NGW Ring Wars - February 25 / 2002

-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==

We opened with stills from last night's pay-per-view extravaganza, Blazing Glory, where 'The Dark Angel' Vampiro made his NGW debut teaming with 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin to defeat William Regal and the NGW World Champion, 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner inside a Steel Cage.  The match also saw an injured Rob Van Dam come through the crowd, climb the cage and come off with a Five Star Frog Splash onto Scott Steiner...

"Praise" by Sevendust played in the background of the NGW Ring Wars opening sequence which featured a montage of various New Generation Wrestling superstars such as; The Sandman & Too Cold Scorpio, DDP, Chris Kanyon, The Dudley Boyz, Taz, William Regal, Sabu, Raven, Jeff Jarrett, Rob Van Dam, Scott Steiner, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and more.  This is New Generation Wrestling RING WARS...

We entered the arena with Joey Styles and Paul Heyman welcoming everyone to the show.  We've got some great action tonight with Saturn versus Chris Kanyon, the new NGW World Tag Team Champions, The Acolytes defend against Evolution, Taz goes one-on-one with Raven, William Regal faces 'The Dark Angel' Vampiro.  All that and much more tonight on Ring Wars...

Opening Match: Diamond Dallas Page v. Balls Mahoney.  "Helping Hand" by StainD blared over the speakers as 'DDP' Diamond Dallas Page headed out to the ring.  Then, "Big Balls" by AC/DC blasted over the speakers as Balls Mahoney made his way out to the ring.  Diamond Dallas Page is coming off a hard fought win over Al Snow last night.  A well rested, Balls Mahoney took control of the match, overpowering and out brawling Page.  The ending would see Balls dump Page with a power bomb for 2 3/4.  Balls went the Nutcracker Suite but DDP dropped down and went for a Diamond Cutter but Balls shoved him off into the ropes, scooped Page for the Nutcracker Suite but again Page dropped out and this time hit the Diamond Cutter for the one ... two ... THREE!  Once again DDP hits the Diamond Cutter out of nowhere to take a win!

WINNER: Diamond Dallas Page in 4:44.

Rating: 1/4*

The NGW World Champion, 'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner is shown storming through a hallway until he found a door marked, 'Commissioner'.  Steiner busted inside where Shawn Michaels was on the phone.  HBK put down the phone and stood up...

STEINER:  "What the hell was that last night?  First Vampiro shows up like some big shot then Rob Van Dam comes off the damn cage?  No one does that to Big Poppa Pump.  NO ONE.  I want Rob Van Dam out in my ring so I can put him out FOR GOOD."

MICHAELS:  "That's just not going to happen tonight because I've forced Rob Van Dam to stay home but he'll be cleared for action next week.."

STEINER:  "He better be here next week or maybe I'll send you to the hospital instead..."

Steiner storms out while Michaels just shakes his head...

Match #2: Danny Doring & Roadkill v. The Dudley Boyz.  "Super Bon Bon" by Soul Coughing sounded over the speakers as 'Dastardly' Danny Doring & Roadkill made their way out to the ring.  Then, "Dead Cell" by Papa Roach blasted over the speakers as The Dudley Boyz headed out to the ring.  The Dudleyz are coming off a solid win over Simon Diamond & Swinger last night where they also put Dawn Marie through a table.  Buh Buh Ray and D-Von are on the top of their game right now and it showed as they controlled the match against Doring & Roadkill.  The ending would see Doring hit a Panty Drop Elbow on Buh Buh for the one ... two ... D-Von breaks the pin.  Roadkill came in and fought with D-Von.  D-Von tossed Roadkill from the ring.  Doring went for the Bareback on D-Von but D-Von shoved Doring off into a Buh Buh Bomb from Buh Buh Ray Dudley!  D-Von picked up Doring and The Dudley Boyz hit the 3D on Doring for the one ... two ... THREE!  The Dudley Boyz continue to roll and climb the ranks of the tag team division!

WINNERS: The Dudley Boyz in 4:32.

["Hell Yeah" by Disturbed]

'Stone Cold' Steve Austin headed out to the ring, took to the four corners, then grabbed a microphone.  Austin had a bandage on his head as a result of being busted open last night in the cage...

AUSTIN:  "What a great night it was last night for Stone Cold Steve Austin.  Not only did I get to whip William Regal's ass in that, I also got to whip Big Poppa Pump's ass.  For most people, that would be enough but no, not for Stone Cold Steve Austin.  That wasn't enough.  If you want Stone Cold to whip some more ass tonight, gimme a HELL YEAH! (HELL YEAH!) What? (HELL YEAH!)  WHAT?  (HELL YEAH!)  Then that's exactly what I plan on doing.  I saw Scott Steiner bust into the Commissioner's office earlier demanding to get his hands on RVD.  Apparently, RVD isn't here tonight so I've got a question for Big Poppa Pump.  Would you be willing to settle for Stone Cold Steve Austin?  I know, I know, I don't do any of those Five Star Frog Splashes or split legged moonsaults or rolling thunders, but could you settle for a match with plain old Stone Cold tonight?"

["I Am Hated" by Slipknot]

The NGW World Champion, Scott Steiner walked out of the entrance with a microphone in hand...

STEINER:  "I must have scrambled your brains last night when I busted you open because you've lost your mind.  You don't want any of the largest arms in the world.  You don't want any of the bid bad booty daddy.  You don't want none of this!"

AUSTIN:  "You've got a point ... can you give me a few seconds to think about whether or not I want a piece of Big Poppa Pump? ... Ok, I've made a decision and that decision is ... I want a piece of Scott Steiner's ass!"

STEINER:  "It seems like everyone wants a piece of Big Poppa Pump, everyone's gunning for me because I am the World Champion and the greatest athlete in the world.  No one will ever beat me for this title because while you're all good, you're not a genetic freak.  I was created to mesmerize and destroy.  How about next week we have a three way match with you, Vampiro, and Rob Van Dam?  The winner can get a piece of Big Poppa Pump at March Madness! What'd you think about that, Stone Cold?"

AUSTIN:  "I think that sounds good ... I don't care who's ass I gotta beat to get to you because I'm coming for you and that World Championship and that's the bottom line ... 'CAUSE STONE COLD SAID SO!"

It's set for next week ... Steve Austin versus Rob Van Dam versus Vampiro with the winner getting a shot at the NGW World Championship at March Madness...

Match #3: Allan Funk v. Too Cold Scorpio.  "Psycho Man" by Black Sabbath blared over the speakers as 'Angry' Allan Funk headed out to the ring making his NGW debut.  Then, "Bad Intentions" by Dr. Dre blared over the speakers as Too Cold Scorpio headed out to the ring.  Too Cold Scorpio and his tag team partner, The Sandman dropped the World Tag Team Titles last night to The Acolytes after Goldust revealed that Sandman was 'him'.  With Sandman apparently now having problems with Goldust, Scorpio was going it on his own here against Allan Funk.  The ending would see Scorpio go for a power bomb but Funk countered it with a small package for two.  Funk went for a lariat but Scorpio ducked and hit a spinning heel kick.  Scorpio went up for a moonsault but Funk rolled out of the way.  Funk went for his Revenge Bomb but Scorpio countered it with a frankensteiner.  Scorpio caught Funk with a tilt-a-whirl slam.  Scorpio went up top and came off with the Tumbleweed for the one ... two ... THREE!  Too Cold Scorpio picks up a hard fought win.

WINNER: Too Cold Scorpio in 5:33.

The Coach got some comments from Saturn...

SATURN:  "Raven ... The record books might show that you won last night but everyone saw me kick your ass.  Everyone saw the coward that you are but its become clear to me that to get you all alone, I've gotta take your Flock completely out of the picture.  I start tonight with Chris Kanyon."

Match #4: Chris Kanyon v. Saturn.  "Immune" by Godsmack blasted over the speakers as Chris Kanyon headed out to the ring.  Then, "Beautiful People" by Marilyn Manson blared over the speakers as Saturn made his way out to the ring.  Kanyon's coming off a hard fought loss to Sabu last night while Saturn got robbed and lost to his archrival, Raven.  So both these guys were looking to get back on the winning track.  This would be a good back and forth physical match between Chris Kanyon and Saturn.  The ending would see Kanyon hit a thrust kick on Saturn for two.  Kanyon went for a front-layout suplex but but Saturn dropped out and drilled Kanyon with a few punches.  Saturn spiked Kanyon with a brain buster for the one ... two ... THR ... NO! NO! Kanyon kicked out!  Saturn headed up top but Kanyon cut him off.  Kanyon went for a superplex but Saturn shoved him off down to the mat.  Saturn came off with a flying elbowdrop onto Kanyon for the one ... two ... THR ... NO!  Devon Storm ran out but the referee blocked him.  Raven came out of the crowd, into the ring and spiked Saturn with the Evenflow DDT!  Kanyon covered Saturn for the one ... two ... THREE!  Chris Kanyon steals the win over Saturn thanks to Raven!

WINNER: Chris Kanyon in 6:18.

We returned to the ring where Joey Styles was standing with a microphone...

STYLES:  "Last night we witnessed the debut of a superstar with worldwide experience.  Please join me in welcoming ... The Dark Angel ... VAMPIRO!"

["Kong At The Gates" by The Misfits]

'The Dark Angel' Vampiro stalked his way out to the ring to a really good reaction from the crowd.  Vampiro stood in the ring next to Joey Styles...

STYLES:  "Vampiro, first off, welcome to NGW!"

VAMPIRO:  "It's great to be here, Joey!"

STYLES:  "Why did you chose last night to make your NGW debut?"

VAMPIRO:  "Well, Joey Styles, when I look at NGW, I see a promotion that's going straight to the top.  I see a promotion with great wrestlers and great competition.  This is the place for me, this is the place that I want to prove just what The Dark Angel is all about.  What a better way to prove that then to start at the top.  Stone Cold Steve Austin needed a partner so I stepped in.  I can't describe the rush of adrenaline it was to get into that cage and get it on with three of the best in the world."

STYLES:  "One of those men, Scott Steiner, said earlier tonight that next week you, Steve Austin and RVD will compete for a shot at him, your thoughts?"

VAMPIRO:  "There's one thing I've yet to do in the United States and that's become a World Champion.  I want to thank Scott Steiner for giving me a chance to reach that goal and face him for the World Championship."

STYLES:  "One of the other men in the match was William Regal.  Tonight, you make your Ring Wars debut against Regal..."

VAMPIRO:  "William Regal, there won't be light at the end of your tunnel ... There will be darkness in the form of The Dark Angel..."

Match #5: The Acolytes (c) v. Evolution - NGW World Tag Team Titles.  "El Cu Cuy" by Coal Chamber blasted over the speakers as the new NGW World Tag Team Champions, The Acolytes made their way out to the ring.  The Acolytes took advantage of Goldust's appearance to take the titles from Sandman & Scorpio last night.  Then, "Intergalactic" by Beastie Boys blared over the speakers as Evolution, Jason Jett and Nova, headed out to the ring.  Evolution earned this title shot winning a three way dance last night at Blazing Glory.  Jett and Nova kept the match quick to keep the big champions on their toes.  The ending would see Faarooq go for a Spinebuster on Nova but Nova countered it with a Spin Doctor!  Nova crawled over and made the tag to Jason Jett.  Jett went for a Crash Landing on Faarooq but Faarooq blocked it and powerslammed Jett.  Faarooq made the tag out to Bradshaw.  Bradshaw laid into Jett with some forearms then sent him into the ropes.  Jett ducked a big boot then came off with a handspring elbow.  Jett went out to the apron for an Afterburner but Devon Storm and Scott Vick ran out and distracted Jett.  Jett flipped in with the Afterburner but he had waited too long and Bradshaw caught him with the Clothesline From Hell for the one ... two ... THREE!  The Acolytes hang onto the World Tag Team Titles after The Flock distracted Evolution!

WINNERS: The Acolytes in 6:04.

Rating: ** 1/2

(The Acolytes retained the NGW World Tag Team Titles.)

The Coach got some comments from William Regal...

REGAL:  "What is all this nonsense about darkness?  I don't give a bloody damn what you're into, Vampiro.  The fact of the matter is this, sunshine, you stuck your nose in business it didn't belong last night and now you're going to pay.  You're going to pay for bismerching the great name of William Regal last night and you will pay your price in pain!  You may have all the fans supporting you but what you don't have is the power of the punch."

Match #6: Raven v. Taz - NGW United States Heavyweight Title Shot @ March Madness.  "Come Out And Play" by Offspring blasted over the speakers as the enigmatic Raven walked out to the ring.  Saturn ran out and jumped Raven as he walked to the ring.  Saturn pounded on Raven until NGW officials ran out and grabbed Saturn, restraining him.  Raven continued to the ring, trying to shake off the attack.  Then, "War Machine" blared over the speakers as 'The Human Suplex Machine' Taz walked out to the ring.  Taz must be in a more miserable mood then ever after last night.  It took Jeff Jarrett a low blow, a single arm DDT, a guitar shot and the Stroke to pin Taz and keep his US Title.  The winner here between Raven and Taz will goto March Madness to challenge Jarrett.  This would be a decent brawl between Raven and Taz.  The ending would see Raven go for a short lariat but Taz threw Raven with a T-Bone Tazplex!  Taz lined up Raven for a running clothesline but Raven ducked, kicked Taz and went for the Evenflow DDT but Taz ran Raven into the corner.  Taz picked up Raven and placed him on the top turnbuckle.  Taz gave Raven a few shots then went up top and threw Raven with an Overhead Belly-to-Belly SuperTazplex!  Taz signalled for the Tazmission but Jeff Jarrett had come out with his guitar.  Jarrett drilled Taz over the head with the guitar!  Jarrett does not want to defend against Taz.  The referee called for the bell after Jarrett's blatant attack.  Howard Finkel then gave the announcement, "The winner of this match by disqualification and ... NUMBER ONE CONTENDER to the United States Heavyweight Title ... TAZ!"  Jarrett flipped out!  He's gotta defend his title against Taz again!

WINNER: Taz via DQ in 8:17.

Rating: ** 3/4

["Enter Sandman" by Metallica]

'The Extreme Icon' The Sandman walked out to the ring still in disbelief over what went down last night.  Sandman took to the ring and got a microphone...

SANDMAN:  "Cut it, cut the music.  You all saw what happened last night, Goldust walked out with my ex-wife and my eleven year old son.  Apparently, he's been talking about me all this time?  I don't get it, I don't understand.  Goldust, all I want to know is why?  Why are you doing this?  Why did you bring out my family?"

["Shattered Dreams"]

The most bizzare and unpredictable man to ever step foot in a wrestling ring as Joey Styles described him, Goldust walked out of the entrance with Lori and Tyler by his side.  Goldust had a microphone in hand...

GOLDUST:  "Don't stand there and act like you had no idea that I was talking about you.  You want to know why?  Well I'll tell you why your ex-wife and your son are standing here with me.  You're nothing more then a drunk ... A horrible father ... An abusive husband and a worthless piece of garbage.  You don't deserve the adoration and the respect of all these people.  No!  They fell in love with the violent, beer drinking, politically incorrect Sandman but they didn't know that Jim Fullington was an abusive insensitive drunk!  Now as I shatter your dreams and mine come true, all these people will come to love me just like your son Tyler as come to love me as the father he never had!"

SANDMAN:  "SHUT UP!  You godforsaken son of a bitch!  You're a liar, you know you're lying.  Tyler, what the hell has he said to you?  Don't let him get inside your head.  Goldust, I'm gonna kick your freakshow ass!"

The Sandman went at Goldust but Lori and Tyler stood infront of Goldust, blocking The Sandman.  Lori grabbed the microphone from Goldust...

LORI:  "Don't you dare touch him!  This right here is a good man, someone that is a role model for my son, unlike you, YOU DRUNK!"

Goldust then threw powder into the eyes of The Sandman and planted him with a Curtain Call!  Goldust set Sandman up in the corner and SHATTERED DREAMS!  Sandman was left in pain on the mat as Goldust picked up the microphone again,

GOLDUST:  "I told you that you will NEVER forget the name of ... GOLDUST!"

Goldust walked away from the ring with Lori and Tyler by his side...

Main Event: William Regal v. Vampiro.  "British Doom" by Jim Johnston blared over the speakers as William Regal headed out to the ring.  Regal's coming off a pinfall loss to Stone Cold last night in the steel cage match after Vampiro foiled his plans to use the brass knuckles.  Then, "Kong At The Gates sounded over the speakers as 'The Dark Angel' Vampiro stalked his way out to the ring.  Vampiro shocked the wrestling world when he showed up last night to team with Steve Austin in the Main Event.  Tonight, Vampiro makes his Ring Wars debut against William Regal.  Regal looked disgusted by Vampiro's freaky appearance, the tatoos and face paint.  Regal managed to slow down the match and work over Vampiro on the mat.  It was in Vampiro's best interests to brawl with Regal and not get trapped in Regal's tricky submissions.  The closing moments of the match would see Vampiro go for a spinning power bomb but Regal countered it with a backdrop.  Regal hit a kneelift on Vampiro then a double underhook power bomb for two.  Regal rolled Vampiro over and locked him in the Regal Stretch.  Vampiro wouldn't give up and managed to break Regal's hold and escape to the ropes.  Regal went for a german suplex but Vampiro countered it with a back elbow.  Vampiro went for a clothesline but Regal ducked and tried a British Neckbreaker but Vampiro blocked it then planted Regal with an uranage!  Vampiro covered for the one ... two ... THR ... NO!  Regal kicked out!  Vampiro drilled Regal with a roundhouse kick for another near fall.  'Big Poppa Pump' Scott Steiner started coming down to the ring with a lead pipe but 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin was right behind him, spun Steiner around and started slugging it out with him!  Regal went into his tights and got the brass knuckles.  Vampiro turned around, Regal swung but Vampiro ducked, picked up Regal and spiked him with the Vampiro Spike for the one ... two ... THREE!  Vampiro gets a big win in his debut over William Regal!

WINNER: Vampiro in 13:55.

Rating: ** 1/2

The show ended with a shot of Austin and Steiner brawling then Vampiro having his hand raised in the ring...
