NGW Ring Wars - March 4 / 2002

-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-

We opened up with a montage of footage with Scott Steiner taking out Rob Van Dam and putting him on the shelf then Van Dam coming off the cage at Blazing Glory with a Five Star Frog Splash.  We then saw clips of Steiner screwing Stone Cold out of the World Championship at Initial Assault and Austin and Steiner brawling last week.  After that we saw clips of Vampiro debuting at Blazing Glory then pinning William Regal last week.  Tonight, 'The Whole F'n Show' Rob Van Dam, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and 'The Dark Angel' Vampiro face off in a Three Way Dance to determine who will face 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner for the NGW World Championship at March Madness...

"Praise" by Sevendust played in the background of the NGW Ring Wars opening sequence which featured a montage of various New Generation Wrestling superstars such as; The Sandman & Too Cold Scorpio, DDP, Chris Kanyon, The Dudley Boyz, Taz, William Regal, Sabu, Raven, Jeff Jarrett, Rob Van Dam, Scott Steiner, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and more.  This is New Generation Wrestling RING WARS...

We entered the arena with Joey Styles and Paul Heyman hyping up tonight's huge Main Event plus we've got three Non-Title matches as the NGW United States Champion, Jeff Jarrett faces Al Snow, the World Tag Team Champions The Acolytes battle The Dudley Boyz and the World Champion Scott Steiner goes one-on-one with Saturn plus much, much more...

["Walk" by Pantera]

The crowd rose to their feet as 'The Whole F'n Show' Rob Van Dam stepped out of the entrance.  We haven't seen RVD on Ring Wars since about three weeks ago when he was brutally assaulted by Scott Steiner and William Regal.  Van Dam headed into the ring and took the microphone...

VAN DAM:  "Before I talk about tonight's big Three Way Dance, I wanna say a few words to William Regal and Scott Steiner.  You thought you could put me out, you thought you could end my career but you failed.  The only person that can take RVD outta this game is Rob Van Dam.  Sure you may have busted my ribs, given me a concussion but all you did was piss me off.  Usually I'm a pretty laid back guy but when someone tries to end my career ... that's not cool.  That's not cool at all.  Not only did you piss me off but you pissed all these people off because they had to go a few weeks without seeing their favorite wrestler.  That brings me to tonight.  I'm gonna make up for some lost time by winning this Three Way Dance, going to March Madness and taking the World Championship from Scott Steiner.  Stone Cold and Vampiro may be good but they're not Rob Van Dam and they're sure as hell not the Whole F'n Show!"

["Hell Yeah" by Disturbed]

The glass shattered as 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin headed out to the ring.  Austin took to the four corners then took a microphone...

AUSTIN:  "I hate to ruin your big return but there's one man that's going to March Madness to take the World Championship from Scott Steiner and that man isn't Rob Van Dam.  EH! EH!  That man is Stone Cold Steve Austin! When I rolled into town last week, when I rolled in this week and when I roll in every week Stone Cold Steve Austin only has one thing on his mind and that's becoming the World Champion.  I don't care who you are or what you've done because you're standing in the way of Stone Cold becoming the World Champion and that's a place that you don't want to be.  If you thought you were gonna come here tonight, make your big return and go to March Madness at the expense of Stone Cold Steve Austin then you're sorely mistaken and that's the bottom line, 'cause Stone Cold Said So!"

["Kong At The Gates" by The Misfits]

The arena went dark until a spotlight found 'The Dark Angel' Vampiro standing up in the rafters...

VAMPIRO:  "When I look down at that ring, I see two very popular men.  Two of the best in the world.  Two men at the top of their game.  But when I step into the ring with you two tonight, all I will see is two men in my way.  I said it last week and I'll say it again this week, I came to NGW to become a World Champion.  Therefore, you have been sentenced to eternal damnation!"

We headed to our first break.  Rob Van Dam, Steve Austin and Vampiro will face off in a Three Way Dance tonight!

Opening Match: Devon Storm v. Jason Jett.  "Terrible Lie" by Nine Inch Nails blasted over the speakers as 'Dangerous' Devon Storm from The Flock made his way out to the ring.  Then, "Ultra Mega" by Powerman 5000 blared over the speakers as Jason Jett of Evolution headed out to the ring.  Evolution finished off The Flock in the three way dance at Blazing Glory then The Flock cost Evolution a match last week against the World Tag Team Champions.  The ending would see Storm go for a brain buster but Jett dropped out to the apron.  Jett drilled Storm with a right hand then came in with an Afterburner for two!  Jett called for the Crash Landing but Scott Vick had hit the ring.  Vick came in with a springboard dropkick but Jett moved and Vick hit Storm!  Jett hit Vick a few times then clotheslined him over the top to the outside.  Devon Storm came from behind and rolled up Jett with a handfull of tights for the one-two-THREE!  Devon Storm steals a win over Jason Jett!

WINNER: Devon Storm in 5:04.

Rating: ** 1/4

Afterwards, Vick came back into the ring and jumped Jett from behind.  Storm and Vick double teamed Jett until NOVA hit the ring with a steel chair and sent The Flock running...

Match #2: Simon Diamond & Swinger v. Jung Dragons.  "Simon Says" by Drain STH blasted over the speakers as Dawn Marie led Simon Diamond & Swinger out to the ring.  Then, "I Don't Mind" by Drain STH blared over the speakers as the Jung Dragons, Kaz Hayashi and Yang, headed out to the ring.  A solid fast paced tag team match with two teams looking to move up the rankings towards getting a shot against the World Tag team Champions, The Acolytes.  The ending would see Simon go for a russian legsweep on Kaz Hayashi but Kaz elbowed him off.  Kaz went for the Kaz Driller but Simon shoved him off into Swinger.  Swinger hung Kaz out to dry on the top rope, Kaz stumbled around into the Simonizer!  Simon covered Kaz while Swinger cut off Yang for the one ... two ... HREE!  Simon Diamond & Swinger get back on the winning track and in the Tag Team Title hunt.

WINNERS: Simon Diamond & Swinger in 4:46.

Rating: * 1/2

We went to a special sit-down interview which Joey Styles recorded with The Sandman yesterday in his Philadelphia home...

STYLES:  "I'm here with Jim Fullington, better known to the wrestling world as The Sandman.  Sandman, for weeks on end we heard Goldust talking about exposing someone, exposing their demons and turning the crowd against that person.  We found out at Blazing Glory that Goldust was talking about you and we saw last week that he's turned your own family against you.  What's going through your head right now?"

SANDMAN:  "Where do I even begin, Joey?  You've known me for a long time and you know that I like to drink.  I even admit at times in the past eight or nine years that I've drank too much.  That's the main reason why Lori and I got a divorce because I didn't want Tyler seeing me passed out on the couch.  A few years ago, I changed, I still drink but its not excessive."

STYLES:  "How do you think Goldust turned your own son against you?"

SANDMAN:  "I really don't know when or how it happened.  I don't know how long he's been manipulating my son but if it's the last thing I do, I will make him pay and I will get my son back.  I admit that I'm probably not the world's greatest father but I would NEVER strike my son.  It has never happened and it will never happen.  You know, Joey, there's an old theory about the bigger the lie, the more people will believe in it.  Goldust can tell all the lies he wants, he can fill my son and my ex-wife's heads with garbage but sooner or later, I'll make them see through those lies.  I'm gonna start by taking you out of the picture, Goldust.  If you ever get the guts to get in the ring with me you will know why they call me the EXTREME ICON."

STYLES:  "Coming from a man who's seen your entire career, I want to say a couple words to Goldust.  Drop the act, get out of town before its too late because sooner or later you're going to have to step into the ring with The Sandman and it's not going to be pretty."

Match #3: Goldust v. Too Cold Scorpio.  "Shattered Dreams" sounded over the speakers as the bizzare one, Goldust walked out to the ring.  Styles speculated that the only reason Goldust stepped into the ring tonight is because The Sandman's not here.  "Bad Intentions" by Dr. Dre blared over the speakers as Too Cold Scorpio headed out to the ring.  Scorpio is Sandman's tag team partner and Goldust's actions also cost him the World Tag Team Titles so Scorpio was looking to get a piece of Goldust not just for Sandman but for himself as well.  Goldust thew Scorpio off his game with some bizaree mind games, feeling Scorpio and just freaking him out at key parts off the match.  The ending would see Goldust go for a bulldog but Scorpio threw him off.  Scorpio hit a spinning mule kick then went up top for a moonsault but Goldust got the knees up!  Goldust planted Scorpio with the Curtain Call for the one ... two .. THREE!  Goldust had Scorpio completely thrown off his game and took the win!

WINNER: Goldust in 5:29.

Rating: *

Afterwards, Goldust continued to assault Scorpio then set him up in the corner for the Shattered Dreams kick.  Goldust backed up across the ring ... wait a minute ... The Sandman jumped over the guardrail!  Sandman is in the ring with his cane.  Sandman drilled Goldust in the back with the cane! Sandman has lost it!  Sandman kept trying to nail Goldust with the cane but Goldust rolled quickly out of the ring and up the ramp.  Sandman gave chase to the backstage area.  Goldust ran into a dressing room then Sandman came in after him to see Goldust hiding behind Lori and Tyler.  Sandman pointed his cane at Goldust, "You can't hide forever, Goldust!"

We cut to a shot of Raven slouched down in some dark corner of the arena...

RAVEN:  "I think I have to remind you that just a week ago, I beat Saturn.  Why am I reminding you?  Because Saturn has a match tonight against the World Champion.  Well what about me?  WHAT ABOUT RAVEN?  Where's my big match?  When am I going to get my due?  Never because people are afraid of my intellectual superiority.  Well I'm done wasting my time with Saturn and it's time to remove another thorn from my side.  That thorn is the so called Human Highlight Reel.  That thorn is Sabu.  Sabu, at March Madness, back in Barbed Wire City, I want a match.  In this match, just like Saturn, you will feel the Evenflow and you will not get up.  So it was written, so it shall come to pass ... Quote the Raven, NEVERMORE!"

Match #4: Scott Steiner v. Saturn - Non-Title.  "I Am Hated" by SlipKnot blasted over the speakers as the NGW World Champion, 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner made his way out to the ring along with his favorite freak, Midajah for this non-title contest.  Then, "Beautiful People" by Marilyn Manson blared over the speakers as Saturn headed out to the ring.  A huge opportunity for Saturn here in a non-title match against the World Champion.  Saturn was looking to make good on this rare opportunity and upset the World Champion.  This would be a real rough and tough physical brawl between the two men.  The ending would see Steiner go for a T-Bone Suplex but Saturn elbowed him off then powered Steiner over with a suplex.  Saturn went up top and connected with a flying elbowdrop for the one ... two ... THR ... NO! Steiner got a shoulder up!  Saturn rolled Steiner over into the Rings Of Saturn!  Will Steiner tap?  Steiner struggled and managed to reach the ropes and break the hold!  Saturn went for the Death Valley Driver but Steiner decked Saturn with a clothesline.  Steiner rolled to the outside of the ring and went to grab a steel chair but the referee went out to stop him.  Chris Kanyon hit the ring out of nowhere and planted Saturn with the Flatliner!  Steiner went back into the ring and locked Saturn in the Steiner Recliner for the win!  'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner comes out on top after Kanyon laid out Saturn with a Flatliner.

WINNER: Scott Steiner in 5:31.

Rating: ** 1/4

We cut to a vignette of Taz in the streets of the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, New York...

TAZ:  "Welcome to my world, Jeff Jarrett.  Welcome to the Hook.  While you were busy being groomed to be a wrestler, with a silver spoon in your mouth, the only silver I saw was the silver hubcaps I used as pillows.  You ain't never fought a day in your life, Jarrett.  You've been spoon fed by your promoter father from day one, brotha.  I had to fight for everything, every scrap of food, every nickel, EVERYTHING.  You're afraid of me, Jeff Jarrett, dead afraid and I don't blame you.  You should be afraid because I'm coming for you at March Madness but this time ... let's take it to the streets and let's make it a street fight so you can use your stupid guitars.  You can use any weapon you want but don't look for me to use any weapons, brotha cause my HANDS ARE MY WEAPONS!  Stop acting like a bitch and accept the challenge Jarrett cause either way, that United States Heavyweight Title is coming to the Hook.  Beat me? YOU WON'T ... SURVIVE? I DOUBT IT!"

Match #5: Jeff Jarrett v. Al Snow - Non-Title.  "Cowboy" by Kid Rock blared over the speakers as the NGW United States Heavyweight Champion, 'The Chosen One' Jeff Jarrett headed out to the ring for this non-title bout.  Then, "Breathe" by Prodigy blared over the speakers as Al Snow made his way out to the ring.  Jarrett beat Snow in the tournament finals a couple months ago to become the US Heavyweight Champion.  Jarrett has to put that title back on the line against Taz apparently in a Street Fight.  This would be a solid but unspectacular technical match.  The ending would see Snow go for the Snow Plow but Jarrett dropped out and went for a single arm DDT which Snow countered with a northern lights suplex for two.  Snow smacked Jarrett with a superkick for two.  Snow missed a moonsault and Jarrett went for a figure-four leglock but Snow cradled him up for two.  Snow questioned the count then went to pick up Jarrett but Jarrett snuck in a low blow then planted Snow with the Stroke for the one ... two ... THREE!  Jeff Jarrett continues to win heading into his showdown with Taz.

WINNER: Jeff Jarrett in 5:05.

Rating: * 3/4

We cut to a shot of William Regal and Scott Steiner face-to-face in a dressing room...

STEINER:  "You know exactly what to do..."

Steiner walked out and Regal stood there nodding his head...

Match #6: The Acolytes v. The Dudley Boyz - Non-Title.  "El Cu Cuy" by Coal Chamber blasted over the speakers as the NGW World Tag Team Champions, The Acolytes made their way out to the ring for the third of three non-title matches here tonight.  Then, "Dead Cell" by Papa Roach blared over the speakers as The Dudley Boyz made their way out to the ring.  Much like the two previous matches, The Dudley Boyz were looking to capitilize on this non-title opportunity.  This would be a physical contest between two hard hitting tag teams.  The ending would see D-Von and Bradshaw slugging it out.  D-Von hit a spinning elbowsmash on Bradshaw then headed up top and came off with a flying headbutt!  Bradshaw rolled out of the way!  Bradshaw picked up D-Von and planted him with a power bomb for the one ... two ... THR ... Buh Buh breaks the count!  Faarooq came in and clotheslined Buh Buh out.  Buh Buh pulled Faarooq out and threw him into the ring steps.  On the inside, Bradshaw bounced off the ropes and came at D-Von with the Clothesline From Hell but D-Von ducked and picked up Bradshaw, Buh Buh's back in and 3D!  The Dudleyz hit the 3D on Bradshaw!  D-Von covers for the one ... two ... THREE!  The Dudley Boyz have beaten the World Tag Team Champions!

WINNERS: The Dudley Boyz in 5:59.

Rating: 1/4*

[backstage]

We return from break to see The Dudley Boyz approach Shawn Michaels in the Commissioner's office...

MICHAELS:  "Buh Buh, D-Von, what can I do for you?"

BUH BUH:  "We just went out there and beat the World Tag Team Champions.  What you can do for us is give us what we just earned, a title shot."

MICHAELS:  "You're right, you did earn a title shot out there tonight and you'll get that shot at March Madness."

BUH BUH:  "Good because we'll do the same thing we did tonight and we will be the World Tag Team Champions!"

D-VON:  "TESTIFY!"

Main Event: Rob Van Dam v. Vampiro v. Steve Austin - Number One Contendership.  "Walk" by Pantera blasted over the speakers as 'The Whole F'n Show' Rob Van Dam made his way out to the ring first.  "Kong At The Gates" by The Misfits sounded over the speakers as 'The Dark Angel' Vampiro stalked his way out to the ring.  Then, "Hell Yeah" by Disturbed blared over the speakers as 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin headed out to the ring.  Three of the most popular wrestlers in NGW would fight it out here in a Three Way Dance to determine who will challenge Scott Steiner for the NGW World Championship at NGW March Madness.  Would it be the returning explosive daredevil, Rob Van Dam?  Or the twisted newcomer Vampiro?  Or the focused and determined Texas Rattlesnake, Steve Austin?  Scott Steiner has taken the three biggest dangers to his World Championship and pitted them against each other here.  The ending would see Van Dam hit a rolling thunder on Vampiro for two.  Austin goes for a Stunner on Van Dam but Van Dam shoves Austin off.  RVD goes for a roundhouse kick but Austin ducks, kicks RVD and Stone Cold Stunner!  Austin covers for the one ... two ... THR ... Vampiro pulls Austin off!  Austin confronted Vampiro and said he should have let Austin pin Van Dam then it'd just be them.  Vampiro shouted he wanted to beat both of them.  Van Dam cradled up Austin for the one ... two ... THR ... NO!  Vampiro connected with a superkick on Van Dam then signalled for the Vampiro Spike!  William Regal hit the ring with a chair and nailed vampiro in the lower back.  Austin grabbed the chair from Regal and swung but Regal ducked and got out of the ring.  Vampiro held his back and thought it was Austin who hit him with the chair.  Wait, RVD is up and VAN DAMINATOR on Austin!  Vampiro decks RVD with a clothesline and covers Austin ... wait, Regal holds down Austin's foot ... one ... two ... THREE!  (14:18) Vampiro has eliminated Steve Austin!  Regal pulled Austin out of the ring and started hammering on him.  Its obvious that Steiner sent Regal out there to make sure that Austin would be eliminated and Regal got the job done.  In any event, it's down to Vampiro and Rob Van Dam.  One of these two men will goto March Madness to challenge Scott Steiner.  Vampiro picked Van Dam and punched away on him.  Vampiro tried to send RVD into the corner but RVD reversed it then backflipped and speared Vampiro in the corner.  Vampiro fell down to the canvas and RVD went for a split legged moonsault but Vampiro kicked the ropes, crotching Van Dam on the top rope.  Vampiro went up and hit a belly-to-back superplex for the one ... two ... thr ... NO!  Van Dam got a shoulder up.  Vampiro picks up Van Dam and goes for a power bomb but RVD counters out with a DDT right on the steel chair!  Van Dam to the top ... Five Star Frog Splash!  Van Dam's ribs are hurt but he crawls over and makes the cover for the one ... two ... THREE! Rob Van Dam has won this Three Way Dance!  Rob Van Dam will go to March Madness to challenge Scott Steiner for the World Championship!

WINNER: Rob Van Dam in 16:45.

Rating: *** 1/4

The show ended with a victorious Rob Van Dam standing in the ring.  RVD has capped off his return in a big way and will challenge the man who tried to end his career, Scott Steiner...
