke clears and dust settles, I still have your family.  Each day, I grow closer to little Tyler, each day he grows closer to me and each day, he learns another reason to hate you.  I will continue to break you down, piece by piece until you're a sad and pathetic shell of your former self.  I am already the lord of the mind and before I finish you off, Sandman, I will become the Lord Of The Ring ... No one will ever forget the name of ... GOLDUST!"

Match #2: Goldust v. Nova.  "Shattered Dreams" sounded over the speakers as 'The Bizarre One' Goldust made his entrance.  Then, "Intergalactic" by Beastie Boys blasted over the speakers as Nova headed out to the ring.  At Lord Of The Ring, Goldust will team with Too Cold Scorpio against Nova and The Sandman in the Lethal Lottery round.  Nova tried to keep the match fast paced against the more brawling based Goldust.  Goldust toyed with Nova during the match, putting Nova in several weird positions.  The ending would see Nova go for a Spin Doctor but Goldust picked up Nova and put him on the top rope.  Goldust went for a superplex but Nova shoved him off and hit a flying somersault neckbreaker!  Nova hit a arm-trap rocker dropper for the one ... two ... THR ... NO!  Goldust got a shoulder up!  Nova went for a Sledge-O-Matic but Goldust countered it with a slingshot then hit the Curtain Call for the one ... two ... THREE!  Goldust takes the win!

WINNER: Goldust in 4:08.

Rating: * 1/2

Afterwards, Goldust picked up Nova and set him up in the corner for the Shattered Dreams kick but The Sandman hit the ring with singapore cane in hand!  Sandman drilled Goldust in the knees a few times then wound up to hit him over the head but Lori had hit the ring and drilled Sandman low.  Goldust hit a Curtain Call on Sandman then picked up the cane and began wailing away on Sandman.  That was until Too Cold Scorpio hit the ring and ran off Goldust.  Goldust grabbed a microphone from Finkel...

GOLDUST:  "Too Cold!  You've got a choice to make ... Be a friend or be have a chance at being Lord Of The Ring..."

A long black limousine pulls up to the arena and out steps the NGW World Champion, 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner and Midajah.  The Coach gets some comments from Steiner...

STEINER:  "What Rob Van Dam did last week was a fluke, it'll never happen again because when the gold is on line, that's when Big Poppa Pump shines.  Does RVD have a death wish?  Or has he just lit up one too many fatties?  Just keep lining them up cause the largest arms in the world will keep knockin' them down.  I'm the greatest athlete in the world and the Big Bad Booty Daddy will be the World Champion ... FOREVER!"

Match #3: Simon Diamond & Swinger v. Chris Kanyon & Scott Vick.  "Simon Says" by Drain STH blared over the speakers as Dawn Marie led her team of Simon Diamond and Swinger out to the ring.  Then, "Immune" by Godsmack blasted over the speakers as The Flock's Chris Kanyon and 'Sick' Scott Vick headed out to the ring.  Simon & Swinger got the luckiest draw in the Lethal Lottery winding up together.  They'll face Chris Kanyon and Jeff Jarrett at Lord Of The Ring but tonight they face Kanyon and his Flock-mate Scott Vick in tag team action.  The crowd didn't really get behind either of these teams in this one.  The ending would see Kanyon go for a samoan drop on Simon but showboated and Simon crucifixed him up for the one ... two ... THR ... NO!  Kanyon got up and went for a quick lariat but Simon ducked and caught Kanyon with a northern lights suplex but Vick pulled Simon's leg to break the cover.  Swinger ran over and went for a baseball slide dropkick but Vick pulled him out.  Vick threw Swinger into the ring steps.  Simon went for the Simonizer on Kanyon but Vick came in with a springboard clothesline to Simon.  Kanyon planted Simon with the Flatliner for the one ... two ... THREE!  The Flock takes the win.

WINNERS: The Flock in 5:07.

Rating: ** 1/2

The Coach got some comments from 'The Whole F'n Show' Rob Van Dam...

VAN DAM:  "What I did last week wasn't a fluke.  It wasn't a fluke when I beat Raven.  It wasn't a fluke when I knocked Stone Cold's lights out with a Van Daminator and it wasn't a fluke when I hit that Five Star Frog Splash on Big Poppa Pump.  What it was, was a preview.  A preview of Lord Of The Ring where everybody's favorite wrestler, Rob Van Dam, won't be denied the World Championship.  All I did last week is show once again why R-V-D is the WHOLE F'N SHOW!"

Match #4: Faarooq v. D-Von Dudley.  "El Cu Cuy" by Coal Chamber blasted over the speakers as one-half of the NGW World Tag Team Champions The Acolytes, Faarooq headed out to the ring along with Bradshaw.  Then, "Turn The Tables" by Saliva blared over the speakers as D-Von Dudley made his way out to the ring with Buh Buh Ray Dudley.  These two teams square off at Lord Of The Ring for the World Tag Team Titles.  Last week, Bradshaw got a win over Buh Buh but The Dudleyz put him through a table.  The ending of this one would see Faarooq go for a Dominator on D-Von but D-Von countered it with a backdrop then went up top and hit a flying headbutt for the one ... two ... THR ... Bradshaw puts Faarooq's foot on the ropes!  The referee went outside and reprimended Bradshaw.  Buh Buh Ray Dudley came into the ring and The Dudley Boyz hit the 3D on Faarooq!  D-Von covered for the one ... two ... THREE!  D-Von Dudley scores the singles win over Faarooq!

WINNER: D-Von Dudley in 4:01.

Rating: *

Afterwards, Bradshaw exploded into the ring and caught Buh Buh Ray Dudley with the Clothesline From Hell!  D-Von slugged it out with Bradshaw until he turned around into the Spinebuster from Faarooq!  Bradshaw looked at Faarooq and mocked the Dudley Boyz, yelling 'FAA-ROOQ!  GET THE TABLE!'  Faarooq headed out of the ring and brought a table into the ring.  They rolled Buh Buh onto the table then would Stuff Power Bomb D-Von through Buh Buh and the table!  The Acolytes have paid back The Dudley Boyz for last week...

The Coach got some comments from Saturn...

SATURN:  "This is just great, I gotta team with Devon Storm at Lord Of The Ring?  What's gonna stop me from just beatin' his ass and goin' home?  Me.  That's who.  I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but I'm not sacrificing my shot at the Lord Of The Ring because of Devon Storm.  The Flock will continue to pay a price but for a few minutes at Lord Of The Ring, their suffering will be temporarily delayed.  Tonight, I got Devon Storm in that ring ... Tape up those fists, partner, and get ready for a fight!"

Match #5: Devon Storm v. Saturn.  "Terrible Lie" by Nine Inch Nails blasted over the speakers as 'Dangerous' Devon Storm headed out to the ring for our next match.  Then, "Beautiful People" by Marilyn Manson blared over the speakers as Saturn made his way out to the ring.  Devon Storm's association with The Flock makes him a target of Saturn in Saturn's never-ending struggle with The Flock but while these two are fighting tonight, they must team up and attempt to co-exist at Lord Of The Ring against Sabu and Vampiro.  The ending would see Saturn hit a superkick for two on Storm.  Saturn then went for the Rings Of Saturn but Storm got the ropes.  Storm rolled to the outside and Saturn came out with a plancha but Storm dodged it!  Storm went up to the apron and hit a running lariat off the apron!  Storm rolled Saturn into the ring and headed up top ... Storm flew off with a Flying Splash for the one ... two ... THR ... NO!  Saturn got a shoulder up!  Storm picked up Saturn for a Thunderclap Brainbuster but Saturn dropped down the back and hit a tiger suplex for the one ... two ... THR ... NO!  Storm kicked out!  Saturn went for a brain buster of his own, Storm dropped down this time, went for the Mind Bender but Saturn elbowed him off, sent Storm into the ropes then hoisted him up and spiked him with the Death Valley Driver for the one ... two ... THREE!  Saturn takes a hard fought win over Devon Storm.

WINNER: Saturn in 6:09.

Rating: ** 3/4

Afterwards, Chris Kanyon and Scott Vick hit the ring and jumped Saturn.  Storm soon joined in for a three-on-one assault of Saturn.  Wait!  Here comes Sabu ... and Vampiro!  Sabu hit the ring and drilled Kanyon with a springboard leg lariat.  Vampiro came in and drilled Vick with a roundhouse kick and Saturn sent Storm out of the ring!  Sabu, Vampiro and Saturn all looked at each other then looked at Storm on the outside ... Sabu and Vampiro have to team up at Lord Of The Ring against Saturn ... and Devon Storm...

The Coach got some comments from 'The Human Suplex Machine' Taz...

TAZ:  "When Heartbreak announced the Lethal Lottery and BattleBowl for Lord Of The Ring, I gots to thinkin'.  Why the hell would Taz wanna be in this thing?  Why would the one man crime spree from the Hook wanna be the Lord Of The Ring?  I don't give a damn about being no Lord but what I see is an opportunity to choke a lot of people out.  I'll be the Lord Of The Ring cause its a matter of survival and no one can survive the Human Suplex Machine.  I am Taz ... BEAT ME IF YOU CAN ... SURVIVE IF I LET YOU!"

Match #6: William Regal v. Taz.  "British Doom" by Jim Johnston sounded over the speakers as William Regal made his way out to the ring.  Then, "War Machine" blasted over the speakers as 'The Human Suplex Machine' Taz headed out to the ring.  William Regal will team with Al Snow against Taz and Raven at Lord Of The Ring.  Regal and Snow don't exactly get along and its tough to see how Taz and Raven could possibly co-exist.  However, tonight it was about Taz and Regal going one-on-one.  Regal and Taz fought it out in a real stiff brawl with lots of suplexes and submission attempts between the brawling.  The ending would see Regal pound Taz with forearms in the corner, then back up and charge in but Taz drilled him with a back elbow.  Regal came in again and Taz hooked him up, turned around and threw Regal with a Head & Arm Tazplex!  Taz made the cover for two.  Taz went for a running lariat but Regal ducked.  Regal kicked Taz and planted him with a double underhook power bomb for two.  Regal went for the Regal Stretch but Taz fought it off.  Regal went for another power bomb but Taz countered it with a backdrop then took off Regal's head with a lariat.  Taz went for the Tazmission but Regal drilled him with a back kick.  Regal went into the tights and put on the brass knuckles.  Regal swung at Taz but Taz ducked!  Taz locks Regal in the Tazmission!  Regal taps! Regal taps!  Taz gets a big win over William Regal with the Tazmission!

WINNER: Taz in 7:02.

Rating: ** 1/2

The Coach got some comments from NGW Commissioner, Shawn Michaels...

MICHAELS:  "First off, The Acolytes and The Dudley Boyz seem to like using tables so their match at Lord Of The Ring will be a DOUBLE TABLES match!"

COACH:  "Shawn, there's been a lot of talk ever since your big announcement last week, that well a World Heavyweight Champion will be jumping ship to New Generation Wrestling.  Can you shed anymore light on this situation?"

MICHAELS:  "No but what I can tell you is that a World Heavyweight Champion *IS* on his way to NGW in the upcoming months.  I really can't comment any further then that..."

Main Event: Steve Austin & Vampiro v. Rob Van Dam & Sabu v. Scott Steiner & Raven.  "Glass Shatters" by Disturbed blasted over the speakers as 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin headed out to a huge pop from the crowd.  Stone Cold made his way out and took to the four corners, then paced around the ring.  "Kong At The Gates" by The Misfits brought out his tag team partner for this match, 'The Dark Angel' Vampiro.  Then, "Little Crazy" by Fight blared over the speakers as Bill Alfonso led out 'The Human Highlight Reel' Sabu to the ring.  "Walk" by Pantera blasted over the speakers as 'The Whole F'N Show' Rob Van Dam headed out to the ring.  Then, "Come Out And Play" by Offspring hit as Raven walked out to the ring.  "I Am Hated" by SlipKnot blasted over the speakers as the NGW World Champion, 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner made his way out to the ring along with Midajah for this big Three Way Dance.  Let's take a look at the teams.  Austin and Vampiro are no strangers to each other and there may be some underlying animosity there.  Van Dam and Sabu trained together and have the most experience as a tag team by far but haven't teamed up in quite some time. Raven teaming with the World Champion, Scott Steiner is a wild card because Raven has expressed his approval of Steiner's actions in the past but the two haven't had any experience teaming or interaction together.  We do know that Steiner will defend his World Championship at Lord Of The Ring against 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and Rob Van Dam in a Three Way Dane while Sabu and Vampiro will team up against Saturn and Devon Storm while Raven teams with Taz against William Regal and Al Snow in the Lethal Lottery.  This would be a really action packed, heated three way dance with tons of near falls.  The first elimination would come when Van Dam went for a frankensteiner on Scott Steiner but Steiner countered it with a power bomb.  Steiner locked RVD in the Steiner Recliner but Sabu came in and hit Steiner with a dropkick to the face to break it up.  Raven slid a chair in to Steiner and distracted the referee.  Steiner picked up the chair ... Austin makes a blind tag on Steiner ... Steiner hesitates and Van Daminator on Steiner!  Van Dam is unaware of the tag ... Van Dam up top and Five Star Frog Splash on Steiner!  Van Dam gets up to go for the cover but Austin catches Van Dam with the Stunner!  Austin covers Van Dam for the one ... two ... Vampiro ties up Sabu ... THREE!  (10:11) Stone Cold has pinned and eliminated 'The Whole F'n Show'!  Austin made a quick cover on Steiner for the one ... two ... THR ... Raven breaks it up!  Raven picked up Austin and spiked him with an Evenflow DDT!  Steiner was too out of it and just rolled over and made the tag to Raven but Austin got the tag to Vampiro!  Vampiro came in and cleaned house on Raven!  Raven soon went to the eyes and took Vampiro into his corner, regaining control of the match.  Austin & Vampiro and Steiner & Raven battled it out for a good amount of time.  The closing moments of the match would see Steiner go for an overhead belly-to-belly suplex on Vampiro but Vampiro shoved him down and hit a spinning heel kick!  Vampiro made the tag out to Austin.  Austin came in, so did Raven but Austin knocked him down.  Steiner sent Austin into the ropes but Austin came off with a Thesz Press and punches.  Raven caught Austin with a bulldog.  Vampiro came back in and tried a superkick on Raven but Raven moved and Vampiro caught the referee!  Raven drilled Vampiro with a clothesline, sending both men to the outside.  Steiner rolled over and Midajah went under the ring and passed Big Poppa Pump the lead pipe.  Steiner turns around but Austin kicks him, grabs the pipe, nails Steiner in the head ... Steiner's out on his feet and STUNNER from Austin!  Austin covers Steiner, the referee crawls over and counts the one ... two ... THREE!  Stone Cold has beaten the World Champion!  Stone Cold has pinned Scott Steiner!  Austin has pinned Steiner and Rob Van Dam in one match!

WINNERS: Steve Austin & Vampiro in 19:06.

Rating: *** 1/2

Afterwards, Stone Cold called for a few beers and celebrated as the show went off the air.  Last week, Rob Van Dam showed why he's The Whole F'n Show but tonight was Stone Cold's night!
